After more than 30 years at this church, we made the difficult decision to leave, and I want to share honestly why. Over time, our experience became deeply hurtful. There were interactions that felt dismissive and, at times, like our concerns were not being acknowledged. A pattern developed in leadership dynamics that made it hard for us to feel genuinely heard or respected. What was especially painful was that my wife was never truly given the opportunity to share her perspective. She invested an incredible amount of time and effort helping hold things together during a period when the church was without a pastor. To see that work undone so quickly was both discouraging and disheartening. Because of these experiences, our trust has been broken in a way that we do not feel can be repaired. For that reason, we cannot return. This was not a decision we made lightly, but it reflects our honest experience and the impact it has had on us. read more

I always feel welcome here and yet I can be as inconspicuous as I want. I appreciate the tables very much as I like to take notes and have a place to set my coffee which they allow you to have. I've been wanting to write this review for a while. When I first became a Christian, I started going to this church and I got so much out of it. Fast forward to today, my daughter struggles with believing. I felt the perfect place for her would be the place where I originally started. I prayed that she would get out of it what I did 20 years ago. We got there, my daughter was all smiles, and nobody was friendly. Nobody smiled back. The people at the door handed out the schedule for the morning. NOBODY smiled at her. Nobody was welcoming. The people at the front who served the coffee were SO rude! Not only were they rude, but my daughter bought a doughnut and handed the guy a 20, and he gave her five dollars for change. So basically charged her $15 for a doughnut and she was too intimidated to say anything because he was so rude as it is. It was just a horrible experience. I had such high hopes that she would connect the way that I did a while ago, and it was the worst, rudest, most unfriendly experience that I have ever had in a Christian church and I will not be coming here again. I'm disappointed that my daughter couldn't find what I found in this church 20 years ago. I was just praying that she could relate to the sermon and it could speak to her, but the unfriendly negative experience for the first 20 minutes of being there was enough to turn any hope off. read more

This is my second time here and hoping it'll be a better service from the last time I was here. The two speakers just don't how to make people feel good about Jesus. I enjoy the praise but seriously 5 songs is a bit too much to start service. 3 should be the max. And please don't elongate the songs. The message is never clear and not preached well. Disappointed. I really wanted to like this place. I've visited about 5 Christian churches and this one I thought would have worked out in this area. Tip: Remove the round table because people are too busy talking and are on Google Chat during service and distracting. People should be in the rows facing forward out of respect. read more

Will no longer attend this church due to the emphasis they put on diversity equity and inclusion. I agree with the Supreme Court decision to strike this down with regards to college admissions and do not want to see it propagate in other areas of life such as religion. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 34 Women should remain silent in the churches. This is my church home. I grew up in this church with David Parker. Now Jonathon Rue is there and getting a lot of backlash. I'm reading all if the one star reviews and they are mostly about the school closing. I'm making this review to cancel out a negative one. Jonathon is doing a great job. You don't abandon your church in times of need. If your church leaders need prayer, pray. I love the swemons. I love feeling God's presence. I love the worship. I'm sure closing the school was a hard decision. However, I feel that it was made only after praying and discernment. read more

