I observed a City Cab vehicle (car #321) parked in a designated handicap parking space while waiting for a passenger who was not disabled. The vehicle remained in the space even though the customer did not require accessible parking. Handicap spaces are limited and exist for people who genuinely need them. Using them for convenience, especially in a commercial vehicle, prevents individuals with mobility challenges from accessing the space. Taxi companies should ensure their drivers respect accessibility parking laws and community standards. I hope management addresses this with their drivers so these spaces remain available for those who rely on them. You have the time the incident happened, the area in which it happened... management can narrow down exactly who this customer was and call them because that customer will tell you that he is not handicapped and the store owner will also clearly tell you the customer was NOT HANDICAPPED your customer apologized for your driver behavior. read more

Recent experiences with DCC - all bad: 1) April 2 I scheduled a cab to the airport for 5:30am. By 5:45 no show so I called the dispatcher who called the driver. The driver said he never was told. So I canceled, drove to the airport and parked for the week for $140. 2) April 23 I scheduled a cab to the airport for 5:30am. Chastity Soriano arrived 10 minutes late and when we got to the airport her credit card machine "was broken" so she had to call in the charge. That held me hostage for another 10 minutes. (This was an exact repeat of my previous experience with Chastity.) 3) June 13 I scheduled a cab to the airport for 6:15am. By 6:25 no show so I called the dispatcher who said the driver was 5 minutes away. So I canceled, drove to the airport and parked for 4 days for $80. Heck of a way to run a business. Except for the Sunline 1/2-fare program I'd switch to Uber. read more

My cab driver was either intoxicated or other. What I expected to be a brief drive to Palm Springs airport turned into an extremely dangerous experience. At one point I realized she was stopping 20 ft short of the traffic light because she couldn't tell the color of the light (stop or go).... The driver I had for this cab service was the rudest, most unprofessional person I've ever experienced. He picked us up at the Hyatt Palm Springs, for the short trip to PSP Airport. First, he pops the trunk, and doesn't get out of the car to help with the luggage. That's strike one, but not unheard of. But that first piece will become more important as this story goes on. Then I get in the car, and the first thing he asks is "Do you own a car?". I was a bit perplexed with the question, and didn't know where he was going with it. So I said, yes I do, why? He then goes on to berate me for closing the trunk of his 1993 Mercury Marquis "too hard". I'm sitting there completely in shock. Who questions how hard you close a trunk? Then he proceeds to belabor the point all the way to the airport. This guy has a screw lose. I can't believe a cab company would allow someone this unhinged to drive for them. He looked like he crawled out from under a rock! Maybe if he got off his lazy a** and helped with the luggage when we got in, like he's supposed to do according to his job responsibilities.....then he could've closed the trunk himself if he's so picky about how it gets closed! For someone in the service business, who works off tips, it's probably not a good idea to talk to people that way, especially for something so stupid. Needless to say, his tip was zero. One of the things I value the most is great customer service. I had just got into PS after traveling from the East Coast for 10 hours. It was late and my body was still in EST. I received a prompt pick up from my driver Allison and had a relaxing conversation which calm me down after a stressful day. To make a great experience better, when I called back 2 weeks later because I lost my receipt my driver returned my call,sent me another receipt and confirmed it was correct. This cab company is unreliable as far as I am concerned. I call asking for a 5:15 AM pickup to get us to the airport and the person asked I take a 5:00 am pickup. When I said I wanted the one I asked for, he then tried to get me to take a 5:30 slot. When I still refused he said OK for 5:15 pickup. He did not bother to ask for a cell # as I was using my landline or ask if there was a gate code to my development. At 5:30 am my husband and I are still waiting for pickup! I call the company again and was told they tried calling me because they could not get in the gate. We had no such calls on my phone!! I had to take my car to the airport and park there. If I could this cab company a zero, I would. The person driving did not get out to help with the luggage, and I had my 83 year old father, and a 74 year old with me who couldn't lift the luggage. I had three heavy bags and fortunately I was able to lift them in and back out at the airport. The driver never got out of the car to help. She barely acknowledged us at all. Either the driver was impaired or had no idea how to drive because she was all over the road, and the car smelled terrible, like old stale cigarettes. We always try to go with cab companies, instead of Uber or Lyft. After this experience we will definitely never use Desert City Cab, and we will take our business elsewhere. read more

