This location was located in the suburbs of Detroit about 30 mins from downtown and 40 mins from Dtw. The hotel was going throughout some renovations during our stay so it was definitely not convenient. They also didn't have lounge access on the weekends so I'm not sure that I would stay here at This location for that reason. read more

My family spent three days here. While this wasn't our first time in the area, it was our first time staying at this property. We had nothing but positive things to say about the entire experience. The location is convenient to the freeway, food and shopping. We arrived earlier than the standard check in time. However, I wanted to at least drop off our luggage. It was a pleasant surprise to find that our room was ready for us and we were able to drop off our luggage and freshen up before heading out. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The parking lot is ample and easy to navigate. The room was modern and clean. The common areas were comfortable as well. We didn't order from the restaurant, but the snacks in the store were sufficient for a quick bite. This will be my first choice hotel when I am back in the area again. read more

Family vacation 2021...bringing the California variant of COVID-19 to your city. So many cities that we wanted to visit with so little time. The Detroit Marriott Troy was our hotel of choice for the Detroit portion of our road trip. They are located about 20 minutes away from downtown Detroit in the upscale suburb of Troy. We arrived on a busy Thursday afternoon. We were quickly checked in by one of the front desk clerks who put us in a room for the sight impaired. My wife hated being assigned to a disabled room. As soon as we got to the room, she immediately wanted another room assignment. The front desk was able to accommodate us into another room. The new room was good for us. The room was clean and did not require a lot of our disinfecting wipes. Breakfast was served for platinum and above members in their lobby restaurant. The breakfast was a buffet. The servers in the restaurant were nice and friendly. They provided me with boxes so that I could bring breakfast upstairs to my wife who does not feel comfortable eating inside restaurants due to the pandemic. The hotel gym was nicely equipped. It had a treadmills, bicycles and weight lifting equipment. The gym seemed cleaned to me. Unfortunately, this was only a one night stay for us as we decided to drive across Michigan the next day. As a platinum member, they did give us a late check out so that we could explore Detroit the next morning. They are a nice hotel in a nice area. If my future road trips take me to the area, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. read more

With a small smatter of hotels around Troy, the Detroit Marriott Troy seems to be the only one in the area that has a bit of character and stands out a bit for its uniqueness. Due to Covid, there isn't daily housekeeping nor is the pool, fitness center, or bar open. However, the rooms are nice and clean, beds are comfortable, and the bathroom amenities are fairly standard. I want to make sure that Ms.Brenda, Ceej, Irina and Mr. Vern get the credit that they deserve! The best hostel customer service I've ever dealt with! I had an issue to where my room was cancel Thursday before I got here that Saturday. I called and spoke with Mr.Brenda and she gave me her word that everything would be ok. Now you know how people will just tell you anything these days to get you off the phone. So I was skeptical that everything would go smooth at check in. So I arrive Saturday ready to cry my eyes out just in case things didn't workout but when I got to the counter CeeJ and Irina made everything smooth as butter! From the complementary water to just being so informative about the hotel and what they have to offer. But then it gets even better... so it's time for dinner and so we got on the shuttle that Mr.Vern was driving and he took us there and back to the restaurant. All of this happened on day 1!! Mind you the room was super clean and there was no funny smells or anything. Please make sure EVERYONE gets a raise because they deserve it! I haven't even completed my stay just yet but that's how good the service was I had to get on here to make a review! read more

A classic older style Marriott that's been freshened up a bit with furniture and carpeting but still in the old-school room layout with older style bathrooms and fixtures. I was staying on business for just one night and as business hotels go it was fine. Clean room, AC unit that was well functioning and speedy efficient Check-in process with a great and helpful fellow at the front desk. Beyond the basics, there wasn't anything special about this place, just another bland, cookie-cutter suburban hotel catering to business travelers. I love this hotel! I have been here for events like Breakfast with Santa but I have never stayed as a guest. I stayed here for New Years Eve and it doesn't seem like many people we're staying there at the time. The hotel is clean, updated and the staff was very professional. Unfortunately, the amenities like the pool, bar and restaurant (including room service) were unavailable due to COVID. They do have a mini store in the lobby stocked with snacks. It's on Big Beaver Rd so there are plenty of food options nearby. There is limited parking up front by the entrance and a small parking structure in the back. The room we received was on the 4th floor. The hallways were quiet and the room was pretty quiet as well. The bed and pillows were comfortable. There is no fridge or microwave, just a bucket for ice. The TV has great channels and has Netflix and HBOMax. You have to pay for WiFi unless you sign up for the Marriotts reward program. I did select a room with a tub/shower combination when I booked but the room only had a shower which was fine. I really enjoyed my stay here and will definitely use this as our weekend getaway hotel if we are staying in the area. read more

