I showed up on a Saturday with a broken exhaust. Derek's was quick to get me in and on my way. They replaced the exhaust and my rusted muffler for a great price. Super grateful for the quick turn around. read more

Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. The communication here is terrible. I was originally quoted $2,700 for a rebuilt transmission and told my truck would be ready in two weeks. A month later, after constant delays--including a cracked unit and a replacement that slipped immediately--I found out they were putting used junkyard transmissions into my truck. When I confronted them, they denied ever claiming it was rebuilt, despite what they explicitly promised. To actually get a real rebuilt transmission, they demanded an extra $3,000 (making it $5,700 total). On top of that: * I was never provided a written estimate. * I had to physically stop by or call repeatedly to get any updates; they never reached out proactively. * My truck's dashcam audio caught one of their staff members throwing a fit inside my truck--screaming, cussing, slamming things around, and forcing the shifter like it was a rage room. I'm sure management will reply to this review with a polished excuse (it's the one thing they're actually good at), but the dashcam audio and real experience don't lie. Great shop, honest mechanics! I've taken my vehicle for several issues and the price is always fair, and the issues are fixed correctly. I recommend Derek's Muffler to anyone in need of a car repair or tow. read more

I have had numerous things done at Dereks. From timing chain to all sorts of brake work. I have had to return for the same issue a couple of times. Saying that does not mean a bad thing. They have always reworked the issue if needed and made sure things went well. I would recommend them for anything but transmissions. They are not a tranny shop. I have sent many people their way including my family. Decent mechanic work is hard to find and one you can trust is even harder. I have had dealerships charge 100's of dollars to do what they do for much less. They will install parts you buy elsewhere, but, they will not warranty them. Remember that! read more

We stopped at this garage bc we were having issues with our transmission slipping. We were on our way from east NC to Nashville, TN. Derek was very nice. He had cars that he was working on but he stopped to look at our car and took it for a test drive. He didn't find anything wrong with it but just the fact that he took the time to look and didn't try to up sell unneeded services meant a lot to us. You don't find honest mechanics much anymore but Derek is one of the good ones. read more

These guys were recommended by our tow truck driver and they were fast and impressive. They pulled my car into the bay immediately, diagnosed the problem, and repaired it quick. I was back on the road in under an hour and it only cost $30. Fair. Fast. And friendly. Couldn't ask for more--they exceeded all my expectations. read more

Great mechanics and affordable prices. I've never been pushed into a expensive repair and have never had to pay for them breaking a part. They are always nice too. read more

Our Ford broke down on our vacation and the tow truck driver recommended Derek's. At first we thought everything was going okay because they quickly saw it was a front differential. They said it could be fixed by the end of the day. Score! Or so we thought. We had a campsite about 2 hours away so we rented a van to get our stuff there and get back. They called and said it needed wheel bearings. So okay. Fix that. BUT, when we got to the garage, they said they broke a bolt on the shock and replaced both front shock with high performance shocks without even asking. The repair price had doubled. THEN, they said it now had a leak. Liquid was pouring out the timing chain cover. So, long story shorter, by the time they fixed that, it was 4 days instead of 1 and 4 time the cost. This Ford was NOT leaking ANY fluid before it got to the garage. And I was raised, if you break it, you buy it. So, in breaking the shock and possibly also the cover (as far as I know the cover was fine up to this point and they would not show us the old cover), I truly believe they should not have charged labor to fix this. Beware! I can't say the breakage was on purpose, but they knew we were from out of town and had very few options. Also, after we got the Ford back, we noticed some items in the back seat that weren't there when we dropped it off. We think they let someone watch a movie on the DVD player. :( So not cool. The differential runs okay now but the front end growls every time I turn the wheel, so I have to have another mechanic check to see what was messed up. I cannot recommend this garage at all. read more

First time to use this place for some transmission diagnostic work. Don't know how well they do for they had my car for 4 weeks and did nothing to it except give me reasons for not doing any work on it! Do not recomend them at all read more

Great group who really helped me when I was traveling. Many thanks. Cant say enough good!

I just had work done at this establishment, they came highly recommended. I went in with my brakes giving me a problem of going to the floor and barely stopping. The mechanic said it was my ABS system which is a possibility like about 5 other things. Not being a mechanic I assumed he knew what he was doing. So I had that repaired at a lovely cost of 480$, but guess what that wasn't the problem. So I went to 2 other mechanics explained what was happening and before I could finish each of those establishments told me it was my master cylinder. So I went back confronted the mechanic as to why he diagnosed the ABS to be the problem. He gave me no response just smiled and turned away with guilt all over his face. So I then went in to speak with the owner as to why his mechanic diagnosed the issue as ABS system. I got almost attacked by the owner and was assaulted by the mechanic, so I went out called the police. Now I am taking them to court for ripping me off, so whoever tells you they are great and friendly obviously didn't realize they probably just got ripped off. read more
