If I could give these apartments 0 stars I would. DO NOT RENT HERE!!!! This has been a long-awaited review unfortunately. Me and my BF moved in, and it felt like we were living in a hell hole. This was a year ago we moved in but moved out a couple months before out lease was up in September. "John" the front desk guy-horrible service and doesn't understand how to do his job at all. He also seems like he thinks he's above everyone and racist. We had an issue with our air conditioning where it stopped working. Mind you it was 105-115 outside and we had no air conditioning. and the heater kept turning on. We had gone to go clean the air conditioning filter and there was Black, White, Green and blue mold in the air vents and there was so much hair stuck in there as well. The screws came out of the ceiling and were rusty, the whole thing almost took out my bf. We took pictures and showed john, and he didn't care at all-he told us to duct tape it back up and that they couldn't do anything about it. We showed him the mold, and he just looked away. I have an autoimmune disease (MS), So that is very deadly to me, and I ended up getting very sick from it. We told John again and nothing. The Maintenace tried to come up to our apartment without us knowing and tried to enter without our permission, It seemed like they might have, and our stuff was moved around like they were looking for something. I went back down telling john that we can't stay here cause of the mold and i gave him (handed him directly)-Photos of the mold and broken screws and how the huge vent was hanging down from the ceiling and gave him our notice and gave him a summary on my disability and why I can't stay here or I will end up in the hospital again. He took the papers and set them to the side and didn't care to look. We broke the lease and moved out and he continued to add more money onto our stuff and then threaten us that we would have to pay 2000+ more dollars to get out and shit. "John" doesn't care about the people he only cares about the "Property image" and his "Precious BMW" He's a coward and he is horrible. Last but not least, the homeless people...Like talk about being a gated community but the gate is always unlocked, and I had older men follow me to my apartment and watch me go in and then walk up the stairs and knock on my door...Not safe at all. There was homeless doing drugs in the trash cans and passed out behind them. Very Very unsafe place. read more

I was living there for 7 years and the front office "john" was always doing a great job of making the community hate his position and also he was like a person who racist and above everyone he could not answer basic questions and made it seem any complaints from Tenant to him was a bore several times he was asked what can be done about noise and he said nothing to do but lives with it also told another tenant not to call the police because it's a waste of time and nit to report anything else on the theft of personal property wSte waste of time and lastly he was always targeting different people who had disability benefits and would be force of judgment if you were not able to work with the apartment payments so if you decide to move in be sure that you can get a non compliant notice and a kick out notice if you are late with rent and if your car is stolen ...so glad management and owner love it.. read more

I have been living in these apartments for almost six months and I have been loving it. The neighboring residents are relatively quiet and peaceful, the apartment unit I rent is spacious, the laundry room has received updating. The Property Manager John, and the maintenance crew, Rob & Tyler are very attentive to the property. So far, very happy with the place. read more

I moved here at the beginning of January from Southern California. I drove around looking for affordable and well kempt complexes in the North Phoenix area, so as to be close to my job. When I called about the availability and rates, I was greeted with an affable and eagerly professional manner by John. He answered every question and invited me to fill out an application. The ease of the lease process and the pleasant aesthetic of the property itself made my decision very simple. They alsohave covid guidelines set very clearly for the safety of staff, residents and visitors. I highly recommend this property for consideration. And I plan on staying for awhile. read more

My fiance saw this apartment and decided to rent it as we needed a place to stay pretty quick that was cheap and pretty credit friendly (At the time we were rebuilding credit). I almost ended my relationship with him upon entering the apartment. I literally thought I walked back into the mid-80s. Actually, that's complimenting the apartment, more like the mid-70s now that I think about it. For the price you pay for these apartments, not only was there NO MICROWAVE but no Washer and Dryer. You have to transport all your laundry to the pool area to get it washed. Can you imagine relaxing on a Sunday night after a nice weekend then realizing that you have laundry to do and you have to gather everything and haul it to the laundry room???? At the time we were living there (Back from 2016 to 2017), Centurylink was the only cable company that you could get. Everyone knows how terrible Centurylink is. We couldn't even get the fastest speed because the apartment complex refuses to upgrade the lines. Another huge complaint I had was the area. We had our car broken into before while we were on vacation. We had someone passed out on drugs at our door. Homeless people in our trash and walking around the complex. We had the Swat team block half the apartments as our neighbor tried killing another neighbor. No security what so ever which is in important in a neighborhood like where we lived. I was so ashamed of these apartments and this area that I never invited anyone to come over. I would suggest to save up a little bit longer and chose another apartment cause the price you pay for these apartments you can rent a place that has a microwave and a washer and dryer and safer. read more