In January, 2024, my wife and I reserved (and prepaid in full) a Suite for 6 nights, starting on June 9, 2024, at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Michigan in order to celebrate a "milestone" birthday with family and friends, none of whom we had seen in many years. Upon arrival on the evening of 6/9, we were advised we were being "upgraded" to a different room... one which turned out not to have a balcony overlooking Paint Creek as we had reserved, but rather a room overlooking the parking lot with a fireplace that did not work. When we complained, we were offered a "standard room" which was not a suite and, finally after having driven almost 500 miles that day followed by almost an hour of waiting around, we were finally told that "a newly hired, inexperienced member of staff, gave your room away and these are the only 2 rooms we have left." We said that was unacceptable and requested a full refund of our payment and said we would find a hotel elsewhere. incredibly, the person said she did not have the authority to grant a refund but, after we insisted she do so, she called her boss at home, who did finally authorize a refund. All of which is by way of explanation as to why we are submitting a "5" review of the Detroit Marriott Troy hotel. We would rate them a "10" if that were allowed. Upon our arrival, the gentleman behind the desk, Blake, not only booked us a room for 6 nights, but he helped us unload our luggage and he contacted his boss, Jaffrey, because he wanted him to make sure that the reservation had been made correctly. Upon hearing our story as to why we were there with no advance reservation, Jaffrey literally apologized to us for the unfortunate treatment we received at the Royal Park Hotel. He advised us that he was upgrading us, at no additional charge, to an Executive room for our entire stay and he thoughtfully presented us with a "goodie bag" with various sweet and savory treats and bottled water. The room was clean, spacious and well appointed. Imagine our surprise when, the next evening, on my birthday, Jaffrey knocked on our door and presented me with a silver tray containing 6 chocolate covered strawberries and 2 flutes for the bottle of champagne! We were both moved to tears by his thoughtfulness. And even more amazed, on a daily basis, that every time he saw us in the lobby, Jaffrey would ask if there was anything we needed. What a true professional and what a nice man! The third person we would like to recognize is a lady at the Front Desk named Irina. On multiple occasions she cheerfully and patiently answered our questions about local restaurants and points of interest. She was cheerful and, above all, extremely helpful. Frankly, the people mentioned above, and everyone else we interacted with at the Marriott saved the day! They turned a bitter disappointment into a fabulous experience. The people at the Royal Park Hotel could learn a lot about how to run a hotel and how to treat people from the incredible staff at the Marriott. It is our experience that effective organizations are run by effective people at the top, who work hard to instill the proper running of their business. To that end, we would like to compliment Ms. Michelle Street, the Marriott's General Manager, for the excellent organization she heads up. We would highly recommend the Detroit Marriott Troy Hotel to anyone with business or vacation plans in suburban Detroit. read more

Very clean, comfy bed- cool red lamp... seriously, I need to buy that lamp! :) The soaps and shampoos didn't have the best smell to them... kind of odd actually, but they were ok. The shower was nice. I would have liked one with more water pressure, but I think nowadays the only showers with high pressure are motels in the sticks who haven't purchased new shower heads in the last 50 years. They were a little stingy with the towels, but since we stayed two days, they replaced them while were were away on the 2nd day. I think the best part was the restaurant/bar downstairs. It was very laid back and friendly. Our server could have been the owner because he was very eager to please and wanted our feedback. I ordered the turkey rueben panini, and it was AWESOME!!!!! It had a homemade cole slaw on it that was sweet and crunchy and sooooo good! I wanted to eat the whole sandwich, but I couldn't fit it all in my stomach...so I dreamt about it later that night. yeah, it was that good. We bought the Somerset shopping package, and that is the way to go!!!!! for $130 or so a night, we had a great room, free dessert, $25 gift certificate for anything at the Somerset mall, free valet parking at the mall and free breakfast. We pooled our two $25 gift certificates together and bought a box of chocolates at Godiva. yeah. :) Since it was food, they didn't charge tax, so it was an even $50 for a box of chocolately heaven. Breakfast was great as well. It included the buffet, or anything on menu! We each ordered the $15 All American Breakfast which had eggs, a meat, toast and hash browns. All cooked just right. The server was very friendly too! All in all it was a great experience, and I would have given them a 5 star if the shampoos didn't smell so weird. :p read more

