My daughter had to be taken by ambulance the first time to the hospital, admitted and stayed over night and had to undergo anesthesia, and an endoscopy, which, if not for the doctors error would not have had to endure. Upon a follow up visit to the Dr and for those of you horsing why would you go back to the same Dr well we were $38,000 into it so we had to finish this with this Dr the doctor then proceeded to drop the same exact instrument down her throat again now the doctor claims she has never in all her ears drop this instrument down anybody's throat, but yet managed to do it to my daughter twice my daughter already had issues with Dentist, hence needing such extensive dental care the Dr solution to this was not to send her to the hospital this time just go home and pass it on your own. I'm sure you will with no regard for the fact that by doing that if she had aspirated that instrument into her lungs, it could've killed her, but because she didn't want it on record that it happened twice we just sent her home. now in speaking with the doctor and trying to work this out amicably and come to some type of reconciliation the doctors solution to that was and is, oh I can take care of her bottom teeth for you for $35,000 more is she kidding, in what world would I ever do that? Booked an appointment through ZocDoc. Researched them and they took my insurance. They also work Saturdays. Seemed a great fit for my family. However within an hour of making the appointment received a call to confirm. I spoke quickly, as I too am in healthcare and don't answer the phone while at work. I shared my email asked for patient forms to be sent. That way I could arrive at 9am. Not earlier to complete the forms. My app was for 9am the following Saturday . Wednesday I even emailed them my prior dental X-rays. Thought that was confirmation enough I was coming. Throughout the week I received 9 phone calls and text messages as reminders. On my way to the offices they called again. I printed out the paperwork had it completed and on a clipboard as I walked in at 8:59am. There were 4 staff members there no one else in the waiting room no other cars in the parking lot. The first thing I heard was 'your late'. What a warm welcome. It was wet, rainy and as a type 1 diabetic i do my to be prepared. I was on time! But wow no hello or welcome. I was about to hand over my completd forms when I mentioned the overwhelming calls were a bit aggressive. The office manager, Maureen response was so many people are no shows. My response was TY for respecting me and putting me in with others. I was sure those others also emailed their reports, X-rays and verbally confirmed at least 3 out of the 9 times I was contacted. At that point I decided to leave. They lost a family because of aggressive patient treatment. I'm sitting in the parking lot already booked another appointment for 2 hours from now. Best Dental office I have ever been too. I'm very particular about my teeth, so I like top notch care. At Designing Smiles you get that. I would recommend any of the doctors. As for cleanings I would absolutely recommend Chris she is absolutely wonderful care and extremely gentle. And believe me you will know your teeth are clean. You see it and feel it. Dr. Mamah and her team are absolutely amazing. I received veneers and to say she is great at her craft is an understatement. I made an appointment for my X-rays and consultation which she had a special for. I had chipped my tooth and has major discoloration. After my X-rays I made another appointment to meet with Ebony (very pleasant) who went through my cost for my veneers and what I can do to make everything go smoothly which was pretty much just brush and show up. Not even a week later I went to get my temps which looked breathtaking. I almost cried when I had to take them out for my veneers because Dr. Mamah shaped them sooooo perfectly. I always see people complain that their temps look bad and all I can think is I must of gotten so lucky to find this dentistry because I received nothing but compliments and they felt super comfortable. I finally received my veneers last week and so far they are just amazing. They look soo real and feel super smooth. People who know ive gotten veneers can't believe these teeth are not mine. I've never been so content with a dentist before and even though I live an hour away, I never want to go anywhere else. Designing Smiles 121 Elm Ave, Hackensack, NJ 07601 Dentist Donna Sumler 483 points a day ago I received a bill this morning for a visit to this dentist in 2019. At that time I paid my bill IN FULL. Even with insurance it was rather expensive. The dentist recomended a root canal. After starting the root canal I was told that it would be another week before the next visit. The final product is a tooth where the black base can be seen at the gumline. This is poor dental work. After the root canal was completed the dentist said I had other cavities. I asked why they were not mentioned on the initial visit. She asked Dr. Mamah to come in when I asked to see the x-rays. When Dr. Mamah showed them to me I pointed out that those were not cavities. She then said that they were potential cavities that she could take care of for me before they became a problem by drilling and filling them. I came in yesterday for an emergency filling. I didn't have good experiences with my past dentist so I found this one online. I was immediately impressed. The front desk girl was super nice and the dental assistant was extremely kind and gentle with me. The doctor came in dr mahma and you can tell that she's a pro. I love how straightforward she was and how much she cared about my teeth. She explained everything to me and I was completely comfortable being there. The billing lady Cynthia was also very nice. I'm glad I finally found my family dentist and will be making an appointment for the rest of my family. read more

