This food tour exceeded my expectations. Our tour guide Susan was very knowledgeable, super kind, humble and personable. My favorite part about her is the locals clearly know her and love her.

Date of tour: December 21, 2024…read more After a wonderful food tour in Prague last year, we wanted to replicate the magic stateside while visiting New Orleans, a city with a rich food history and scene. As requested, I will keep the individual location names secret as to not spoil your potential food tour but also because the stops can change and I don't want to have you disappointed if you don't get the same places on your tour. Ty was a great guide, providing us with local history and culture as we ate our way down Magazine Street. The only complaint I have is that they didn't really interact with us during the food portions, standing or sitting off to the side, or running to the next location to make sure we were all set. To me, the guide should be not only the bridge between the locations and food with us, but also a bridge between the different groups on the tour. Ty told us before the tour started that the other folks joining us were from Michigan, but we found out from them later that they were actually from New York. Had these connections been made earlier, it would have enhanced the tour. On to the food, wonderful that it all was! Please note that I may make some errors in the actual names of the food, while I took pictures, I did not write down the names and there wasn't a post-tour recap to assist me! Stop #1: A local sandwich and a seafood side. Both quite good, especially since I don't like olives! Stop #2: An unusual meat that was shockingly good! Stop #3: Seafood options. I've had a different version of one of these items in Asheville, NC. This wasn't quite as good but still tasty. Stop #4: Southern favorites that were so good! I didn't think I would like these but I did. Stop #5: A peppermint fudge cupcake. Sadly, the weakest stop on the tour. Other that tried the gelato came away disappointed and my cupcake was neither overly fudgey or pepperminty. It looked pretty, though!

I'm a foodie and this is hands-down the best of the best food tours I have ever been on!…read more I attribute my high accolades to our guide Beth, who knew absolutely everything and anything about the cuisine and culture of NOLA. She made the tour so exciting and interesting and had so much to say about things that you would have never even thought of! Beth was interesting, quick, personable, funny, and had such a wealth of knowledge not only of the food, but also of it's preparation, culture, lore and history, how it got woven into the culture of "NOLA". This tour had just the right amount of walking and food. I felt very satisfied but not stuffed. We had the following: Hotel Poste gumbo; Red Fish Grill shrimp po boy & gator boudin; Leah's pralines; Nola Sauce Bar samples (hot sauce); New Orleans Creole Cookery red beans and rice & bananas foster bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. If I'm ever back in NOLA, I would sign up for this food tour again!

Gary our guide was extremely knowledgeable on the history of the area and spoke to is for over 20 min on the history of New Orleans. Next stop was for Po Boys and Muffaletta sandwich. We stared with a fried catfish Po boy, Sasuage bodine, and an Italian meat Muffaletta. after the delicious sandwiches we stopped at the spice shop where we tasted a bunch of flavors to purchase. then off to the praline shop where we tasted many types of praline. and finalized at the 3rd block Depot with Gumbo and bread pudding to finish off the tour. The Gumbo had a twist, German style with mashed potatoes instead of rice. Gary is a wonderful historian and story teller and he made this tour one of my favorite History tours, the food at each stop was terrific. I personally was not so excited about the spice shop but others loved it. I have more spice at home then I can use in my lifetime! Highly recommend this as a New Orleans history and food tour and if the other guides are as knowledgeable as Gary then you will love this one.

Review for Tastebud Tours in New Orleans February 28, 2026…read more On our quick trip to New Orleans we experienced a culinary tour led by a fun and incredibly knowledgeable Charles Duffy III, with Tastebud Tours. As we began our tour, wandering through the vibrant streets, Charles brought the city to life with fascinating historical tales, local legends, and insider stories that gave us a deeper appreciation for New Orleans beyond just the food. Our first taste - Boudin sausage paired with an amazing Remoulade, along with a blackened chicken po'boy was an excellent introduction to the bold, authentic flavors of New Orleans. Each bite was packed with seasoning and tradition, setting the tone for everything that followed. Next we enjoyed a chicken sausage gumbo that was hands down the best we've ever had. Rich, hearty, and full of depth. It was clear this dish was made with care and rooted in true Louisiana cooking. The third stop was an experience in and of itself, offering not just delicious food but a unique atmosphere that captured the spirit and culture of the city. Each location we visited felt thoughtfully chosen and added something special to the tour. We finished on a sweet note at Laura's Candies where the pralines were the perfect dessert - creamy, indulgent, and unforgettable. The gist of this experience = Local Flavor Immersion - getting a real feel for the city's Creole and Cajun culinary roots. Highly recommend!!

It could have been nicer if: - The tour guide talked about some of the history of the neighborhood you're walking through. Or the significance of certain stops/restaurants. - Called ahead to any of these places so they were somewhat prepared to receive 10-12 people. Many of the places seemed put off and frustrated that we all showed up. A reserved table would have been nice anywhere. Instead, you're hoping for a table but end up standing and eating against a wall. - Have a semblance of organization when it comes to the order of foods. Start off with an appetizer, then a salad or something, then a bit heavier, and then wind down. My neighborhood potluck is more organized than this was. - If I pay $100 for the tour, offer at least $40 worth of food. Buying a $12 sandwich and quartering it is a bit "cheap" to me. - How hard would it be to include drinks? I estimate we had $35 worth of food per person based on menu prices and portions offered. I wouldn't recommend and definitely won't do it again.

It was my birthday weekend and this was one of three tours during my first ever visit to New Orleans. Naif was my food tour guide for the day. When I arrived at the initial spot, I was informed that while he normally had a group of 7-9 people for the food tour, this day it was just me. It was my actual birthday, so needless to say it was a pleasant birthday surprise. While I enjoyed the gumbo and jambalaya of our first tour stop, Naif proceeded to tell me the origin and history of the food and the surrounding area. The delicious cuisine continued when we stopped for a shared muffaletta and fries. We kept the party going to Jackson Square where I was regaled with more knowledgeable, interesting history from Naif. We rounded out the tour with an iced coffee and delicious beignets from the infamous Café du Monde. I do not recommend wearing black as I did. I walked out a powdered sugar mess. Although a happy one! I had such an enjoyable time! The food was delicious, the service at the individual restaurants impeccable and the tour guide company exceptional. Naif was passionate in sharing his knowledge, funny and engaging and all-around great company. I would definitely recommend his tour and will definitely be back with friends to do so. Thanks again, Naif, for a great and memorable birthday.