Hubby and I along with two kiddos in tow, stayed here last week while in Michigan attending a wedding. I must say this Marriott met, and at times, exceeded our expectations. Upon check-in, they confirmed our room requests. Unfortunately their idea of a crib is a pack and play which is not the most comfortable for a five month old. I rate the entire hotel staff a 10. Everyone was pleasant and went above and beyond to assist us when needed. Room service was efficient and actually tasty. However one night we ordered the chicken carbonara and it was ridiculously salty. A dish with sundried tomatoes, cheese ravioli and pancetta does not extra salt in the cream sauce. Their pizza and buffalo wings were much better. Overall we enjoyed our stay and received a great deal on their breakfast package. We'll more than likely stay here again in the future as they're family friendly, convenient to shopping and restaurants and right off of the freeway. read more

Second time at this hotel and I really like it. Rooms have been recently renovated and they are very clean and comfortable. Pillows are a little too soft, but you can call the front desk and ask for firm pillows. Linens are always impeccably clean. The front desk and shuttle drivers are super friendly and helpful. All the staff is willing to help and cater to any need or request. They have a nice gym with plenty of equipment. Natasha is the BEST! You can find her in the lounge in the afternoons and she is the embodiment of customer focus. She remembers everyone, she goes above and beyond to help everyone and always had a smile on her face. Clean, modern, and just an all around great stay. I love the way the rooms look so modern and clean. The rooms are super spacious and feel like your staying in a miniature executive suite. I love how there is a white marble desk large enough for me to do work, and watch TV. By the way the TV in the rooms are like a 65" TV, but don't quote me on the size I just no its large! The bathrooms have been updated and have a modern standing shower with plenty of water pressure and they come with a massager shower head which is nice when you need one. My bed was super soft and clean and I slept like a baby. My room was next to the elevators and in this case it wasn't a problem. I didn't hear people going in and out of the elevators, the only time I was bothered was when someone was talking on their cell phone in the hallway. For one person you get plenty of closet space. I can see this room being a little bit of a problem with a family but for a couple or a business trip type person its just the right size. I wish every hotel had rooms like this. The only down side is that you don't get a free breakfast. Now if you get to a certain level on the membership program breakfast is included, if not it's $20 for the breakfast buffet which is not very affordable. But I will say that the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable when it came to the best places to eat. Another benefit is, if you like to go out and eat they have a free shuttle that will drop you off and pick you up to where ever you would like to go (with in the area), so no need for a taxi or Uber. The downstairs lounge and restaurant are top notch. A couple of my friends that were with me had lunch and drinks there and they loved it. At night it was packed with business people and people staying in the hotel, so that tells me that they are doing something right. Note: when you stay at the Marriott make sure you sign up for the free membership so that you get the free internet. I was able to do homework, work, stream video, and talk to my family all on the free internet service that comes with my membership. And let me not forget the great GYM and swimming pool. If you need to get a workout in or you just want a dip in the pool, this place has you covered with a beautiful facility. You be let down when it comes to relaxing. I have fond memories from conferences, wedding receptions, or happy hours from years ago and decided to book for 3 days since we suffered a power outage from severe storms recently, and The Townsend was full. We now have economy coming back/Covid vaccines, and 99.9% of people we saw were maskless, but I was surprised to learn they no longer offer room service ( you can't even call ahead to the restaurant ). When I checked in, Ceej at the front desk couldn't find my reservation, insisting I wasn't scheduled to arrive until the following night. I showed her my email confirmation, she glanced at it and said "that's not from us". So I asked her to check again, or that I would just book for the night anew with her. She again just stood there shaking her head "that's not us, you're not scheduled to arrive until tomorrow. Ssssooorrrryyyyy...." Ultimately she must have realized I was still patiently standing there, and she remarked with zero expression (including zero apology), " oh. There you are". I parked in the dilapidated lot, lugged my bags through the hotel , went to the end of the hall where my room was, and tried my key (exhausted from dealing with all the problems from inclimate/dangerous weather ) and found the key didn't work. I went back down to the desk and Ceej did not bother to interrupt a personal phone call she literally BEGAN when I told her my key wasn't working, rekeyed and handed to me with not so much as an apology. For a nightly rate of $250/night, this hotel has the audacity to offer the flimsy plastic cups wrapped in flimsy plastic that one would find in a "no tell motel" instead of glass glasses in the bathroom. The minibar fridge is broken, there is no microwave but a gaping hole where it should be. The mattress is lumpy and cheap. The following two days I called the Townsend begging to double check there was still nothing available (nothing ), since I was being charged about the same as for a 4 star hotel for the (now) 2.5 star Troy Mariott. The last straw that compelled me to compose this review was when I called Katrina at the desk (who picked up on the 30th ring) to let her know I couldn't get pay per view to order a movie. She said " ok, I'll call you back" to which I replied that I already informed the desk this morning at 7 am and it was now 7 pm. She said "ok hold on the technician is standing right here." Not 10 seconds later she said " he said we have to take the TV down from the wall and send it in for repair." To which I said "I check out in the morning, there's no point ". To which she said "alright , I'll call you back." And hung up. I can't tell you WHY she's calling me back. I will update this review ONLY if Katrina "calls me back ". Update - "Shawn /Sean " at the front desk just called me (934 pm) to offer a $20 credit or comp breakfast. I told him that I booked another hotel and would be leaving early (tonight), declined his insult of an "offer" , and thanked him for his most prompt and hospitable efforts. read more

