I used to really love this service and am a monthly subscriber. But ever since they did a recent expansion this past year, they have elevated their prices and are constantly in sell mode. They can't keep up with their growth. I get designs late from overworked designers in the Philippines who have a hard time understanding requests. Find a graphic artist directly on Upwork. Absolutely terrible experience. They're quality is sub par. We wound up fixing all of their work. They tried saying we didn't provide detailed work, yet when we spoke to their "manager" level folks, they said we provided more context than most. The time of getting things completed was sold as same day, that was almost never the case. Especially considering we would have to go through multiple rounds of revisions. I signed my company up with Design Pickle to help us create designs to be printed on merchandise (e.g. t-shirts, stickers). I've been with them a month and have already had an opportunity to work with two designers to produce over a dozen graphics for commercial use. Overall, I'm happy with the service. I engage with teams at Design Pickle every day and customer service is pretty responsive to my inquiries and my designers have been friendly, efficient, and real troopers (they'll do as I ask even though I'm sure some of my requests break every good design norm). They have tools and processes in place for iterating over designs (and because of the nature of my business, there are lots of iterations) which I found to be good for handling one or two designs in the pipeline at a time. I think Design Pickle overall does a good job of setting expectations with what types of graphics design they can and cannot do. Basically, their designers take assets you provide or stock images from their libraries and transform them into something you want. However, while they say they don't do "complex illustrations", what they really mean is, they don't do "any illustrations (unless you twist their arms)". My main designer (Sheena, who is awesome by the way), has taken my crudely drawn concepts written on Post-It notes and magically created some amazing graphics based off them. . .but the final products always incorporate one or more stock images. I even requested a design with a hand drawn smiley face and what I got was a stock image of one ^_^. Because my account has access to Getty Images, this hasn't been a serious limitation, but for designs that need a more illustrative touch or designs I want to be free of licensing restrictions, I've had to turn elsewhere. On the downside, I'm not a fan of their request management tool, JAR. It seems optimized to make the design process on the backend go smoothly, but on the client-facing side, it's seriously deficient when it comes to managing many requests in the pipeline at once. I've been in conversations with the customer service team and the product manager about its limitations. Hopefully they will make some improvements in this area before my company grows larger and I need to move more designs through the pipeline. Overall, I'm happy with Design Pickle. They have a positive attitude and seem to be in start-up hustle mode (lots of energy!). And more importantly, I've been pleased with the resulting graphics. read more

Overall I like Design Pickle's concept. When you sign up they pair you with a designer and the more you work with that person the better results you get. My only advice would be not to expect designs to come through immediately especially if you have a large volume of designs that need to be done. If you're on a tight schedule and have a lot of work I'd suggest going with a free-lance designer or an agency that can devote more than one person to your project. read more

I'm a pretty tough sell on services, and I have to admit I was a bit skeptical that I could really get 24 hour design services that wouldn't be a hot mess. I have spent countless hours in the past going back/forth with freelance graphic designers that never seemed to "get" the feel for our company, and they were SUPER slow. Then came Design Pickle. It's been the best decision I've ever made! They delivered EXACTLY as promised, and the designer they paired me with was a perfect fit. By the third project she totally "got" us and I swear she can read my mind now. I no longer spend hours a month trying to cobble my own graphics together in PSE---I just fill out a form and "magically" my ideas come to life by the next day. I couldn't be happier and honestly, when you add in all the hours I have gotten back in my day, the service pays for itself VERY quickly. The quality was the worst, to say I had to redo it would be an understatement (they didn't line up things, no bleed margin, colours and fonts weren't followed). When things did go wrong it was days before I got an email back.... not to be relied on for anything. Also super expensive (cause you ask for a few things they say they are too busy) and sneaky they defaulted an addition $25 a month for stock images (an account you can't access) and never disclosed. If you read on Reddit the CEO goes after anyone who does a bad post so for not having my name smeared as he has done others. I am posting it here, saying don't use it and if you have double check your invoice/bills if you use it. Having just cancelled another design subscription service due to a terrible experience, I was expecting mediocre, to do a bit more work, to fix the source files myself to make them presentable like before...But I was surprised. The process was very easy. They have two short videos to aid in the set up, they assign a designer in a day, and requests are SO easy to set up. I go into the system, input the info, add any samples and I get an email confirmation. From there, I can work off email for revisions. Each task comes with all links, fonts and source files. They are updated if revisions are requested. My professional life? It just got waaay easier. The old company we used, I had to literally type in the time I was submitting a task on a clunky system that had no notifications, I was asked to download and then UPLOAD their source files for them, they had a 3 business day turnaround. I had to wait for task closure..before I could submit another. It was a nightmare. I have a feeling Design Pickle is a good example of what a graphic design subscription service should be. And....that a lot of these negative reviews are from competitors and graphic designers. The quality is industry standard +, the onboarding is simple, the designer has a wonderful personality and the price is phenomenal. As a Director of Operations, I've been through over 6 designers in a year and another subscription service--with that experience in selection, I highly recommend this service. read more
