I have a problem with doctors just recommending medication right off the bat. Hence the reason I haven't been to the doctors in many years. Dr. Nikki did recommend medication but she did take the time to recommend holistic ways in which to solve my issue. I get migraines, really really bad migraines and unfortunately medication is often prescribed rather then alternate forms of medication. I've had migraines for two years and haven't seen a doctor until Dr. Nikki. I have a low dosage of migraine medication that I can take before an attack is going to occur. Service wise the doctors office was patient with me as I filled out the new forms for their office and I will be going back because I did feel comfortable with the mostly female staff. Dr. Keane was the only qualified person at this practice and he has been gone for quite some time. Amy Strocsher is not an MD. My many encounters and misdiagnoses from her scared me away from seeing a nurse practitioner for my medical care. I realize that's probably unfair. I'm sure their are some who are qualified to be your main source of care, but for me, it was not her. Some scary things happened to me at this office, including a misdiagnosed case of PCOS, confirmed by a second opinion with an MD. He looked at my labs and said they were misinterpreted by her. I'm glad I had the sense to not believe what she had insisted was true. I would be taking a bunch of unnecessary hormones. If your intuition tells you she is incorrect even if she believes she is, trust yourself and seek out another opinion is my best advice. read more

I usually have a great experience with Desert Bloom. Today wasn't one of them. I was told by another physician to follow up with my PCP. I did. Here is what she had to say She Asked me"Why are you here?!" Isn't your Oncologist handling it?! I said she told me to follow up with you. I've debated whether or not I should write this, but decided it was worth other potential patients to know while seeking a place to establish care. The office staff were great. I set an appointment for two things that had been bothering me about my health and they were able to schedule me within a week. The reception/paperwork process was well-managed and efficient and the staff were very friendly. The doctor I saw was also very friendly. However, the two things I set the appointment for received literally no care. The first issue was severe recurring cramps/spasms in my torso. I was referred to physical therapy for this -- no diagnostic questions, no bloodwork, nada. The other issue is that I've been getting lightheaded when I laugh too hard. His official diagnosis (based on what I'll never know because, again, no questions were asked about the history of the issue and no tests were done) was that it's a vasovagal response. The end. No further treatment needed for that. Well fast forward to this weekend, I began laughing and fainted on my tile floor. Call me dramatic, but I find that to be a little problematic. And the real kicker for me is that in the midst of the lack of follow-through, they still had time to recommend evaluation and treatment from their in-house allergy specialist (an issue I didn't even address in my appointment). It just came off very factory-like; get 'em in and out, upsell 'em with our extra paid services, and NEXT! If you already know what's wrong and need a prescription, this is probably an adequate level of care for you. If you're looking for comprehensive and thorough care, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. read more

I enjoyed my primary care NP here, however, when she was out I cannot seem to get the care I need. When I asked for specific test to be done with a supporting history, it was disregarded by the MA and the NP filling in for my provider, citing "standard of care." When I informed them I cannot get this done in a timely manner, I would have to find a new physician, the MA did not seem to be bothered by this. I guess one more or less is just another drop in the bucket. read more

I've always avoided going to the doctors office at all cost mainly because of the horror stories I've heard of dealing with insurance. I recently had to get a primary care physician and Desert Bloom was recommended to me by my mom. Being hesitant about going to the doctors my whole life, it took some convincing to get me to go. My very first time in the office I was greeted by very helpful and friendly staff who made me feel less anxious about being in a doctors office. The whole process from start to finish that day was extremely smooth and simple. I have since been back twice more and I can honestly say that the owner, Amy, has put together a team there that makes your feel welcome and relaxed every step of the way. I recently had a difficult situation with insurance.. and Blanca at the front desk was amazing and took care of the entire thing and spent almost half an hour on the phone calling different people to get the right answer and she made sure I had all the correct information. She went out of her way to make sure I wasn't stressed and that everything was in place before I left. Tiffany, (the girl who runs the allergy clinic here - yes, they have an allergy clinic too!) recommended I see Dr. Keane to take care of my back issue I had at the time. From previous experience, he is hard to get in with, and takes about 2 weeks on average for the soonest appointment available, but she made me an appointment to see him the same-day! He was hands down the most helpful and all around awesome doctor I've ever been to. He truly listens to you and takes your thoughts and concerns into consideration when making the choice on the best way to treat you. He has the best personality and is the most down to earth doctor I've ever met. I'd gladly go back to him for anything I needed. I had the pleasure of meeting the manager of the office, Marilyn, and from our interaction, I could tell she was all about helping the patients as well as her staff. Amy and Marilyn truly have a staff that cares and every single person there makes you feel like you are a part of their family. read more