If you read my very first review you know that I came here to deliver taco meat. I was invited and came a week later after that. We never left! Last week we decided it was time for our great adventure. Yesterday September 29, 2018 we were finally baptized. We are proud Christians and servants to God. We didn't want to do it right away because it didn't feel right. We wanted to know in our heart when it was time. My advice to anyone who hasn't been baptized come and speak to someone. Stay for our services, meet new people, see what the Desert Vineyard can offer you spiritually. We have made new friends who are like family to us and friends that I had no idea they were part of this Christian family. This has been the best decision we have ever made in our lives. We are grateful we found a church that accepts everyone as they are. I can honestly tell you how light I feel loosing all the heaviness on my back. I feel that there is a church home for everyone in the world - a place where you share worship and learn a meaningful message in community, that just fills your heart with happiness. Just as people have different personalities, churches have different personalities. Desert Vineyard is like my soulmate church. If I could describe Desert Vineyard in one word, it would be "genuine." The head pastor, Pastor David, is very smart, eloquent, and humble. His messages always teach you something meaningful, and relate to issues that we all deal with as Christians, and as people. The people at DV are giving, loving, and happy to be there and happy to see you. A main theme at DV is "come as you are", so expect to see people from all walks of life sharing worship and community with each other. I love the way Desert Vineyard is so accepting of people, the way some other churches are not. My two favorite ministries exemplifying this point are the Recovery Ministry (healing for drug and alcohol addictions) and Teen Moms Ministry. DV is aware and compassionate of the realities of the Antelope Valley. They encourage you to get involved, and it really adds to the positive experience of DV. When I lived in the AV, I worked in the Children's Ministry, watching the babies during service (it's where I got my cute baby fix every week). This was so fulfilling and such a great way to spend a Sunday morning! I admire the depth of security precautions CM took to ensure the safety of everyone. I was interviewed and fingerprinted before I was able to volunteer. They're very cautious because DV is located in a high-crime-rate area of Lancaster. DV also does so much community service. Two of my favorite services the church partakes in are Monday Night Manna every week (feeding the local homeless), and building loft houses in Mexico every year (build at DV and shipped to Mexico and assembled by DV volunteers). These are just two on the extensive list of community services, because that is a key value and goal at DV, which is why I'm more than happy to give my tithe to this church. On a more literal note, the building itself is very comfortable, with tons of seating, and even different areas for you to choose to sit. There is the Main Sanctuary, with tons of rows of comfy chairs, and a few tables. You can get a nice cup of coffee and breakfast bite at the stations on the sides for a few bucks. Then there is the smaller Café Sanctuary, with lots of tables and chairs, which broadcasts the live message going on just across the courtyard. The Café Sanctuary is right next to the Café & Bookstore where you can order up your favorite Starbucks drink, made by the friendliest baristas you'll ever encounter (all volunteer, too!) and pick up a CD copy of the latest series. Desert Vineyard also has a Crying Room for fussy kids, and a Nursing Mothers Room, so that everyone can be comfortable and get the message of the service. Another thing I love is the fact that even though I now live almost two hours away, I can still take part online... They stream the message every week on their website. Desert Vineyard helps so many people in so many ways... It's a place to learn about God and His messages, and partake in the manifestation of His word by helping people and giving back. read more

