I put this off for a while hoping Destin Plastic Surgery would do the right thing, but as I sit here filling out small claims paperwork I'm even more frustrated at the time I've wasted due to their incompetence. My husband and I both took time off work, booked airfare, rental car, and Airbnb, and spent thousands traveling from out of state for my surgery. At my pre-op appointment, the doctor said he should not operate because I use nicotine patches. (Maybe mention that BEFORE my pre-op?) This requirement was never disclosed prior to booking. They sent me a restricted medication list and a restricted supplement list, which I followed 100% -- nicotine patches were not listed anywhere. Their excuse? The staff member who should have provided the nicotine policy was "new". Because of their internal mistake, I'm left with thousands in wasted expenses and now even more wasted time filing a lawsuit and a complaint with the BBB just to try to recover my losses. This experience was shockingly unprofessional. My husband and I kindly requested basic compensation for the out-of-pocket expenses from this wasted trip and (not surprisingly) never heard back. My experience with this provider for an abdominoplasty with liposuction of the flanks is as follows: My consultation with the surgeon went well. I noted him to be talkative and pleasant, and after consulting with him, my prior apprehensions eased. I began to feel relatively comfortable with my decision to use a surgeon two and a half hours away, and a whole other state over. However, the pre-operative consultation with his practice nurse is where my experience started to take a turn for the worse. As a retired nurse myself with 17 years in practice, I felt the pre-operative consult was ok. The nurse and I connected somewhat on the fact that we were both nurses, but that was quickly revealed to be where our common ground ended. I found the consultation with her to be frustrating and uninformative at best, and I felt by the end of the conversation like I had been unheard and blown-off when I asked a few questions about his chosen methods. The surgeon advertised his practice on a billboard advertisement in my area which read, "See why people travel". Hindsight is 20/20, and I wish I had done one more surgeon consult before going with his practice. He was my second. The surgery went off without a hitch, but my experience as a client declined in the weeks and months of the post-op phase. Patient experience was good, client experience, not so much. I am now under the impression with this office that once your money is taken and the procedure done, you are no longer a primary concern. For example, my follow-up exam was a week from the surgical date. (I must note that this physician performs a traditional tummy-tuck using two drains. This antiquated approach would become a problem once I discovered I could not secure an adequately timed appointment to have them removed.) The practice nurse suggested we email her my drainage totals from the day of our appointment to the next one, and she readily assured us that I could be seen as much or as little as we wanted post-operatively if we had any concerns. So, we told her Friday of the following week would work for our follow-up. She spoke as if the appointment wouldn't be a problem. However, much to my great discomfort, and with virtually no communication from them in the meantime, I ended up having to keep my drains in for 3 miserable weeks due to not being able to get an appt in the second week as she had assured me I could. The drains stopped draining on day 10! A tummy tuck is an extensive and painful procedure. The pain control measures were also antiquated and inadequate. I was given only Percocet for pain and Phenergan for nausea. When I asked for a muscle relaxer for the pain due to the abdominal plication (I had muscle repair), I was offered Neurontin and told I needed to just walk more. Neurontin is often prescribed for nerve pain in diabetics with peripheral neuropathy or other conditions that involve chronic nerve damage. Studies on Neurontin have not been proven to be a worthy treatment for post operative pain. Furthermore, it doesn't agree well with me personally. Also, this practice does not use the drug Exparel, which is widely used for post operative pain and would have made a tremendously painful several days of post-op far more tolerable. Exparel is an anesthetic block injected into the surgical area during surgery that will give several days of pain control post-operatively. As a client paying $12,000 plus for an elective surgery, I expected far better concern for my post-operative comfort and a far more luxurious experience overall. Exparel should be included in this physician's formulary for mine and any other client's comfort, and the fact that this surgeon chooses not to use it says a lot about his practice. Many plastic surgeons see Exparel as essential for such a painful procedure. My surgeon did not. Overall, as a nurse, I feel this practice is dropping the ball in client comfort and post operative care. In addition to all of these issues, every time I called the office, I got a different nurse. I communicated with this surgeon via email about my difficulty with the practice nurse and her manner early in this process and received no response from him whatsoever. Eventually, I opted out of communicating with his practice nurse any further due to her short and overbearing demeanor. As a result, this made continuity of care at this practice virtually impossible as it seems this is a surgical center