Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory

My family has always used Glenn Funeral Home for their end of life needs. (We have used their…read moreservices eight times.) My first experience with the Glenn Funeral Home was over 20 years ago (in their old location) when my Uncle passed. There are many memories from that time but what I remember about the Memorial Service was that there was a lot of sadness in the chapel. My parents, grandparents, aunt and uncle let the cousins go between those offering their condolences to the basement downstairs. We were allowed to play downstairs when we needed to get away from all the sadness. I am very thankful for that basement because it helped us get through a hard experience on our own terms. It took some time to be able to bury my uncle's ashes, and they stored them until we were able to do so. (Don't worry there is a reason I have shared that with you.) Five years ago today my Granddad passed. I knew this day was going to happen but it was still something that I wasn't ready for .... I was very fortunate to have all my grandparents until I was in my thirties and I wasn't prepared to let any of them go. I was able to get into town to join Grandma, father, mother and uncle in the planning of the service with the Glenn Family. It was very easy to work with them. They were very friendly, caring and supportive. They made this milestone in life as easy at it could be for those left behind. It was very nice to have a father and daughter team working with us. I remember talking to the daughter about "Six Feet Under" and how realistically it portrayed the families that were in the business. We even joked with them about how long to store Granddad's ashes ... Grandma promised it wouldn't be as long as with my Uncle's. The service was beautiful and overflowing with friends and family. I didn't feel like I was saying good-bye to my Granddad, but see you later. Glenn Funeral Home helped in creating that perception. They also provided an audio copy of the ceremony so you have it when you want to listen to it in the future. Over two years ago I was back in town for my Grandpa's service. The same attention to detail and caring was still present. They created a video from photos my uncle had provided. I remember my nephew being amazed when he saw the photo of Grandpa in the bulldozer and the plane (he was a fighter pilot in WWII). They arranged for the service to be with military honors along with a 21-gun salute. Again they made this sad time a celebration of life. They may not have the basement anymore, but they do have a room for children. There is a TV and other things for children to do, should they need an escape. The employees do not seem like employees, but close friends that are helping out as needed. I am very thankfully for the care they have shown to my family through the years.

Lets face it, no one likes going to funerals. Every service is different and so are the facilities…read more This facility stands head and shoulders above many that i have experienced. Clean / very clean, caring and professional staff who seemed to anticipate our need before we did. Knowing that the family of the deceased struggles financially i was impressed with the value they received for there money. Yes i would highly recommend this business.
