The next day, Dr. Sakai patiently spending her time to listen to all my symptoms and everything I explained. Now I know why she could not take me yesterday. She gives each patient all their time during consultation. I felt the respect of my time she spent with me. She diagnosed and then performed acupuncture. As she inserted each needle, I immediately could feel the difference. After 25 minutes, my eyes still closed, I was so grateful for the treatment by an amazing Dr. She definitely has healing hands. I was left with slightly more pain on the right side of my neck. Dr. Lok has been treating me twice a week for about a month, and I'm not only able to use a pillow for the first time in 30+ years, but he's actually healing my neck which I never thought possible. I submitted my insurance information a week in advance, and was told someone would be in touch. No one followed up. I showed up to my scheduled appointment and ended up waiting 45 minutes with no communication about what was going on. When I finally said I couldn't wait any longer, the front desk staff told me (very rudely) that they were still verifying my insurance. This was the first I'd heard of it. I had already been told the doctor would see me and that if there were any issues, I'd be informed later about potential charges. When I calmly said she could've been a little kinder about it, she snapped, "I'm done with you," and shoved a refund at me. Completely unprofessional behavior from someone in a healthcare setting. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Patients deserve to be treated with respect, basic communication, and transparency. Beware.

Although, he recommends one treatment every week or 2, whereas in many Asian countries, you are required to go multiple times a week to get an effective treatment. Typical session with Dr. Link start with acupuncture needles placed where he thinks is best for fixing you up. After about 30 mins with the needles in and the heat lamp on, he moves on to either moxibustion cups over some of the needles, or hooking up some needles to an electrotherapy pack for the next 30 mins. Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) which is aimed at treating the underlying illnesses or injuries, as opposed to Western medicine which targets symptoms. So it definitely take much longer to see results, but when combined with modern Western medicine, it should give you the best chance of healing any ailments. Dr. Link is very nice and professional, he genuinely wants to help his patients get better.
