After an intense multi-month relationship, my cardiologist, Dr. Devang Desai, has waved me off with good wishes for the next six months! He has conducted a thorough research and testing regimen to address an unusual - almost mysterious -- congenital heart defect which culminated in open heart surgery the end of July. At last week's follow-up appointment, I insisted on thanking him and his staff profusely for what I can only describe as a truly great experience with a terrific result.
Over the decades, I've danced with doctors off and on for several issues large and small. As I sensed my heart condition and quality of life diminishing, I was intent on finding the best doctor to partner with. It is not easy to get honest and substantive feedback on doctors. Between seeking out other doctors and medical professional, I got a clear picture that Dr. Desai and, notably his staff, got high marks.
Now I find myself gleefully joining the choir singing their praises as well. I could not be more pleased. It has been a particularly good experience. I especially appreciated how hard we all worked together to avoid open heart surgery, even while accumulating all the information that made it clear that it was my best alternative.
I'm running on so here's the bottom line: I could always tell he cared and was giving me his full attention, he did his homework and the needed research, he knows his stuff, he could explain the issues clearly, he's assembled a great team and the result has been damn near miraculous. read more
