Wanted to get my nails done before my birthday and this place was recommended to me by a friend. First, I was able to get a next day appointment, but they did also take walk ins. Second, I find the atmosphere in a nail salon to be of the utmost importance, and a lot of places disappoint in some way. Design Nail however did not! They were so bubbly, happy and pleasant! I didn't feel one iota of "weirdness" at any time. Most important of all, my nails are GORGEOUS!!! They can do all sorts of designs, so I pulled up something I liked on Pinterest and she said "yeah ok!" And it looks just like I wanted! They even do marbles nails, which I look forward to trying another time. It's been a looooong time since I found a nail place to call home but I think this may be it! I've never been more pleased not just with my nails but with the way I felt when I left. And I want more of that! read more

This is my favorite place to get my nails done. My favorite part is the pedicure. They have the best massage chairs around!!! The chair even massages your butt! Plus they give the BEST pedicures. They actually use a razor for bad callouses- and its included in the price! So many other places charge extra for callous removal. But if the ladies don't think you need the razor they use the pumice instead because they don't want to cut you- very considerate. The ladies that work there are so sweet and so a fabulous job. TQ is amazingly talented and has plenty of regular clients who will only come to him. This is an excellent nail salon- with amazing prices. Only $25 for an amazing pedicure!!!!! read more

I had gone here a few years ago, and was not happy, but I thought I'd give them another chance. TQ was really friendly, but unfortunately he was not the one doing my nails. The woman rushed through my ANC. At the end she had me wash my hands, and when I sat back down, she just sat there with her arms crossed! Finally, I had to ask her what I owed. I got a regular ANC, and it was $38, and I didn't get anything special!!!!! She didn't even put lotion on my hands. My nails are bumpy and I am not happy. I will not be going back!!!!!!!! Came here with my sister and her friend for my first pedicure and a classic manicure. It was clean, nothing special inside. Average decor for a nail salon. Seemed like a popular place, many customers were regulars and came in to see the same person. I was always afraid of the nail tech being too rough on my nails during a pedi but she was very careful and used clean tools all the time. The manicure was pretty rushed and they didn't do the best job painting but I had accidentally smudged my toes after the pedicure and they fixed it for me. Overall I was satisfied. read more

Very bad business TQ told me to make a deposit then when I got there he made me wait an extra 20 minutes while he finished up another client. But if I would've came even 10 mins late to the appointment he would've kept my deposit and put someone else in my place. He was not very accommodating he rushed through my work I spent $150 on my nails to be rushed work I had to tell TQ to fix multiple things because he was rushing to close he got irritated. They all seem to treat elderly white women who come in and spend less a lot better. He does not treat his customers of color with the same respect. I had two of my pinky nails come off after 2 weeks of having the service $150 nails including $10 tip I asked how much to fix the two pinky nails and he said $30. I will never spend another dime there. Just because you're good at something doesn't mean the quality of how to treat customers should go down. read more

I always try to give second chances, especially when the first impression of an establishment is a bad one. So, I decided to give Design Nail Salon another go. I really, really wanted a pedicure and needed a wax, so I gave it a shot. The girl who did my eyebrow wax did a phenomenal job. Very neat, even, and straight.. and she plucked the ones the wax didn't get, and even trimmed them. You don't always get those extras, so It nice. My pedicure was the best I've had in a LONG time. I'd been going to a place over in Niskayuna where they do half the service for twice the price. For $35 I got the mani/pedi combo. I soaked my feet in in the warm foot bath while sitting in the massage chair. The tech trimmed and filed up my toenails, trimmed my cuticle, got rid of my calluses, massaged my feet/legs, and then painted them a beautiful pink. It was awesome. At the place in Niskayuna, they charge $5 just to scrub my feet with the same crap I can buy at CVS and do in the shower myself. This should be INCLUDED in the cost of the pedicure! Design Nail Salon is a great value! Not only are they affordable, but they don't skimp on the services.. I was very pleased! I regret giving this place a bad review the first time around.. it really had nothing to do with their services, just the impression I got from a conversation I overheard, which was a tad bit on the offensive side if you are someone's grandmother. Which I'm not. At any rate, I am giving them 4 stars..It's been four days since my pedicure, and my feet still look and feel great! read more

The previous reviewers and I have totally different ideas of what a mani/pedi experience should be, because I thought this place was terrible - for many reasons. I was in the area visiting my boyfriend's family for the holidays, and the reviews were good so I thought I'd check it out. First of all, when I walked in I immediately realized there must be no ventilation system. It's been an hour since I left and my clothes still stink like chemicals. Second of all, the guy who did my nails watched tv the whole time and jacked up my feet with both the clipper and the cuticle cutter. I wondered if he's ever had any technical training at all. Third of all, the cost was $35 for a basic mani/pedi, which is more like NYC prices. Also, why was I asked to wash my hands after the lotion? That makes no sense. There were many other issues (like the filthy, toothpaste-stained mirror) but you get the gist.. FYI, although I felt like it was the worst mani/pedi situation ever, I still tipped $10 because I felt horrible for the very pregnant woman who has to spend all day breathing in those chemicals. read more

this place just lost me as a customer. first, their hours are already slightly ridiculous as it is in that they close at 6pm on SATURDAYs and are closed on Sundays. I show up at 4:30 today (Saturday), and am asked what I would like. I tell the man I'd like a pedicure then proceed to pick my color. A few minutes later, i'm told they closed at 4 "for the holiday," which is on Monday!!!! give me a ******* break!!!! such a shame because I really enjoyed coming here. read more