Here for over 3 years, raised rent with the same cheap carpet, cigarette tar that bleeds through the walls, 1970's appliances (broken refrigerator), and no good management. Always an excuse to charge you for some bogus made up, everyone does it, bs charge. No washer and dryer in unit but rent amount is the same as the complex that does, with newer everything! They make sure to use scare tactics to keep you in the dingy a$$ prison! Trust me I know your game. Keep everyone's deposit and screw everybody, make sure they can't leave. Oh and I love the term Professional, they love to use it! Our professional cleaners, ha ha ha what a joke! They might as well leave us paint and cleaning supplies, at least we will take pride. People seriously don't give this place a single look, it's a rat trap. read more

UPDATE AFTER LIVING THERE FOR A YEAR: So happy to be out of this apartment complex. Everything about the management of this place is ridiculous. The problems started when they told us we can't keep our shoes or dog gate outside. As we are people who work in grease and pee/poop for a living; we try to keep our carpets as clean and nice as possible. And we use the gate daily so our dogs can roam the porch freely. Stupid rules, in my opinion. Next the appointments/inspections were always being changed last minute. Upon renewing our lease, they told us we could not stay with our ESA animals according to their lawyers. They clearly didn't even read the paperwork themselves to what their lawyers were saying. Seeing as how they told us we need an MD doctor to write us up a letter which... they don't even do. People with ESA animals beware, these people have no idea what they are doing. We spent time and money still trying to comply but gave up realizing we really don't want to stay at this complex anyway. Why would we? On top of bed bugs, itty bitty run down kitchen, feral cats fighting all night, the really crappy parking layout, thin windows and walls, being sprayed with sprinklers anytime you want to step outside, and the laundry room that barely works half the time. There are so many more cons than pros to staying at this complex. Pretty sure they also screwed us on our security deposit. I'm not surprised. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because of location, attitude of staff was decent, and Rob their handy man. (He is heaven sent.) Best of luck. ------------------ We applied and leased with Desert Springs Apartments without even looking at the property. The location was perfect. And as risky as this move might have been, the pricing of these pet friendly gated apartments can't be beat. We simply were sold just looking at the paperwork. As new residents we honestly couldn't be more pleased. John is super professional and helpful with anything you need; along with all the staff we have encountered. I was a little wary downsizing from a condo to an apartment. But surprisingly the one bedroom apartments are spacious and fit two of us along with two spoiled pups. We love the pathways along the shady trees, friendly community, grills, and the MULTIPLE pet stations that are freshly stocked with bags. (Something we truly appreciate). It's an extremely quiet complex. And it is refreshing to come home and enjoy our cute little porch. We are excited to continue living here and enjoying our new home. read more

I'm single and have lived at Desert Springs for 2 years and 3 months. I only have good things to say about my experiences here. The rent is reasonable for the excellent location; the park like grounds, with mature trees, are always well maintained and I have never had any reason to complain about noise. I'm also really pleased with the management, especially Holly who goes out of her way to host holiday events in the newly redecorated party room. The events provide an excellent opportunity to connect with other residents and just have fun in general. My dog Buffy loves it here too. She is known for getting in peoples way just so they'll stop to pet her. The 5 dog stations located around the center courtyard are really convenient and help remind people to pick up after their dogs. Overall it's a good place to live and I don't foresee myself moving any time soon. read more

