I will admit the owner did say they were working on updating the motel and it shows from older pictures to today. The logo is updated. They've painted the buildings and done what they could to improve it. But yeah it's still a cheap motel in High Springs. The rooms have decades of paint build up. Light switch locations are strange. But there are the usual hotel accommodations like a tv, small dorm fridge, soap/shampoo, etc. I will say the soap felt like a domino piece and never seemed to really suds up? Very strange if I'm honest. So yeah, guys trip cheap motel this is a good choice. Also the Pink Flamingo diner and bar across the street is a solid food choice.

Hotel day driver was great and efficient. Nice walking area behind the hotel, great weather too. Gator sculptures around the hotel to take cool pics. Nice sitting areas. Breakfast rep gal kept the breakfast area stocked and clean. Outdoor pool looked great and clean. Find cardio equipment in the gym, first floor. Quiet spacious room w a king and a couch. The tv channels were my favorite part- all HBO, especially HBO Signature. I watched great movies and even a whole footage thing of John Lennon vintage footage. The bathroom had a walk in shower which is pretty mandatory for me when booking a room. The not so good. If you like minimalist decor, you will love this place. I, however found it too extreme, almost clinical with bare walls glaringly dominating the space. The absolute deal breaker. Arriving and unloading was a ridiculous undertaking. Never have I experienced such a set up. I had no energy or patience to park our truck blocks away, (no available spots in front of hotel) check in on the 2nd floor (seriously?) and then wrangle a very large luggage cart back to our vehicle. I gave my husband the printed map found at the front desk that showed the designated parking areas. I suggested he try the "free" lot first. Thank goodness he found a spot but only because a car was just leaving. The lot was small with only 20 or so parking spaces. I'm sorry, but this type of juggling and maneuvering to get into a hotel was unacceptable. They should have paid us for all the work. Never again.

Firstly, the hotel is a solid 5-star hotel. Clean. Modern. And with a staff that seems competent…read moreand polite. Secondly, the hotel is in a solid 5-star area where one can easily access food, bars, and cultural options. Therefore, it's fair to ask, "Why the 3-star rating?" The answer comes in two parts: 1) Loud engines, loud mufflers, loud music, loud sirens, etc. The hotel cannot control these factors, yet as someone who easily contracts ear infections, wearing earplugs is rather unattractive. No stars to be gained here, just a stinky scenario to endure. 2) Parking stinks. For free 'green zone' parking, the walk from the hotel to the car was nearly a half mile. And if the weather is poor, as it was in the morning after our stay, parking stinks even more. The hotel cannot control these factors; no stars to be gained here. A 5-star hotel minus a star for loud noise and minus a star for poor parking garners a 3-star rating. When we stay in Gainesville again, this will not be one of our options.

There's nothing fancy about the room, but we found it to be clean and enough for our trip. Based on reviews, we knew we weren't getting a luxury hotel (very low price reflects that!), but we were steps from where we had meetings and that was worth it. Last time we went to Gainesville our car was towed so we were also very appreciative of the secure parking offered at no additional cost. There are in/out privileges so if you want to head to dinner, no problem moving your car. There's also a Starbucks in the Reitz where you can order ahead on the app. We will definitely try to stay here again on our next trip.