I originally saw the Dr Keane but he left & now only 2 NP's there. I e been going since I moved to AZ 2 years ago. My opinion is they push you out the door as fast as can be. If you get 15 minutes it's a miracle. Last time there the NP says what wrong with your back.ALL my records were brought there & also stating I'm disabled. That turned me off this place. I'll give it s few more times then will try & find a caring & compassionate Dr. like I had back home. read more

Front office staff are helpful, kind, efficient, and patient with the many questions I had as I was establishing care with new doctor. Dr. Keane was kind, knowledgeable, and took the time to answer my questions with great thoughtfulness. He is a great expert to have in my corner...an expert that will partner WITH me as I make decisions about my healthcare. I liked my doctor as she was very thorough and attentive to my needs. The front desk isn't helpful. I got my confirmation call for my appt the next day and I had moved out of state. I called back literally an hour or so later and canceled also asking about prescription transfer with me moving which then I got transferred to a voicemail and never got a return call back. Now I'm being charged a no show fee because apparently you get charged even a day before the appt when you call and cancel and they didn't help at all calling in about it. read more

I came across this clinic through work and found that I had seen other providers about my health issues but no one was really listening to me. Amy Strocsher, NP listened and set up a plan to get me feeling better. I felt like I was never really heard and was amazed by how what I said to Amy she picked up clues to help treat me. A few times I waited 40 minutes plus after my scheduled appointment time to see the doctor. On a few occasions my care was rushed and I was told insurance only pays for 15 minutes with the doctor. The office is quickly changing and staff and procedures are changing. I called to schedule and appointment and it has taken 3 days to finally reach someone only to be told I had a pay off a small bill before they could even schedule the appointment. Really? I'm looking for a new doctor. This place is not worth my time or patience any more. read more