This is a very nice full-service Marriott property. We were given one of their larger King rooms, which included a super comfy bed, a work station, a large flatscreen TV, sofa, and a fridge. The bathroom was also nicely appointed. Conceirge is not available on weekends (grrr) so I cannot comment on this. Wonderful workout center with multiple treadmills and ellipticals, plus an exercise ball area, free weights and one of those fancy flex-y pulley workbench things (yep, I'm technical). Indoor pool with neat looking cabanas to lounge in. Parking was my only beef. They have very little street level parking, and the parking garage, located behind the attached ballroom, was far from the front entrance. We luckily found parking in the lot, but it's still a hike to the lobby. read more

Not like they had been stored on ice, but frozen and quickly thawed out, but not all the way. Very disappointed. As that is my granddaughter's favorite. Our room was very nice and clean. We were on the 16th floor. The view is nothing worth noting. We were there for the pool. And it's a very nice one at that. Too bad I fell and hurt myself at the pool. Totally my fault. We will go back again soon. As this is our go to place to hang out. Room service was pretty spot on. The crab cake was surprisingly delicious and huge. This is a beautiful Marriott Hotel nestled in the center of Troy. It's just a few steps from Somerset and is surrounded by dozens of fine restaurants including Ruth Chris, Morton's, J Alexanders, and Ocean Prime. The hotel has a beautiful modern decor and the rooms are neat and clean. They upgraded to flat screens and ladies there are plenty of mirrors and ample lighting for applying your makeup :) (you're welcome) What I like most about this place is the price! I stayed 3 nights at this hotel for a business trip. My company paid for this trip. Location It is relatively easy to get to/from the hotel, it is on a main road but the roads here have these unusual turnarounds/U-turns with no lights at many of them, so you tend to sit at these to wait to make your u-turn. As for restaurants and shopping, you do need a car to get around, but there is a nice variety to choose from up and down the main road as well as an upscale mall with restaurants and a food court. Room I had room 1011 with 2 Queen beds. My King preference was not available. The room was a nice size and very clean, housekeeping did a great job every day. The bed was extremely soft and comfortable. I had requested extra pillow, feather preferably, and they were in the room when I arrived. The sink area was adequate with a fair amount of room around the sink area for makeup bags, etc. The sink is outside the room with the shower/commode. The lighting is just okay for putting on makeup. Plenty of towels were available in all sizes. There is a large tv with the basic channels. A nice size desk for working. Wireless internet was easy to hook up and worked perfectly every day. The hvac was very quiet. Check In There were a few people at the front desks. Check-in and check-out were easy, no lines. Hotel Staff The hotel staff were all very pleasant and helpful, but due to the weather (snow) I was in boots and jeans a lot in the evening (even though I was here on business) and I got the impression each night that I was being questioned (in a subtle way) if I was a guest of the hotel before they would assist me. At one point when I was printing my boarding pass (on the slowest computer known to man) that I was being watched and checked up on. Parking There is a little parking in the front, off to the side of the hotel that is not covered, but there are several levels of covered parking spaces in the back of the hotel with an elevator that takes you to the lobby. I found it easy to run outside and turn my car on to warm up and then stand in the lobby with my coffee for a few minutes. The garage is not well lit but it felt safe to me. It is a little slippery when it's raining or snowing as it is all on inclines and declines. Lobby/Restaurants/Bar/Room Service The lobby is large and up to date. The bar is in the middle of the lobby and was busy and loud every night I was there. I pre-ordered room service on 2 mornings by leaving the card outside the door the night before. Both mornings my breakfast was delivered on time, correctly and was quite good. Everything was hot. The restaurant/bar has excellent food as well. I ordered a chicken sandwich and a salad and everything was fresh, flavorful and good portions. GPS/Cell Phone/Internet My gps worked fine getting around the entire area. Cell phone service was perfect everywhere in the hotel. Hotel wireless internet was perfect, never dropped service over the 3 days I was there. They do have a laptop for use and a printer, as well as the dedicated boarding pass computer/printer, but the computer is super super slow. You will have a birthday getting to your airline website for your boarding pass to print out. Gym/Pool I used the gym one evening around 7 pm. It was busy, but they have 4 or 5 treadmills (not the best but good enough) and a number of other bikes, ellipticals, etc. They have a separate room with weight equipment. The pool is beyond the gym and looked nice and clean. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again if in the area. read more