Hmm interesting that yelp has removed all of the recent reviews that has given the church 1 star. Why are 12 of those reviews not recommended? The church has changed. It should be our right to inform our city of the changes since it's effecting our local families. The review below hit home. This church was our home for the last 10 years, I even had my wedding at the Vineyard. Sad to say that I no longer want anything to do with this church because of the new pastor. This church has lost all my respect. The Pastor is rude, thoughtless and so ungrateful. This is suppose to be a man of god yet all his decisions lately have been so heartless. I am beyond disgusted by the behavior of these individuals. How can you close a school that has changed so many lives. You are putting people out of work, and having kids change schools mid year, all while trying to throw Desert Christian down our throats. If we liked desert Christian we would of sent our kids there instead. You are breaking these kids hearts, and have zero remorse for your actions. The worst part is that you stood up on the stage and told us parents that you aren't going to be as nice as Larry was. In addition leaving during mid prayer was beyond rude. I will pray for you. What an amazing place to worship. From the get-go, I was welcomed at The Desert Vineyard with smiles, friendly hellos, and warm introductions that made me feel accepted into the family almost immediately! The music is encouraging and heartfelt. The pastors are compassionate teachers (the sermons have a way of digging deeply into your current life situations, filling the voids with love, and gently redirecting your inner focus back to God.) The Desert Vineyard has truly been a blessing to my husband and I since moving to the AV. When times get tough, we've learned to trust and press into God, instead of our own understanding. Sometimes the best thing you can do in a season of change or trial is to be outward facing, and the DV has so many options to help you get started making positive waves in the community (Homeless outreach, Prayer teams, Small groups, Mom groups, Mens groups, Addiction groups, Bible studies, Music ministry, check out their website for the whole ministry list.) In becoming more outward facing, we have come to feel God's presence in our lives. And it. is. so. wonderful. Who knew such a transformative church could be in the desert?! Also, I love that there are cafes everywhere you turn! Who doesn't love drinking coffee with friends in a place filled with love? Pastor David is without a doubt, Thee Best Preacher right along side with Pastor Dudley Rutherford from Shepherd Hills. The Pastor Makes the Church what it is. The 5 Stars is for the Preacher, not their music. Al though it is good, It is not as good as it was a year ago. With soooo many Praise songs , theirs just seems a little mundane, slow, not up lifting. Would LOVE some good old Southern Gospel songs, sometime.... My son has attended this school since kindergarten and is now in the 5th grade. We've had a wonderful experience with this school. The school staff is so loving and caring. And now the executive pastor Larry Ali and his leadership team are closing the school portion of the church for unknown reasons. This horrible move will displace the staff and students. The Vineyard has been our Home Church for over 22 years. We have been attending when Pastor Brent Rue was alive and the location was in the Sage Building at AV Fairgrounds. Pastor Dave Parker used to visit as a guest when Pastor Brent asked him to lead the church because he knew he was going home to be with the Lord soon. Six days a week, they only had to walk outside their tents in order to gather manna; on the seventh day, they ate from the abundance of the sixth. I love this church and that is something I have only been able to say about one other church. I am new to California and looked for specific things in a church: diversity; one that feels compassionate about doing outreach/street ministry, good praise & worship music, sound doctrine, and a "come as you are" attitude. This church exceeded my hopes and needs. Not only does it fulfill everything I was looking for, they also have a beautiful campus and they cater to coffee lovers! They have an actual Starbucks Cafe in what is called 'The Cafe Sanctuary' which is a smaller sanctuary for those who prefer a smaller setting where they can view the sermon on a big screen. The Starbucks is adjacent to this sanctuary. There is a nice water feature when walking to the sanctuaries. The main sanctuary has a great atmosphere. There are rows of chairs but there are also several round tables scattered around the sanctuary. A long line of tables is set up on the side filled with a wide variety of pastries for sale and there is also a cafe set up in the back for regular coffee purchases. This church has a lot of ministries and compassionate hearts. There are many support groups for all ages. The children's ministry is great. All of my kids love their classes and the teenagers love the youth group. This church is truly awesome. read more

My family and I have attended this church for 10 years. When we had our daughter, we chose Vineyard's preschool for her to attend so she could learn more about the Lord during the regular school day. She is now in 4th grade. Well, the church notified us parents tonight they are closing the school at the end of the school year because it doesn't fit into their vision they have for the church and they no longer want to share the space with the school. Yes, the school has struggled financially for the past year, however, instead of trying to help the school, they use it and their own selfish reasons to close the school. They feel the Lord is telling them to do this! Hmmm....I am not sure what Lord they are speaking of because I know MY Lord would say do something to help them; not tear this family apart! My family and I will never associate with this church ever again. I pray the church members are aware of what they are doing to the school AND church! I also pray our children will find a new home and that their new teachers will love them as much as our Vineyard's staff has! read more

Desert Vineyard has been my home for around ten years now. There is just no place like it! It's a place where everyone is made to feel welcomed, and is a truly "come as you are" church. I have never felt judged by anyone at anytime, however the gospel is taught as it is; not watered down or altered. I am a faithful tither, but as a giver it is also important to me to know where the money goes and that it is managed well. Desert Vineyard gives an annual report that shows exactly that. I went today to the 11am service, and the kids class was full so I brought my kids with me into church. I had been to this mega church before and I loved the atmosphere. Well I was displeased today that during the preaching "Pastor David" cussed while preaching and I was completely in shock and furious! I had my kids with me and thinking just because times have changed doesn't mean the bible changes. He also mad a joke meaning tweeting not tweakers, and went on about prior drug users. read more