I haven't gone to the dentist due to my extreme fear and horrible past experiences. All of the ladies in this office took every ounce of anxiety away and truly treat you with respect. They understand that dental work is frightening and painful but of all the visits I've had I have not felt pain whatsoever. Dr. Jang is phenomenal! She is gentle and makes sure that you are okay every step of the procedure. Dr. Mamah, whom I haven't had, is also very welcoming and warm to make you feel even better. I am writing this review in hopes I can save at least one person the time and money I was swindled out of through Dr. Mahma. Dr. Mahma is either a thief and liar OR grossly incompetent who relies on the poor information from her staff. I had to leave my previous dentist due to the fact they no longer accepted my insurance. I did some research (not well enough) and decided on going to Designing smiles. I've only had ONE cavity in my entire life, but after a couple of cleanings from Dr. Mahma's staff, I was informed I had four cavities and a fractured tooth. (I later learned none of this was true.) This cost me upwards of $2,000! I due to my fear of dentists, I decided to trust her and get it taken care of. She gave me the option of light anesthesia which would put me in an in and out phase over 4 hours while they take care of my mouth. After this I asked her about Invisalign to help with the gap in my teeth. After almost a year of aligners, the gap in my teeth are fixed, but I'm left with a terrible bite, my jaw does not close all the way, and I am left with grinding in my back left side. She "tried" to fix this but nothing has helped. The real kicker was when I went in for my teeth cleaning this past fall, I was told I need a deep cleaning, a bone graft, and laser work to remove "the excess skin in the middle of my two front teeth"- where my gap always formed. I waited in Kat's office for 20 minutes for someone to explain the pricing only to get some woman that works in the front office talk to me in the most condescending way and give me a BILL FOR $5,000+. Please remember I've had almost immaculate teeth before this.... One cavity before coming to this office. I went to get a second AND third opinion. I was SHOCKED to learn that the first procedure that was done- the fractured tooth and 4 cavities- was false. There was no evidence of a fractured tooth. In fact, there was only evidence of where an old cavity was filled- my first cavity. The other dentists also looked and said that the "cavities" that Dr. Mahma's office "filled" weren't true either. They said that the material they used to "fill" the cavities just coated my teeth and didn't go down far enough to fill any cavity whatsoever. It was just enough material to coat a stain. SO WHAT DID DR. MAHAMA AND HER STAFF DO TO ME FOR 4 HOURS WHILE I WAS UNDER? The two dentists also said that the second procedure, the one that I was quoted of for $5,000 was COMPLETELY unnecessary. They both said I need a cleaning and I was asked when I had gotten my last one. I told her Dr. Mahma's office "cleaned" my teeth just weeks before. They were shocked by this and said the cleaning was not done well enough and I needed another one that was properly done. Both dentists said this. They also told me to floss more. I walk away from Dr. Mahma's office swindled of $2,000+, a messed up bite that I will have to go get fixed from someone else, and ALMOST $5,000 additional dollars! Please read my review. Please do NOT spend time at Designing Smiles. Their bedside manner may be good, but DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. Dr. Mahma is a thief and a liar OR incompetent. The absolute best. I have the biggest dental anxiety, Dr Mamah and her staff put me a complete ease. I have never been more comfortable and pain free. This is my forever dentist. The entire staff is kind gentle caring and sensitive no matter how embarrassed you may feel they make you feel like you're home. I'm am the most fearful patient and I am actually looking forward to my next visit!! Whatever hesitation you feel go to dr Mamah her and her staff will make it so much better. I can not recommend this place enough. I feel such a sense of relief knowing I have finally found a place for me. Super friendly, extremely personable.. you will probably feel like you're talking to people you've known a while. As a personal who has neglected their oral health, my first trip to the dentist in FOUR years was smooth and painless. Dr. Mahmah was very thorough but didn't frighten me with the amount of work that needs to be done, which is a lot. She made me feel very at ease and that the work can and will be done at a pace of which I am comfortable with. Her staff is equally as pleasant. Dr Mamah is wonderful I came in with extreme pain and a lot of necessary dental work. My fear of dentist is why I needed so much work I kept putting it off. Well the time came and in Dr Mamah's chair I was. Her patients and compassion was fantastic. Ended up with (2) 4 hour sedation treatments for all my work both Dr Mamah and her staff treated me wonderfully. And I'm no longer traumatized by my visits there. Designing smiles is by far the best dentist experience I've ever had. Walking in, my fear for dentist was at an all time high. They picked up on my anxiety instantly and did everything to put me at ease. They explained the process that would take place step by step and answered any questions or concerns I had. They worked around my schedule and even agreed to do my procedure on a day they normally weren't open. Debra even agreed to come in on her day off, which I'll never be able to adequately express my appreciation for. The day I came in for my procedure I was sedated. I honestly don't remember anything that happened during the procedure, which is perfectly fine with me.