Decent rooms, comfy bed, fast room service, quick maid service, plenty of parking, and a gift shop with Starbucks coffee. My kids were screaming when my husband and I checked in and the super sweet staff let them pick out a snack for free from the gift shop. Great location too! Nothing really to get excited about with this property. It was the closest option to a jobsite that I needed to visit so that's why I picked it to begin with. I was somewhat impressed that the rooms were large but the decor is just a little worn and out dated IMO. I did notice a great little bar in the lobby area that appeared to have decent beers on tap and apparently they have a place that you can eat called 200 West. I didn't try it so I can't really give any feedback for it. The parking is a little hard to manage if you don't get a side spot you'll end up having to park around the back of the building. Of course you could spend $17/day to valet your vehicle which I saw no one doing for good reason. That's a little steep. read more

We enjoyed a peaceful two night stay at Detroit Marriott. It was easy to get in and out of and we didn't have to pay for parking. The rooms were nothing fancy, but were very clean and comfortable. Everything was in good repair. The concierge lounge breakfast was very good. I was not as impressed with the evening hors d'oeuvres. The lobby was spacious and comfortable as well, with a lobby bar with many seating areas, and full-service restaurant. I cannot say anything remarkable, but also had no complaints. The concierge lounge is closed on the weekend. Don't bother to pay extra ,the breakfast isn't a big spread at all. Some fruit , cereal , eggs bacon and French toast. The staff was nice but the spread isn't worth paying the extra per person especially if you have kids. I requested the higher floor. That didn't happen. I requested extra pillows got that. The blanket was a small one. Doesn't really fit the bed. Cleanliness in room ...was ok We also ordered from the restaurant. Food was ok. Not so great. Kids ordered pasta and marinara. Had to send it back bc it tasted like straight pizza sauce. It was a ok place. read more

Ever since RE-started traveling back in May 2020, I have stayed here at this Marriott property. They have been nothing but great. I felt welcomed, even to the extend that I felt like home. They made sure that any exercise equipment i needed was available in my room due to fitness center being closed. Everyone at this hotel made sure that I am comfortable and get what I needed. To top it off, when the restaurant was reopen, the restaurant staff, Jo, Gina, Cheryl, Adriano, and did the best to make sure guests felt welcomed. Chef Jason even made the perfect meal for any traveler would need, a balance of protein, veggie, and carb "Rice Bowl". Perfectly seasoned, yet just enough spices that make it tasteful. I will recommend this hotel and I will for sure that I stay here every time. read more

Shocking experience at the Marriott today thanks to GM Michelle Street. Our silent bookclub was just told to leave. We didn't even have time to order our drinks or food yet and Michelle Street came up to us and asked in a very hostile way who the organiser was. My aunt, who was the organiser, had a conversation with Michelle. We were told that we were taking up space and asked to leave, even though the restaurant was empty and we were not causing any trouble. We discussed with her more to come up with a solution, and Michelle was inflexible and unwilling to find a solution. She had a very condescending tone. We all felt that we did not fit her clientele image as we were wearing Christmas sweaters to celebrate our Christmas silent book gathering. We were planning to all order food and drinks, but very clearly unwelcome in this space. We were all very disappointed by Michelle Streets bad service. She was very rude and condescending. read more

I love this hotel, great lobby, great bar downstairs and the rooms are always amazing. CLEAN AND RELAXING. the location is perfectly situated in the heart of Troy and on Big Beaver, close to Somerset Collection and tons of restaurants. The service is worthy of a 4 star hotel, and the attention to detail is noteworthy. I will keep on coming back to this hotel for sure. read more
