I'm not like every other person who joins a gym in January because of New Year's Resolutions…read more Nope, I joined because I have an important event in a couple months and I need to get my butt in gear (literally)! I had thought I would join potentially for the weight loss benefits of going to the gym regularly, but had overlooked the benefit of endurance, both physically and mentally because being around people you may not want to be around is a special kind of endurance! I'm going to a conference out of state. Instead of loud drunk adults, this place has loud children and instead of walking for miles, seemingly in circles, you get to dance them in circles or step them or Aqua Zumba them. In any case, I feel like I'll be fit on all levels in time for my event. I had actually considered NC a couple years ago but wasn't fully sold at the time. Recently, I gave it another look and I think they have improved their website and now have an app. In addition, the membership options seem easier to understand and they have added an InScan / Body Scan machine that's free for members. That alone is worth the price of admission. It will tell you in excruciating detail how unfit you are but, hey, hopefully, you can only improve! Members can scan as much as they want but obviously, once a month is the most you should do to actually establish a trend. On membership, I opted for the month to month no contact one: $71 and no initiation fee. While that may seem high, I really need classes to feel engaged and motivated and most classes, even on Class Pass are around $20 to $25 a class, so if I go to one class a week at NC, I'm already ahead! One neat thing, the monthly pass just runs 30 days then deactivates. If you try to scan your card, it makes a noise and the staff will charge you to re-up for the next 30 days. For someone that has gotten burned on gym contacts more than I care to recall, the fact that this just expires is such a benefit to me. One less thing to worry about. You can also get the monthly membership and family and all kinds of flavors with different costs and contracts but for me, this was the perfect option. I mentioned classes and man, they have a ton: dance, Pilates, step, yoga, spin, Aqua Zumba, and they even have sports like drop-in pickleball! I've already taken a couple classes and really enjoy them. They have the app and you can add a class to your calendar from the app. You can't sign up for a class through the app though but hopefully that's in the works. You can also check into the gym with the app or with your keychain card, so that's handy. They have various lectures and courses and competitions which I'm looking forward to participating in as well. Also, they have a water bottle refill station which is great. No juice bar or anything but very close to a ton of places to quickly undo whatever you just did at the gym. Now for the neutrals and negatives: Yes, the bathrooms are old but I don't find them to be dirty or slippery or whatever some reviewers have said. They have lockers but bring your own lock and they are just day lockers. Half the time, I don't need a locker so it's not a huge deal for me but YMMV. Parking can be tricky. Free on the street if you can find it otherwise, pay with the Passport app to park in the lot. Children. It's weird if you're used to only going to gyms where it's adults only and also mostly going places where it's adults only. They are only allowed in the classes for them I think so there's that (I wish the app would let you filter those out because they have some kids classes I might want to take them you click in and see the age limits. Maybe I want to take "Creative Dance" or "Fit and Fun"). Overall, I'm already very happy with this choice and may very well convert my monthly membership to a contract. Eventually. Maybe...

We love the NC Fit club for the kids in the fall/winter/spring and all the cool classes she can do after school. They have a great indoor pool, workout area, and lots of fun classes for every age. We love the family night where we go and swim, do arts and crafts, and more fun things. The staff is so helpful, friendly, and great at what they do. We love coming here and it's such a nice place for the kids and adults alike!