Rude doesn't even describe the heavily accented driver. And no he was not Hispanic--they are friendly !! What really was the issue we were hit head on by a drunk driver and of course our car was not able to be driven. Cops called these idiots. They picked us up and we didn't have cash. Driver didn't want a credit card. We then used our debit card, but for some reason it wouldn't work. Driver gets all up in our face and calls the cops. This is the worst cab experience we've ever had. Cab #311 is the rudest woman ever! She snapped at me when I tried to give her basic directions to our home, we live here full time. Passed the street where we asked her to turn. She stopped well back of a car that was exiting from a garage and waited for them to completely back and and drive away. She drove past our house, stopped and did not get out to open the trunk or help with luggage. She used foul language. When we called to complain they told us that she was formerly a driver for Uber. Do not book with this company! I had an early flight and I didn't know if Uber would be a viable option in Palm Springs at that hour, so I booked a cab online the night before for 430AM. I received an email booking confirmation. Called at 435 asking where my cab was and was told it was booked for 450. I told dispatch I had reserved for 430 and he said "did you get a call confirming?" I said I got an email, which clearly said "confirmation," and for 430. He said he could send the car "now," and 445 still no cab... Called again said would be arriving in 2 mins... 455 still no cab! Called an uber which was there in literally 3 mins. Which I should have done in the first place. I called the dispatch for the 3rd time to cancel (in the off chance a cab was actually coming) but no one picked up. Apparently a cab did show at 5 (half an hour late does matter when you have an early flight...) and instead of calling my mobile, rang the doorbell to wake up my sleeping friends. Avoid. read more

If I could give this car service zero stars, I would. I called around 7:00 am for a cab to pick me up at my hotel at 7:20 am. The dispatcher took my order and said the cab will be there. When I came to the lobby at 7:20, the cab wasn't there. I called the company to check on it and they put me on hold for 10 min. I have tried calling again 5 or 6 times but no one would pick up. I waited for a few more minutes and then called for a yellow cab. When yellow can finally picked me up at 7:55 am, the green Desert Cab was still nowhere in sight. That's 35 minutes late for the scheduled pick up time. As a result, I was 20 min late to my meeting. I understand that the demand for services might be very high at certain times, but (1) the dispatcher should have told me the wait would be much longer; (2) when I called to check on the cab, the dispatcher should have just told me the truth instead of avoiding me. There are plenty of alternatives I could have considered, including calling the yellow cab, which, by the way, arrived within 10 min. This behavior is incredibly unprofessional. I will NEVER use Desert Cab again. I strongly recommend that you use yellow cab. They are reliable and quick. read more

On Mother's Day, car trouble left us stranded between Blythe and Indio. While we had a tow truck, they were unable to transport all of our party along with our car. Used DCC for a ride home to San Jacinto when I arrived at PS Airport a couple weeks ago. Driver was really nice and polite and the cab was very clean. Unfortunately, the driver ran my credit card before I could tell him to add my tip, so had to pay it in cash. Otherwise, a great experience. However, I lost the receipt and needed it to get reimbursed on my travel voucher. I sent an email to the contact on their website and was told they could email a copy with a little info about the trip and how I paid. Got it the next day and it saved me $160 out of pocket. read more

I had a terrifying experience with this company. The online reservation was smooth and someone called me the night before to confirm, which was nice. However, when my driver arrived (6 am, on time) she told me she was tired and struggled to put my bag in the van. Then she KEPT FALLING ASLEEP BEHIND THE WHEEL. Not kidding. I tried to keep her awake by talking with her, but with limited success. At one light, I had to wake her because she fell asleep at the red light. She kept veering between lanes, going too quickly through curves, and generally driving erratically. For 2 years my mom has been in a wheelchair & we use the Sundial Bus & handicap taxi's. We were so disappointed with American Cab more than once as we were stood up. My mom cannot transfer to a car so she needs a vehicle with handicap assess. This week we called Desert City Cab and we're so lucky to have had Luis Mancilla as our driver. He went over and above & picked us up exactly on time. He was kind and courteous and did exactly what he said he would. He had us call him 15 minutes before we were ready to get picked up to go home. Sure enough he showed up exactly on time. We can't praise him or Desert City Cab enough. Unless you have ever dealt with the handicap situation like we have you don't know how important it is to have someone like Luis show up on time. Worst cab service ever. The driver was rude, and on top of that he didn't take credit cards, 3 minutes into our cab ride!!! Why didn't he tell us before we got in or immediately when we got in? He told me his credit card machine didn't work, and then he told me his meter wasn't working and said my fee was supposed to be $17.40 but decided to give me a deal for a flat $15 since his meter wasn't working. Get this, when we asked for a receipt, he said his machine wasn't working and argued with us for Atleast 10 mins. He then called his dispatch to confirm the fee since his meter wasn't working properly and the dispatch said our fee was $10.40!!! Our cab driver told him he was wrong and that it should be $17.40 and the dispatch said "oh yeah, you're right". What the hell was that! The driver totally influenced his answer! You could totally tell! He then told his dispatcher, in front of us, that we were trying to dispute the fee! All we wanted was to get a freakin receipt! He was rude. The dispatcher wasn't helpful. And when we tried to get a receipt , no one gave us one. We called. No one answered. Worst cab company ever! The dispatch finally called us back. He told us the fare should have been $13.50!
