    Great park under the bridge!

** Dog friendly * on leash * p/u -bags are provided * bring a bowl and water Great little park under Suicide Bridge/ Colorado Street Bridge. Nice path to walk around. There is a kids playground equipment area. The parking lot is on the smaller side. We were there on a Sunday around 2pm and had to wait about 15 minutes for a parking spot. There is also an entrance at Arroyo and Westminster. Neighborhood street, I did not check parking signs. The restroom building looks like a cute little bungalow. Great view of the Colorado St Bridge!

Desiderio Neighborhood Park is located at Arroyo and Colorado Boulevard under the historic Colorado Street Bridge. This small neighborhood park includes picnic tables, benches, restrooms, kids playground and also small trails if you want to walk or run around. It's close to the Lower Arroyo trail. photogenic views from all angels.

I bring my dog here regularly because they have a doggie water fountain. It's a well kept park with sandy paths. There's not too much shade, so I would say it's better for walking around than picnicking in. It offers a gorgeous view of the bridge from La La Land. It's a smaller park but has a lot to offer.

Taking a break in the shade.

THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL PARK ====================== My husband and I have rode our bikes past this park multiple times in the past and I was determined to stop last Friday. The Desiderio Neighborhood Park is located at Arroyo and under the historic Colorado Street Bridge. This beautiful park looks really new and is so nice in the afternoon when the Colorado Street Bridge provides shade. It's a great place to take a little break. There's lots of benches, picnic tables, bike racks and parking as well. There are also restrooms available. When we were there on Friday, February 10, 2023 there were lots of California poppies blooming all over their 3.8 acres of space.

Cute small park right under the Colorado street bridge. Plenty of parking and a bathroom too! Came here to take some car pictures because it was not busy on a weekday. Great place to park and take nice pics with the bridge in the background. Make sure to pick up after yourself!

    Cool looking bridge.

Such a cute place and well maintenance! I took my dogs eye doctor in Pasadena and I wanted to walk her a bit after. I found this place by Google map so I visited. Has maybe 5 parking spots and I only saw one person with her baby. You can see the bridge and take cool pics for sure. Mostly wood chips and no grass but some flowers planted. There is nice bathroom there but not super clean inside compare with its outside look. I just walk a bit with my dog and used bathroom. I also took bunch of pics for my Instagram.

When were out riding our bicycle we always make a pit stop at this park to take selfies of the old Pioneers Bridge. This small park offers the perfect angle to take a picture. Local families bring their young children to use the playground. There's also a restroom with beautiful decorated tile in the entrance.

Desiderio Neighborhood Park is a hidden gem of Pasadena. Tucked away underneath the 134 freeway, the little park offers breath taking views of the Colorado Street Bridge from underneath that are complemented by masterfully landscaped trails. Functionally as a park, it is excellent as well. Very clean/new facilities. And there are barely any people here! You 1000% need to visit this park if you are are visiting nearby such as the Norton Simon Museum. Amenities: Restroom, drinking fountain, playgrounds, benches. Everything is spiffy clean and not many people there. Parking: There is a small gated lot. It was 80% full on a hot Sunday afternoon. Since it's gated, be sure to check hours.

Another hidden gem in Pasadena. I love coming to this park so much! I run here and it's such a serene place with one of the best views of the city. The bridge is stunning too! There's a small playground for kids too! If you're in the area, I highly recommend checking it out!

Another main attraction is the 3.3-mile loop trail that goes around the Rose Bowl & Gold Course. Occasionally, I'll come here for an early morning run and I'm here once a year to participate in Pasadena Human's annual fund raiser - the Wiggle Waggle Walk. The park is spacious and there is plenty of room for vendor booths, demonstration areas, and doggie costume contests. Participants have the option of walking the 3.3-mile loop or the one-mile route around the multi-purpose field. The park is nicely maintained as are the restrooms and parking is plentiful.

