Location is good. Service is friendly and beds are okay. No other positive points. This hotel is…read moreold, tired and worn out. It is not very clean. The rooms (at least mine) feels like stepping back in time 20 years or so. And not in a good way. Musty smell that doesn't dissappear even with opening the windows the whole night. Bathroom that is not clean, have to step in the bath to take a shower (not much water pressure so the measly curtain is no problem really) Breakfast is very basic - read "plastic cheese" and tough bake-off rolls. The chairs in the breakfast room were no less than filthy. Would not recommend.

Contrary to other review, I found our room neat and sophisticated, by US standards, but wth…read moreEuropean bedding(a thermofoam pallet on top of a foam base. Not sheeted as in US.) Modern plumbing and bath design. The public areas are indeed more dated, and cleaners totally overlook regular cleaning of carpet in the lift. Location is excellent, across street from central rail and bus station, and adjacent to large old-town retail/restaurant/bar blocks. Has bar and restaurant attached, though we did use them. Starbucks and McDonalds across the street, if needed. Biggest complaint: no air conditioning! You'd think this would not be a problem on days that were only in 60F's(15-20C,) but the inside rises to upper 70F's inside; difficult to sleep. Hotel discouraged opening windows for relief, but this would also have allowed outside noise. Informed another guest of fan in room; ours had none. The television offering is also sporadic, channels come and go. Fair selection of English channels as the often subtitle them for their own entertainment, and better choice than at our stay in Amsterdam.

When most people picture traveling to the Netherlands, the first thought to come to mind is…read moreprobably Amsterdam with it's old world meets modern city look and feel. I never would have imagined traveling an hour outside of the city by train to a rather secluded hotel in the countryside, nor would it be my first choice but our primary purpose for this particular trip was a conference in Arnhem/Oosterbeek and this just so happened to be our second destination on our Benelux (minus the "lux") trip. Our room at the Bilderberg was spacious as far as European hotel rooms go and the bathroom was twice the size of the one in Amsterdam. The bathtub was a true soaking tub which was much appreciated on the two very rainy Autumn days which I stayed there. Very clean and well taken care of hotel. Every modern convenience and beautiful, peaceful hotel grounds. Trails, tennis courts, etc. The lounge was comfortable and served up great sandwiches. We hung out in the bar a couple of nights for cocktails with hubby's business associates. In this part of the world, cranberry and vodka doesn't translate very well but we had a good time and managed to meet a few friendly locals. The service was good. Almost everyone spoke English to some degree so communication wasn't an issue. Walls were a little thin but our hotel room was down a fairly private corridor. My only main issue with this hotel was it's "middle of nowhere" location. We didn't have a car and had to rely mostly on taxis to get to the other conference locations. No shops anywhere within walking distance which was a PIA (pain in the ass) considering I was not a conference attendee and had two days all to my self. Hmmm... in hindsight I guess there are worse things than staying at somewhat decent hotels with nothing to do but read and cat nap all day... At least I got over my jet lag pretty fast.

This is considered a very nice hotel in The Netherlands. Personally, I thought it was fine, and…read morewould stay there again, but I was a little surprised after all the hype I had heard about it. It is on lovely grounds though. Stunning. Middle of a park, and you can walk in the park on nice paths etc. The rooms are on the smaller side, or the rooms I was in anyway, 2 different ones two different stays. I do think they have different "levels" of rooms, and I got the lesser level. I imagine because I booked through hotels.com or some other discount website. The breakfast, included in the room price, was nice, and the restaurant seating area is gorgeous. I overlooked the gardens and it was a great way to start the day, especially since my rooms both faced out over the back of the hotel, which was not very pretty, and at times loud with trucks coming in and out with deliveries etc. The bar area is also lovely, and there were many guests sitting there whenever I went by it. NO pressure to have another drink, or one at all, you can sit there and read the newspaper with ease and comfort. Th parking lot is a little off to the side of the Hotel, which is fine with no rain, but I imagine would be annoying if it was raining. The hotel does rent bikes out (I think it was a nominal fee, more to ensure getting the bike back I think), and that is always a nice touch. I'd stay here again if the price was right, and if I had a car. This would be a difficult place to stay without a car.
