The facility itself was organized and spotless It was my wifes first experience at a pistol range and although i have fired handguns before I have not done so in a while and welcomed the session I commend our trainer Victor Rivera for making this such a great experience. He took his time to explain everything to us in great detail and I mean everything. From discovering which eye was dominant to breaking down the gun and so much more Finally heading to the range to fire the pistols i felt it very intimidating for my wife but by the time Victor finished with us I feel she had more fun than I did but more importantly the lessons we learned are invaluable. We are checking our schedules to see when we can book another session with Victor We thank everyone at Gun For Hire but a special thanks to Victor See you all Soon Jeanie and Anton Mayer

I've recently rekindled the 2nd Amendment hobby from my younger days and this range has been…read moreamazing. I grew up handling firearms in Texas and Oklahoma and the ranges there are frankly somewhat lacking in many regards. RSOs are far and few between, safety is taken somewhat lightly, and in in general a lot of the ones I've been to aren't very well run, from membership process to ammo sales to rentals, etc. In Oklahoma specifically, I once witnessed someone discharge a .50 caliber magnum into the ceiling by mistake in the port next to me by someone who decided that starting their firearm journey with the largest revolver they could rent was a good idea. Ummmm.... Gun for Hire to me has been somewhat of a shock in how well it operates, and how nice and knowledgeable everyone is. This place is run like a Rolex factory. I became a member after the first visit. I've now brought both family friends and members to this place at least half a dozen times and every time our experience has been extremely positive. From the registration process, to the rental process to the RSOs giving tips and advice to newbies everything has been spotless so far. Rental ( non-member range ) practically has RSO for every port, and member range typically has around 2 RSOs (due to a more knowledgeable clientele). Chief RSO is a distinguished gentleman whose stories are as awesome as his mustache. Gun for Hire shop is staffed by very knowledgeable people and they sold me my first dream gun (John Browning's classic in Lord's Caliber) and I really appreciated their advice on everything from magazine selection to maintenance tools, to future purchases. If they don't have something in the shop they will write the item description on the super-cute "prescription pad" for you to be able to look them up elsewhere. Special shout out to the Gunsmith Mike who is super chill, and has helped me get my 1911 running like clockwork post-break-in period. He provided me with a ton of maintenance tips which saved me a lot of effort and time (and prevented me from doing an "idiot scratch"). Lastly, I'll address some of the extremely negative reviews that I've seen here for this place. You come to a place where you are handed a murder machine that you can fit comfortably in your hand. Follow the 4 rules or else FAFO. Yes I have definitely seen RSOs raising their voice to people doing stupid things in the rental area. That IS THEIR JOB. If you are handed a destructive device and don't follow the rules to the T don't be offended when you hear "Cease fire!". Watch a 10 minute video on youtube on gun safety and no one will have a single issue with you, I promise. This place is as inclusive as it gets.

I went to the Riverdale range for a Range Officer class that was given there by the NORI. The class…read moreitself was very informative and covered an extensive amount of material. The Class was a bit long over 10 hours the first day about 8 the second with a take home exam. The instructor did a great job at keeping people on track and keeping people who love tangential conversations to a minimum. The upstairs is pretty nice as a class room and seats quite a few people As for the Downstairs, which is also the range, it kind of small but it's pretty nice. You need to be a member to shoot there, and I don't know how much it is, I've been there only one other time as a guest of someone. They ask all doors be close when shooting since its smack in the middle of a residential area. The range is equipped with a electric target system that moves the targets to the desired distance. Overall a nice range I just can't say anything to on how expensive a membership is.

"Let's take a basic pistol training class" said my hubby out of the blue…read more .... "I'm sorry... what?... Did you say pistol training class? Those things that you shoot... with bullets?" (yes, I know now that the proper term is ammunition or cartridge) "Yep. That." "Oh.... Um..." *Long pause* "You could learn something interesting" *turns on the sad little puppy-dog eyes* *melts like butter* "Ok... I guess it can't hurt to learn a little bit about guns." And so we were off. The course sounded a bit expensive ($130/person) but overall, I thought it was pretty worth it. We had to be up before the crack of dawn because class starts at 8 am sharp and it didn't end until 6 pm. The class more than exceeded my expectation in terms of comprehensiveness and individualized attention. We basically had one instructor per person at the gun range, and the presentations were mostly very much about gun safety with pretty blue fake guns, parts of real guns, nice little handouts, poster boards, and demonstrations of everything from stance, to how to clean a gun. At the range, the guns we were given to try all belonged to the instructors - who tried very hard to make sure to find guns that fit everyone's different sized hands. Overall - this was an extremely educational class and I would highly recommend it to anyone who thinks of guns and the whole shooting process as a mystery. The instructors do a great job of breaking everything down and showing all the safety precautions that go into a gun. You have to take an open book no time limit "test" upon completion of the course (before going to the range)... So simple.
