I bought a bunch of tans years ago that 'never expire'. I went in a couple months ago and asked how many I had left. I was told none as the tans I had previously I 'had not purchased'. I corrected the employee. She then said I had purchased them at a different location that is no longer a desert sun. Also incorrect as I live just down the street from this location. I was given the customer service number finally. When I contacted them, I was told they had a computer upgrade so those tans that don't expire are no longer valid. They could contact the owner of the location but there's nothing customer service can do for me. It's been months and I'm still waiting to hear back. In the meantime, I purchased more tans and was told today I only had some of the ones I had purchased on my account. read more

I've been a customer since 2012 (I was 28 at the time) and signed up with a monthly sunless package. Been paying a certain rate since then - cheap! I moved to Arizona last year and put my account on hold, just in case I'd move back and will keep the same rate.. Well today I called in to update the card on the account so my hold does not get cancelled. Their manager told me my sunless account is actually an 18 yrs old and younger account! - OKAY WHY??? I was 28 when I bought it. Soooo since it was listed that way, I could keep my account on hold but the second I reactivated it that I would have to go to the current pricing. WTF!!! I have been going to this Desert Sun for 15 years. I can only get spray tans since I'm allergic to the sun/ tanning beds. I have always loved how friendly the staff has been at this location but especially want to give a shout out to Taylour, the manager. She is ALWAYS so friendly! :) read more

Best tanning salon I've been to. The girls are super knowledgeable and Taylor (pretty dark haired girl) was helpful and hooked me up with a great package! The beds are clean and modern and I always leave feeling refreshed. Love this place all around 5 stars. read more

Almost every time I'm in here the service gets worse. The management team should take a look at how their staff speak to customers. It's unacceptable more often than not. Once I use up my tans, I won't be back. read more

I was visiting town recently from LA and after two weeks of clouds and rain I desperately needed some sun. I stopped by Desert Sun to get some Vitamin D and Taylor helped me out she was professional with all my questions as it's been awhile since I've tanned and she suggested a great lotion to help protect my skin. The beds seemed super modern and clean and afterwards I felt like I had just left the spa!! Went in to buy a one month tanning package. Prominently displayed on the counter were the package costs. When the sales gal rang me up, it came out to $20 more. I pointed at the price on the counter and she said the promotion had ended. I said, but it's right here on the counter. She said, it was only good for the month of March. I said, today is March 20. She said, I meant it was only good the first two weeks of March. I said, if you have it on display you should honor the price. She said I can't, it's not in my computer. I wouldn't even give them one start, but zero isn't an option on yelp. They'll scam you. Do NOT do the account hold option if you need to stop tanning for any length of time. When I joined several years ago I was told the $5 a month they take out while my bank account is on hold, would be credited right back when I start up again in a few months (or however long), and could apply it to my regular monthly payments. But today when I went to reactivate, I was told the nearly $80 I'd paid while my account was on hold, could only be used for in-store purchases or account upgrades!! In other words, to buy MORE from them, and not as a service to the customer, and as a way to keep our account. It's solely a way to force you to upgrade your account or lose money. So...basically I threw my money away. Would have been cheaper to just stop the account, and start up again later. I checked my bank account, and because I only tan 2-3 months a year, I never noticed that indeed, they'd been charging me full amount whenever I reactivated, contrary to what I was not only told when I originally signed up, but that I had questioned numerous times before signing up to be sure that I understood correctly. My fault for not watching my bank account better, yes. But if they'd just done what they said they would do, I shouldn't have had to watch my account. Kicking myself for allowing myself to be scammed, but there you have it. Another unhappy, and former customer. Don't make the same mistake I did. read more

Seattle sun tan took over desert sun and lost my pre paid spray tans. Kylee even expressed she remembered me buying them and it was not used but there gone now. The only thing she said she could do is e mail customer service about. Kylee was extremely rude and rolling her eyes the whole time I was talking to her. I've gone to the bonney lake location for awhile, and when I first signed up the girls in there were extremely helpful and nice, could of been more clean though.. But recently they got new management and fired some really great workers but replaced them with girls who are always talking on their phones, and have snotty attitudes. Not to mention they don't change their bulbs enough. The manager there now isn't very helpful either when I went in to cancel she was very pushy for me to put it on hold but I said no and when she had me cancel I asked her what I was signing because it was over the computer and she rolled her eyes and replied with "um a cancelation" them proceeded to put me on hold without me knowing. Not a good atmosphere and isn't clean. read more

'She loses money when you come here' is what I was told today by the girl who was working. I mean I totally understand the company is a franchise but to have me feel guilty and unwelcome to walk into your location really got to me. When scanning my finger to tan the girl asked me if this location is where I had purchased my membership. I told her no and that I work in Federal Way so I go there mostly but I live in Bonney Lake so I stop in sometimes on the weekend. She then told me that Desert Sun is a franchise so if I purchased my membership at a different location but come here she is losing money. (I'm assuming 'she' is the owner). I totally get what she is saying but to initiate that conversation to a customer is terribly rude. How do you know I'm not purchasing products or upgrades at your location? How do you not know if I'm 'checking in' online that I am at your location? To presume my 15 minutes of tanning is costing the owner money is ridiculous. I'm providing foot traffic (which I was the only customer there) and the opportunity for her to make a sale. I laid in the tanning bed feeling guilty for being there and unwanted. I wanted to tell the girl how she made me feel but when I came out from tanning she was having a personal phone call and turned away from me so she didn't have to say goodbye. I felt so uncomfortable and therefore, I will do what the girl wants and completely avoid this location. read more

Received no documents telling me to cancel at a certain time and they are charging me a whole month all inclusive for the month I wont be here.. smh these women are idiots, they pretend like you know their jargon about their packages they messed up my package at the beginning of the month, I should've saw the warning signs and their customer service lines are full of strait bitches. I've never spoke to someone so rude and acted like I was an idiot even though I was a loyal customer. Desert sun truly is a shit company and I will never be returning, or my friends. This location is always clean and has the best beds! Never broken or bulbs out. The staff is super friendly and honest. In particular, TayLor Marie was so amazing! She was honest about what i was getting with my recently purchased package and took time explaining the different packages and beds that are available at that location and even at locations closer to where I live. She helped me pick a lotion and informed me of the different promotions going on so that I got the best deal available to me. I would spend money with her anytime! Usually have an okay experience here, things are usually kept pretty clean. Customer service can be so so, but it depends on the day. However, today I came out of my session and saw no staff members in sight. I then walk out the front door to find both of them smoking and talking. They left the salon totally unattended inside... By standing right by the main entrance of their work place in this manner was extremely trashy and unprofessional to anyone coming in and out of the salon. I have been tanning with this salon for about a year. The manager and main girl are horrible with customer service. They are unprofessional when helping every customer. My "credits" somehow disappeared in the system, the bed i would request was always unavailable..