that has a frequent turnover of nurses. Long story short, I paid for a procedure with subpar post op care. This was my experience, and I am currently 4 months post op. I have since relied on very informative YouTube plastic surgeons and the platform RealSelf for most of my post op recovery information. My last visit to the practice was with the P.A. PROCEED WITH CAUTION IF YOU ARE HAVING SURGERY WITH DR BURDEN Where do I start! I saw Dr Burden for an initial consult and explained to him everything I needed and also showed pictures, I was specific on the type of implant and also where the implant should be placed which was under the muscle. This was my 3rd Breast Augmentation and 2nd lift over the years so I knew exactly what I was wanting. Well not only did he not go under the muscle on the initial surgery ( i thought i was only having one surgery) but he went over the muscle, did the lift and put my old implants back in stating my original implants were over the muscle so he could not do the implant exchange (never heard of this and speaking with other surgeons they are stating the same that is an infection waiting to happen), Which I know for a fact they were under the muscle as I have had confirmation from the previous surgeons and records. Well I got an infection and the stitches opened up. He stated they would heal and we have to go in to do the implant exchange now anyway. Second surgery, he decided it was best to go through the armpits, not only did I get an infection in my armpit but he put the incorrect implants in, after I did some research and found out what he had placed in there. Now once again my stitches opened tremendously and again I was in a worse position. My husband and I complained to him about the implants and he argued with us. The third surgery he did a scar revision as it needed to be closed. Well I ended up opening again much worse than the previous 2 times and I contacted their office with no response. I knew it was infected and not once did I receive antibiotics for the opening wounds. I ended up at the emergency department with 2 lots of bacteria infections, alot of pain and was put on strong antibiotics with an IV and also antibiotics to take home. The ER doctor was astounded that I was not put on antibiotics sooner. That is where I decided I am not going back to Dr Burden as I now have significant damage not to mention concaveness in my chest area and implants moving into my armpits. I believe negligence on Dr Burden's part. Not to mention I have made contact with many other ladies with the same issues that he has done to them, which lead me to now pursue restitution for all the pain and suffering and time off work and scarring and what I have been through mentally! I am worse off now than what I was when I first saw him for a consultation. I will not rest until this is brought to justice especially since so many women have had these same issues with him. I started the first surgery in August 2023 and had the last Surgery in December 2023 I am still struggling with all the issues. I have seen a new plastic surgeon and he will be fixing all the issues, he was also shocked at my outcome and what I had been through. I got a scar removal surgery back in June and I was told that after the surgery my scar would look like a cat scratch and it looks worse then it did before I got the surgery done. Don't recommend getting scar removal surgery from here at all. read more

As someone who's worked in aesthetic derm for 6 years I can say honestly that this is as good as it gets. This review is for the injectable side of this practice and not the surgical. This kitty does not get cut. Yet. Walking into this practice is like a dream come true. It feels like a medical center, smells pleasant, all the while making you feel like you've walked into an episode of nip/tuck. The place is new, expansive, immaculate, and the staff is gorgeous. Everything screams symmetry, beauty, and cleanliness. They have early morning appointments, so after 5 months since my last dosage I scheduled a 7:45 appointment for my botox. Botox injections are upstairs in their own little wing. The receptionist was gorgeous (as she should be!) and completely approachable. Pricing was disclosed over the phone without hesitation ($12/unit for botox (which I think is high, but they don't dilute. so you pay for what you get. And I'll take it)). I filled out a bit of paperwork, and before I could turn my cellphone to silent I was called. QUICK service. Before pictures were taken and I spoke to Dr. Bill (?) about my aesthetic goals with botox, and what I was used to getting- My glabella is out of control plus I wanted some lift on each eye in the corners so we talked units, agreed on long term plan and went for it. The chair is really high. I'm 5 feet tall and even with 5'' stilettos on I had a hard time getting on this silly chair. Dr. Bill was quick, and this was one of the least painful injections I've ever had. The glabella is usually the most painful area but Bill made it extremely tolerable. Quick and painless with minimal bleeding. Perfect. I was ready to hit the food store afters with minimal redness and no trauma to the site of the injection. I was shown out, and given post instructions- the lovely receptionist rang me up, and told me Bill gave me 10% off (don't know if thats for new patients or he was just feeling awesome and generous that day). :) They carry the full line of Obagi as well (they have skin care, make up etc). I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Burden and Destin Plastic