The absolute most disgusting gym with the worst service and worst patrons I've EVER gone to. Allow…read moreme to explain why: 1) Patrons are incredibly loud, rude, have no etiquette with wiping down the machines. Most patrons will will have their speaker at FULL volume without any consideration. 2) This one is specific to the men who hang out at the weight area and are so loud you can hear them from the moon. Vulgar conversation, yelling, acting like its their clubhouse without consideration for other guests. It's distracting and innappropriate. Beyond annoying. 3) The staff here is useless. Watch the manager sit on her phone the entire time. THE ENTIRE TIME! THE ENTIRE TIME! She's getting paid to literally do nothing. Her attitude reflects it as well. 4) The bathroom makes me want to vomit and is unsanitary. Horrendous behavior goes on. I do not get to enjoy anything in there like the pool or the sauna because the guests are so vulgar and misbehaved. 5) All the men there hog the machines like they own the place and intimidate you if you try and say anything. This is a dangerous place for women. 6) Staff at the front...you might want to get off your phone and be attentive to who comes in. They are always on their phone. 7) MACHINES ARE ALWAYS AND CONSISTENTLY DOWN. 8) Staff never cleans the machines. I am there frequently enough to recognize the same disgusting garbage left behind at the different stations . 9) They constantly have the most obnoxious and irrelevant vendors set up at the front. It doesn't even make sense. Girl scout cookies, the police academy, some guy selling hideous shirts. This is a gym. No one wants the hallway blocked with this ridiculous selling push. 10) THE GUESTS ARE ARE ALL INCREDIBLY LOUD, RUDE, LACK ETIQUETTE, HAVE NO CONSIDERATION FOR OTHER PEOPLE. AND THE MANAGEMENT JUST ENJOYS IT. The absolute worst gym I've ever been to. I'll be emailing corporate as well. I doubt anyone will do anything about the behavior here. What an outstanding feat to be the worst gym in the world. Disgusting. Do better, but I doubt you will. I will be posting pictures later on as well.

Brad has been my trainer for a year-his workouts are constantly changing and challenging. Having a…read moreweekly personal training session with him ensures that I am consistent and motivated. And the early 2000s music is the best! I recommend this gym often for how clean it is and not intimidating in the least. Brad goes above and beyond in his role as manager in this gym and it shows. As a business owner I think it is so important for employees to be acknowledged for the great job that they are doing.

I was looking to jump start a fitness regimen, while also getting a little guidance. My experience on the whole was good. The gym is clean. It's members help keep it that way. Also, every time I was ever in there, staff were cleaning as well. It's a little small, but there seemed to be just about everything you need to workout. I'm not a gym rat, but that's how it seemed to me. The training is good. And fun. I loved going to those classes, and I couldn't do half the exercises completely, but I did get better every week. It's run by the trainers, and they do it a little different from one another, so I liked to attend all of them. Good workouts. Speaking of the trainers, they were all very nice people. Most of my classes were with Brad, Michael, and Madi. they were all helpful and encouraging. Great people. It's a great experience. I developed a routine which I am continuing to this day.

I can be intimated by group classes, especially if most people in attendance know what they are…read moredoing. See: going to a random yoga drop in and the instructor throwing out pose names without any guidance and me covertly seeing how my neighbor is bending. Thankfully, Body Garage is the opposite of that. The classes have great descriptions for what the workout entails, and each instructor that I have taken classes with has explained every exercise with detail and is great at meeting people at whatever level they are at. Really diverse classes too in terms of age and fitness levels, so you don't feel like you're working out in a class of pro athletes. It's easy to book classes online and there are lots of time slots to work with everyone's schedules. Also Terra, the owner, is just a fantastic human being. Her classes are my favorite to attend!

DBG is a great neighborhood gym. Don't let the exterior fool you--there really is no indication…read morethat this in fact a gym and not a car body garage. I am probably not the only person who has sat in their car outside triple-checking the address to make sure I was in the right spot. DBG has a variety of classes that are all a play on car-mechanic terms (e.g. Full Throttle, High Octane, Suspension). The classes vary in length and cater to the different needs and goals of the clients. For instance, there is a class called Firebirds whose description starts "Bring your stroller & let's get moving Mamas!" which mentions movement but also community. Though I will never attend this class, I am glad the local mothers are able to work out and build community. Tune-up is the class that I have attended and it fits in with what I need: it's usually at noon during the week and it an intense 30 min full body workout. The gym does have pretty good central air so if you get a spot right under a vent and in front of a fan, you can make it through this class in the height of summer without dying. DBG also does community events and various free workouts and happy hours that they post on their social media if you want to try them out in a no commitment way. I got an introductory priced class pass, that I found on the MindBody app and when that runs out, I will buy regularly-priced punch card, though they also have monthly membership and drop-in rates too. Thanks Terra and co!