I can say that I relate to ALL of the negative reviews about Desert Bloom Family Practice and do not think that they are in the least exaggerated. I don't even want to give it a star. These people are so rude it's frightening. Even if I didn't have honest medical trauma from a sordid past of being forced into procedures and surgeries that were damaging when I was little, these people could give ANYONE trauma. First, they wouldn't take a message to give to my nurse practitioner who had just joined the practice because "I was not yet a patient." I told them that I had literally just spent 2 hours at her hold clinic doing an intake, and I had a question related to a pressing issue and just needed to get ahold of her, and that I already had scheduled an appointment with Desert Bloom. They would not leave her a message until I "became a patient," and I had to go to urgent care. It was the added layer of rudeness that made this so hard to bear. I also came with a referral for a very specific thyroid (important organ!) test from my old doctor who knew me for 15 years, and she barely glanced at the paper and looked angry. I told her why I needed those and she looked defensive and angry and said, "I know what those are, they're not so special." So I let it go, got a blood test. And it turns out she did NOT read the paper and did NOT listen to a referral from an MD, neither did she listen to my own self-assessment. As are more and more people these days, I'm very in touch with my body and health, take good care of myself, and know when something serious is going on. So three weeks have gone by and I still don't have the blood tests that I need to get specific treatment for a serious condition that is threatening to ruin my work if I don't get better. I think this is a very, very serious omission of arrogance and sloppiness. It's not nearly over yet! Speaking of sloppy, their so-called "referral expert" was trying to get me a referral with my prescription plan and not my medical plan. When I tried to correct her and say "there are dozens of doctors in town on my insurance, not just that place that got only one star and has horror stories as bad as yours" (okay, I didn't get that detailed), she insisted that I had no other insurance, and that she had spent "hours" to get me that one, terrible referral. She hung up on me when I asked her to please check with the front desk. I finally called my insurance in a panic after speaking with the front desk and saying "this makes no sense, you obviously took my insurance info because I paid the correct co-pay," they insisted that they had called my insurance and it was defunct. My insurance specialist said, "girl, you're fine, you HAVE insurance with us, they are very wrong!" I knew that, but you know, when people push that hard and try to tell you you're stupid, eventually you start to doubt yourself. There's more to write but I'm tired of this place. Needless to say I'm not going back, and will try my best as I have been for years to avoid any standard medical practitioners and opt for acupuncture and other forms that don't push medicines on you at every turn. I first saw Amy about 3 yrs ago. She listened, she gave interesting information when she answered questions, and explained test results. I was encouraged, and trusted her with my health issues. The staff (then) were helpful, cheerful, kind. After about 1 and a half years,..the complete opposite was true, Amy no longer listened with compassion, and would cut me off. I remember once I was answering a question, and she snapped, "it's a yes or no question". Awkward! That's just one example, and I don't want this to be too long, but it got worse from there, as Desert Bloom grew as a business. My most recent, (and final) visit was a thoroughly bad experience for me. The "new" people at the front were, for lack of a better word, curt. The person who called me back (after the usual waiting time of 40+ minutes), looked angry, and I could feel her aggression as she took my b/p, etc. Relieved when SHE left the room, I was in for even worse when the secondary NP came in. Curt, zero compassion, ...I will say, rude. I don't ask for much in how I'm treated by the help that I hire, but at least pretend to care. I left the office realizing that the entire hour and a half had an negative effect on me, and that even the phlebotomist gave the impression that he'd rather be doing anything else at that time. He was not worse than the other staff. Either there is a note in my chart that says: "Do not encourage this patient to ever come back", or a staff meeting had been held that morning, and everyone got demoted and reprimanded. Bottom line, I was disappointed, and a little hurt, but I am grateful to Amy & staff, because I have a new-found appreciation for people that make an effort to be kind, or just ARE kind. I gave more than one star for the positive first impression. Although they would have done me a favor by being rude from the start. read more

I moved to AZ about a year ago and searched Yelp to find a good primary care physician. My experiences up until now in Tucson have been frustrating, to say the least. This is hands down the best medical practice I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I have never found a doctor who made me feel so confident about the care I am receiving. Amy is amazing. So nice and knowledgeable. She takes her time and is genuinely interested. She explained things to me so that I left with a better understanding of my health and things that I can do to maintain it. I received a referral for a cardiologist through Desert Bloom and had another mind blowingly awesome experience in dealing with him. Everyone associated with Desert Bloom has been fantastic so far! What a joke.... referred by a friend and went to see Amy for hot flashes!!!! She took blood and found a problem with cholesterol and triglycerides. no carbs for 5weeks and more tests! dropped 11lbs and cholesterol dropped only 5 points and triglyserides went UP so instead of of writing a script to help....more blood tests.... sonogram... ran up $1500.00 in bills and STILL NOTHING!!!!! and nothing for the ORIGIANAL reason i went!!!!!WASTED money!!!! and then the way she wrote the stupid report the insurance company doesnt want to cover ANY OF IT!!!!! what a joke. i am NO better off after 5 visits and tests!!!! and $1500.00 POORER!!!!!! After going to our PC for over 20 years,the staff continually went downward in their professionalism and bordered on rued.we would wait over an hour to be seen. I was forced to choose a new PC, at first i was devastated but found out it was the best thing that happened to me in my medical life. My husband researched until he found the right fit for us Then he found Desert Bloom Family practice.. Not realizing how "right" it was and is to this day. we weren't going to Amy very long before I had a stroke in Nov.of 2013. upon my release i was refused in home PT.. thanks to Amy,i finally got in home PT. I feel Amy and her staff are an asset to Tucson and the medical field. Her staff is always welcoming,calls to remind us about an appt. refills are current. Amy goes over all meds with us so we understand completely. My only regret is , we wasted 20 yrs finding her.But looking back, it was worth the wait. read more