Surgery. I went in for a breast reduction this spring and he truly listened to me during the consultation. The two of us, together, made the decision on how much I wanted to reduce. He and his staff patiently answered my questions...... and I had a bunch of them. I got a breast augmentation in August of 2015 by Dr Burden. I am 24 and have always wanted the procedure and would do it again. I finally got the courage and money up and went where my best friend recommended. Her results are still so gorgeous after six years. (She used Dr. Ennis) I live about an hour and half away to the East, and it is truly a beautiful ride out to the surgery center. If you go in the summer, expect a little traffic because the beach town of Destin is a beautiful gem in its-self. Every step of the process was prompt and efficient. His staff was courteous and very knowledgable. One can tell, that what the they do at Destin Plastic Surgery is serious business, all the while the staff seems to be happy. The lady who took our money was even witty. Joan, Dr. Burden's nurse, was easy for me to talk to. She made me comfortable taking before and after pictures and had an abundance of information. I didn't even turn out to be the size I wanted AND one breast it noticeably larger than the other. I got a breast augmentation by Dr.Ennis. It hasn't even been 24 hours, so I mostly wanted to write a review about the staff experience and then later on update regarding the actual surgery. So, here goes. From the time I got to the upstairs office for my consultation, pre-op and the surgery, all just received was perfect service and amazing freindliness. Dr. Ennis made me feel VERY comfortable about all my wishes and goals for the results and just has amazing bedside manner. He didn't make me feel rushed or crazy...even when I brought out about 30 different photos to show him. He reworked the 3D image for me and let me see anything I wanted. He also responded to any e-mail very timely and was pleasant. My pre-op nurse was so unbelievable. I feel like I can owe my calmed nerves to her. She was very talkative and kept my mind off of everything. She even showed me her scar under her arm to ease my nerves about it being visible (couldn't even see it..and I tried hard to find it). In general, I wish I could give them a 20 star rating related to staff and bedside manner from the doctors (anesthesiologist was very helpful and explained everything as well). This is kind of a long review, so if you want the short version here it is: go to Dr.. Ennis for your BA! Your breast augmentation is a surgery requiring an experienced, well-respected surgeon; you have to get it right the first time, and Dr. Ennis at Destin Plastic Surgery will make sure that you get great results. I've had two breast augmentations performed by Dr. Ennis., and I was thrilled with both of them! The first BA was seven years ago, and since then I've lost weight so I wanted to get them reduced (I knew they had to be periodically changed out anyway). Even after seven years and weight loss, I had no sagging and no cosmetic issues with my first BA. I chose Dr. Ennis because he is renowned in the plastic surgery community for his no scar on the breast technique and his track record of patient satisfaction. He also uses 3D computer imaging to show you before you have the surgery what your post-op breasts will look like based on your chosen implant size. I was so happy with my experience at Destin Plastic Surgery that when I decided on an implant reduction, there was no question - I was going back to Dr. Ennis! Reducing implant size is very complicated; the doctor has to pick the perfect implant size in order to fill your scar pocket without needing a breast lift. They also need to choose moderate or high profile, etc. - so many variables that have to be considered! We decided on an implant size that he thought would be the smallest we could go with and still have cleavage and no sagging. Before the surgery, I told him to go even lower if he thought it would work, and he did! That means that he took the time to try out several sizers during my surgery to pick the right one; I really appreciated that! They are healing perfectly, and I'm yet again so happy with my results! I don't have a scar, and my breasts still look and feel completely real. Post surgery discomfort is very minimal and the recovery time is short. Bottom line: look up videos of a BA surgery, and you'll see that surgeons need an artistic touch when doing a procedure. They also need enough experience to know how your skin and body composition will react to the implant. Dr. Ennis does an incredible job of this! Dr. Ennis and Lisa guided me through the entire process with both surgeries. They were available at all times to answer any questions I had. They were professional, kind, and considerate. They made both of my experiences stress-free and actually enjoyable! All staff members at Destin Plastic Surgery, including the nurses, receptionists - anyone I came into contact with - were very kind and helpful. They go above and beyond to make your experience a happy one. The facility is beautiful and clean. I am SO grateful to have found Dr. Ennis and only be two hours away from one of the country's top plastic surgery doctors. Leah Diamond and her ProFractal Laser skin procedures.. EVERYONE should have these! They have improved my skin texture 100% and I'm going back for another one. Just saw my regular doc for my yearly and she remarked that my skin looked 5 years younger than last year! Less wrinkles and MUCH improved texture.