Case in point, I want to express that the…read moreArlington Garden in Pasadena is a green oasis amidst urban noise and pace but that would say little since people consider their backyard and their local parks to be a green space of peace. And they would be right- who am I to judge the green that someone holds precious whether it be jade from feudal China or a patch of blades that are bed for the soul to rest. So I am left with one task: to express the serene beauty of this place that is also engaging in a quiet way, with almost ethereal words to truly defend and display that this, in all its glory, is a green oasis that wins by a short shot. The grounds are not huge, it is small but comes close to being medium. But what I loved is that its green branches and brown barks and twigs were immersive. I had entered a green swirl that moved all around me in stillness of movement but blurs of garden spirits. The place was like an outside museum that honors mother earth and her mantra of tender care that explains how flowers grow best. One of the most engaging experiences was their wishing tree. It was about two to four big trees with hanging wishes written by everyday folk. As I walked the steps to the trees, as I passed between them my skin could feel the words of hope hanging from branches. It was like the cards spoke in lovely whispers that reminded me that days of beauty are created when people do not forget to see that joyous petals that are in the wind and all around in the everyday. And as one note reminded us, joy is not ready made, to find it takes action. Reading the notes was a way in which I elected joy, as an act of resistance toward anger and disapointment. There was also this gazebo with a statue of a greek goddess. These are guesses of mine, I did not find some type of placards to confirm my notions. She was framed in the gazebo by a quasi-window. I entered the small gazebo and sat in the only green bench maybe big enough for two.I did not understand why she was giving me her back, I wanted to face her. But then I realized that Demeter or Gaia (maybe?) was not facing me because she was looking at her creation, like any person would when they have a garden to admire. From that seat I saw a man doing Tai-Chi and being filmed by his partner in all red. I sat and viewed him quietly and ask that whatever he was calling forth with his movements also entered my own person. From this seat, I also saw a pregnant woman taking pictures. She was wearing a white dress with a tasteful floral pops around. At times, she laughed with a wide smile, at times she held the bundle with her hands. It was seeing a place of growth, welcome a being with life about to begin. Her partner joined and they were directed into stances that made sense--- like the one where they look longingly at each other while he held her, and she held the coming boy. I could see their happiness, I could see their true connection, and I knew that the baby was being born into comfort and love. It was great reminder that sometimes life blooms with ease into joy. I also saw a lizard run and move its neck, both in a funny way. I saw a sole butterfly flutter. I saw folks sitting, relaxing, eating, all in with a calm demeanor. So I would like to think that this place is a green oasis or at least a place where rest is each to come by.

Total about 10mi from the top of Lake - Echo Mountain - Castle Canyon trail - Inspiration Point - Sam Merrill trail - Echo Mountain and back down to Lake. DEFINITELY a strenuous hike and would highly recommend hiking poles, sunscreen, water, and snacks! The view is incredible, especially with tons of fresh snow everywhere. Hiked this early March 2023 and the Castle Canyon trail leading off from Echo Mountain (a decent hike in its own right) is pretty challenging, if not a bit brutal in some areas: slippery snow, downed trees and bushes blocking the path, and a heavy incline. Again, highly recommend poles. Once at Inspiration Point the view is phenomenal. The Pacific Ocean, Palos Verdes, Catalina Island, and even Anaheim and Irvine are all visible from the top, and downtown LA too of course. Lots of picnic benches and photo-op-worthy view finders for major Southern California sites. Gorgeous San Gabriel mountains in the background. The Sam Merrill trail leading down the backside of the mountain (and then curving back around to the south/west) is much more tame (but still a bit precarious with 2+ feet of snow) and very sun-exposed all the way back to Echo Mountain. All in all probably one of the more butt-kicking Los Angeles hike. Takes about 4-5hrs round trip depending on your pace.

The hike from Cobb Estate to Echo Mountain was a breeze for us, but the hike from there to Inspiration was a whole other story. I recommend wearing long pants as the second half of the hiking path isn't as clear and pretty narrow on some parts. We took our time and treaded lightly but still got some minor scratches on our legs from all of the branches and leaves. My husband started getting irritated from walking into all of the spider webs lol. Not sure if the actual hike was 2 miles from Echo Mountain because it felt so much longer than that. We started getting really tired near the end from all the incline. We almost gave up until my husband saw the view of Inspiration Point. Once we got there, the views made it all worth it! Would we do it again? Maaaaaybe lol.
