Amazing small restaurant that really has amazing food quality. Went in and menu was solid and the staff is really nice. Also the anda paratha was just like the back home pathan owned nashta spots. Really reminded me of the quetta chai spots and good chai. This is so far the best spot ive had in sacramento, way better than many bay area locations and we were visiting. Would recommend others to come here if they want solid pakistani food read more

Go if you want a desi breakfast only!! They excel at that but otherwise their food is pretty mediocre. I would say do take out because their utensils look unwashed, they refused to turn their AC on despite it being 90 degrees out and it was a full house. Everyone's eyes were burning because of the lack of ventilation in the kitchen while the barbecued food. The bathrooms were dirty. The location itself isn't that great. read more

Haven't had curry in a while, so I decided to get some chicken tikka masala, and chicken biryani. Also some rice. I placed the order on door dash and picked it up on my way home. It was ready early which was nice because I arrived sooner than expected. It looked like a mostly pickup spot but I just walked in and my food was ready. There was a woman in the kitchen and it seemed like she was doing everything. Since it's right down the road from my house the food was still piping hot when I unpacked it. I actually find a lot of Indian food too spicy for me but I love chicken tikka masala. Theirs was very delicious, a little spicy at first but it's not painfully spicy. I was surprised that the chicken in the chicken biryani wasn't boneless chunks. The flavor was great however, I probably didn't read the description correctly. Overall, I'd definitely come back, it's on northgate on my way home so it's convenient, and it's one of the only Indian/Pakistani places in the area. read more

Restaurant looks very plain and simple, but very clean and welcoming Food was amazing. It definitely packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. I tried out one of their curries, and it was delicious. Just the right amount of spice with meat, being very succulent and full of flavor as well. I came here after my sister recommended this spot. We are always on the lookout for good Pakistani food in Sacramento and the food here was so good! We got the brain masala, nihari, garlic and roghni nan, kheer and mango lassi. Everything was fresh and very flavorful, perfect spice level. My husband said it was the best Pakistani food he has ever had at a restaurant. We will definitely be back to try more items! read more

They make the best chicken biryani in all of Sacramento. I know the service is slow but they are doing everything to support their business. I do what to share that for a little while they started do smaller portions but now they are regular size portion for the price and I am happy that the owners realized it ! This could have been a 5-star review, but they fell short on several things. The good: the food is fantastic. Absolutely excellent. Good-sized servings, wonderful flavors, it looked good and tasted really good. Bad: they told us there might be a 20 minute wait as there was only 1 person in the kitchen. 45 minutes later, we got our food. During this time, the owners (and parents) allowed a very cute 3-yr old boy to run around the restaurant constantly letting out ear-shattering shrieks (I am not kidding - I have kids, and they're not always well behaved, but this was insane), without a single word of reprimand. No care whatsoever for the appropriateness of this being in a public place or there being other families trying to eat. Jarring to say the least. We got our own water and instruments etc. as they seemed short-staffed. That's not a big deal. I might get takeout from them again, but most likely would not eat there. Again, the food is excellent and the staff very nice, just unbelievably slow. read more

New "mom n' pop" restaurant we decided to give a try to a couple of months ago. We ordered a variety of curries and tandoori grilled meats and nan, everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked deliciously. The owner/operators are very friendly. The decor is not fancy at all, but is of no importance for a place like this, you come for the food. I would recommend the chicken kebabs, the ground meat mixed with spices is very satisfying, perfectly spicy, not too hot, not too mild. It's in a rougher area of town, but you won't feel too unsafe. If you do, just order it to go if you're not used to this area. read more

I will not support a place just because it's halal. We went to try this restaurant for the first time and we weren't expecting any 5-star food as all Pakistani restaurants are sub par in Sacramento area. We were served old food as it has been reheated and we could tell. The taste wasn't good either. Then the ambiance was like everything other Pakistani restaurant terrible. The service was well nothing as it's a self serve place and place wasn't clean either. Please do better!!!!!!! read more