This place is horrible! Had to call maintenance every other week. Staff constantly questioned repairs when none of it was our fault. Had to be sprayed for bed bugs multiple times due to manager not screening apartment before our move in and from Neighbors. And they nickel in dime everything on your move out! I expected $500 back from my deposit and get a letter in the mail that I owe them $120. Said that all the carpet had to be removed due to urine...I didn't have any pets and kept the apartment very clean. Could have had it cleaned but they chose to go with the expensive extreme option. I would not recommend this place to anybody and would never go back, even if my life depended on it. read more

Cute little apartment complex family-oriented. They give people a second chance with their credit and give them a beautiful very well maintained place to call home. The office staff is fantastic...and john the property manager is such a hard working wonderful man. He Always greets everyone with a huge contagious smile and little wave. He is very compassionate and takes time out to always hear and care for all the residents concerns and needs. The proporty its self is very well kept up and so are the units. The maintnace Supervisor is very caring, detail oriented and always takes time out of his busy schedule to say hello and sew how you are doing. I dont think i have ever seen him miss a day of work in the 3 years my mother sister and myself have lived there.. When something needs to be fixed no matter the day or time he always makes sure its done fast and right the first time.. This apartment complex gets 1 star, only because of how friendly the neighbors were. The ceilings are low, the appliances are outdated, the carpet is old and very cheap because it peels at the edges. The kitchen barely had counter space and they give you this thick packet on how to take care of a wall paper counter top. The bathroom is really small and gets moldy. The ventilation...there is no ventilation! Our room was always hot. The front rooms aren't big enough for a nice furniture set. Once we moved out, they took painting out of our deposit for a total of $240!!! Out of a deposit of over $700!!!! All of these apartments needs to be renovated with new tile and nicer carpet throughout! Bathrooms need to be gutted out and redone. It's 2018 and these apts look like they belong in That 70s Show! Rent is not cheap! We even paid some months early and but never late!!! The manager of the complex doesn't care, beware of the vendors that she works with! I don't recommend anyone to move here, there's way better places! read more

I was living in this apartment complex for 3 years! Landscaping is beautiful!! However apartments have old appliances probably 70's appliances! I started with a 1 bedroom and moved into a 2 bedroom after a year! I paid an additional deposit for the pet deposit because I moved into the 2 bedroom! When I moved into the 2 bedroom it was awful smelled like cigarette smoke, walls had tape painted over it, everything was dirty, mold growing under the sink, carpets were trashed and old stains all over them. I was unhappy! But they weren't willing to do anything! I did get in writing I wouldn't be responsible for the carpet stains. I had a $1000 security deposit on this apartment! I finished out two years here and I received a total of $274 back out of $1000!!!! This is stealing!! The apartment was in cleaner better condition when I left and yet they said I placed dents in the refrigerator which cost $290??? How could I dent a refrigerator?? Especially one that is older than me?! Not to mention charging for wear and tear on countertops?! Holly kept asking me well is it on your check list? Hmm.. well let me see I did mark how awful the apartment was upon move in!!! But I may have been pre occupied cleaning and getting the other things taken care of in the apartment so no I did not mark dents in an old refrigerator! This is crazy! Honestly don't rent from this apartment complex they will get you for everything you have! I'm now reaching out for legal help on this matter! First impression isn't great. Asked to do the walk through a day before so i could move in early on move in day because they open late and I'd like to move in when it is not crazy hot out. Was disappointing to hear they wouldnt, as they had already done their half of the walk through. Looks like I can't move in during the cooler hours. Overall, excited to move in though. read more

This is an older apartment complex that is well-kept, quiet, and safe. Many residents have been here for years. The management is helpful and pleasant; the residents are nice, the common areas are lovely, the laundry is clean and always functional. There are routine extermination visits to keep the insects out. It was a wonderful place to live. read more

I have lived here for over 16 years and consider this my Home. I have two dogs that have been here with me since they were puppies and they know this is Home too. The management is responsive to all my concerns and are quick to do what has to be done. The rent is reasonable and the neighbors are friendly. I like living in this small complex because you get to know who belongs and who doesn't. I feel safe here. read more
