Dr. Stickler took my MOHS report from other city and scheduled me for surgery within two weeks. Never met him until the day of surgery and I can assure you. Dr. Stickler deserves more than 5 stars. His bedside manner, knowledge, and tender way of explaining the process of removal was impeccable. His staff was so gentle and kind. Ginger stated that she would call me before that days end (before she left the office for the day) to see if I wanted to schedule for the next day. Ginger did not call me. The next morning, I received a message asking me to confirm my appointment. I did not schedule an appointment so I immediately called Coastal Skin . The receptionist informed me that Ginger had in fact scheduled me but that she would cancel it. I then received another call from Ginger, stating that she had gotten busy the previous day and while not checking my availability had gone ahead and scheduled me and if I was not going to be there , I would then owe them $50.00 for a "No Show" fee. I did NOT schedule an appointment but I did receive a bill for $50.00. I spoke with several staff, each time being told an office Manager would get back to me. I have done virtual and in-person with all surgeons, which means more than one appointment per surgeon. I can say unequivocally, Dr. Miller is by far the most compassionate and patient surgeon I have met with. She's calm, which calmed me. She's informative, which is important for such a huge procedure (mommy makeover), and last but not least she is kind and welcoming. She even took the time to meet virtually with my husband, as he had many questions. I met with a few other surgeons and quite frankly left feeling discouraged and disgusted with myself and yes they made me feel that way! I wasn't a $$ with her, but a person and others, again, didn't make me feel that way. It's not about what it costs, it's about the comfort level I feel with Dr. Miller! My husband and I both took time off work, booked airfare, rental car, and Airbnb, and spent thousands traveling from out of state for my surgery. At my pre-op appointment, the doctor said he should not operate because I use nicotine patches. (Maybe mention that BEFORE my pre-op?) This requirement was never disclosed prior to booking. They sent me a restricted medication list and a restricted supplement list, which I followed 100% -- nicotine patches were not listed anywhere. Their excuse? The staff member who should have provided the nicotine policy was "new". Because of their internal mistake, I'm left with thousands in wasted expenses and now even more wasted time filing a lawsuit and a complaint with the BBB just to try to recover my losses. This experience was shockingly unprofessional. My husband and I kindly requested basic compensation for the out-of-pocket expenses from this wasted trip and (not surprisingly) never heard back. Their silence just doubles down on how poorly they treat their patients. Truly disappointing.