If you are looking for REAL Pakistani food, Desi Curry is the place to tickle your tastebuds. The cook/owner is a very accomodating and delightful Pakistani Woman named Ms. Khan. Her assistants, Kamaljeet and Mudusdr provided prompt and friendly service. Ms. Khan went out of her way to customize my Anda Paratha. All the ingredients were Fresh and Tasty. My husband went for the buffet which did not disappoint. He had the Goat Karahi and the Cholay Halwa Puri as well as some Naan. The breads were made fresh to order. He saw my Paratha and decided to have that as well. Everything was fresh and delicious. He said it was like eating his Mom's food. That, in my opinion, is a true compliment to the chef! I've ordered from this place twice. Both times the food was excellent but I found two long hairs in my second order. It's so disappointing because I was excited to continue buying from this place but now I'm scared I'll find more hair in future dishes I order. I read another review on GrubHub and that person also mentioned seeing hair, but I thought maybe it was a one time incident.. This place is brand new, and the location is not of the best. Don't let that fool you, because the food here is really good and very decent in price. I got goat karahi, and my friend had chicken tikka. Service by Mazan was good as well. This place will definitely get me to come back and try more dishes from their amazing selection. Ordered to-go and they were opened and was very punctual on ready time. The owners were super nice, and the place looked very clean once entering. I went here to grab a quick bite. It's a great little spot and i got a chicken wrap which was good. I would've liked it a bit more spicy but it good enough to enjoy. Service was great people greeted me immediately and thanked me for their business. Be patient they are a new restaurant but food authentic and halal. read more

Wow what a great find. I just heard about this place from a friend and decided to give it a try. Was absolutely amazing as a whole. Food was really tasty and everything was made fresh. The uncle and aunty making the food were super hospitable and welcoming. The food tastes homemade which is super rare for a restaurant. Overall it's a very clean and decently sized restaurant. The tikka masala, goat Karahi, naan and malai boti were fireee. Definitely will be back. Also super nice touch they have a room to pray namaz in. read more

Went to try out this new hidden gem for desi breakfast and it did not disappoint. The food and service were exceptional at this restaurant. We tried the Channa, paratha, puri, nihari, and roti with a cup of their special Chai (doodh Patti). Everything tasted great and authentic. The meat in Nihari was tender and full of flavor and the spices in the channa were perfect. I will definitely be visiting again!! read more

We were able to customize the spice level and sauces when ordering. I always hesitated to order online from their website because it seems like you can't easily customize your spice level or sauces, you can only remove veggies or add assorted extras for an up-charge. Food 4/5 We ordered chicken & rice + 2 falafel for $16.85 (falafel was an extra $1.50) and the takeout box was HEAVY and HOT. They have staff monitoring it during rush hours to insure everything stays topped off. The grilled onions and jalapeños are delicious and the salsas.... I'd go just for that salsa bar!! Their Micheladas (I order with light Modelo) are rimmed with the sweet Mexican tajin (I think it's called)...orange slice, cucumber, and 2 prawns! But the star is the Quesabirria, the consommé! Oh dear god have mercy. I can't eat large volumes and this is the only place that will let me order one. The consomne has been cooked and simmered forever and it's always got good chunks of super tender pulled beef. I can go on but, like I said, I want this place all to myself!! Even my son and his gf come up from SF to order the burritos, which they say are the BEST they've ever had! So happy to see such a GREAT RESTAURANT on NORTHGATE and JUST a couple miles from my home!! Yaaaay!!! Every Friday is MY day to treat myself to this EXCELLENT MEXICAN FOOD TAQUERIA!! I want to try EVERYTHING on the menu!! Especially the soups and the seafood dishes!! Mui Bueno!!! I went with the chicken shawarma bowl on rice, with extra tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta cheese (you can choose four toppings). For sauces I did the garlic and hummus (you pick two). You can tell everything is made fresh. Waited about 12 mins but the owner told me as soon as I ordered (another sign of freshness). As my order was being prepped the owner struck up conversation, a very nice man! Told me that I would like this meal, and I agree. Everything came together real well. I'd probably opt to order the Take Two meal all in half crispy as that my preferred type of chicken; my girlfriend prefers the Half light option more. As it's more meat amd less fat, I just find it less flavorful in general. The young man at the counter was really helpful and friendly, and made ordering really easy.
