I've stayed at the fanciest of hotels but nothing comes close to a nice b&b. There's just something about the atmosphere and closeness and homeliness of well run b&b that adds to a night away. From the street, Camellia Rose appears to be a well maintained historic looking building. It's a pretty decent size with a nice yard and water fountain out front as well as nice parking. When we arrived, Mrs Pat met us at the door and welcomed us in. She showed us around and scheduled a time for breakfast. She told us to call if we needed anything and was very sweet. We went to a ballgame and had dinner and then went to Rockeys in town before heading back. When we got back we immediately got in the big jacuzzi tub. (We stayed in anticipation). There's bathing salt provided which made it even better. The temperature and water pressure was great, everything was very clean and taken care of. There were a lot of little details that made the room even better. The bed was comfy- my honey didn't want to get up the next morning due to how soft the bed was. I ended up getting him up and we went and got coffee and sat out front for a few minutes before breakfast. Once it was served, we had fresh sweet fruit, some kind of egg dish that was my absolute favorite (the boyfriend stated I needed to "up my breakfast game" the next time I cooked haha), sausage, and a really good pumpkin bread that I could barely eat because I was so full. We refilled our coffee and sat on the upper balcony for the rest of our stay which was relaxing. It was a little chilly but there was a small blanket in our room I could cover up in as I sipped my coffee. All in all a very great place to stay and we look forward to returning! PROS: - very quiet and relaxing; not like a hotel room where people are yelling in the halls randomly - Excellent breakfast that will have you extra full and ready for the day - I recommend definitely getting a room with the big tub. I would stay in it all day with a book if I could - clean and well maintained - quick uber/drive away from everything - great patio to relax in the mornings or nights read more

My husband and I are here right now enjoying a beautiful Valentine's weekend. I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay has been. Pat and Tom keep a charming and super clean Inn. They think of all the details and the breakfast is phenomenal. We feel so welcomed here. Looking forward to our next stay and making our rounds to the different rooms. We're in the Anticipation room now and it's just perfect. The getaway during these hard times was so needed. We feel very comfortable and safe here. read more

This beautiful Inn was actually a Queen Anne house, originally known as Swearingen House. The house was originally built in 1903 for Thomas J. Swearingen. Swearingen, who owned one of the first automobile dealerships in Gainesville, lived in the original house for fifteen years. Now the house is home to Pat and Tom who run the bed and breakfast inn known as The Camilla Rose Inn. The house though modernizes for convenience still holds that feel of an area gone by in its decor and hospitality. I can't say enough about how wonderful the inn keeper Sarah was and being spoiled was beyond anything I could have imagined. From delicious breakfast cooked for me each morning, to fresh baked goods in the dining area to evening wine and snacks. All was done with love and hospitality that makes you not want to leave and return to reality. One of the highlights of my stay was being able to take my evening tea out onto the porch and just sit and watch the sunset in the evening. Besides this Inn being an oasis of tranquility the service and the beauty of the place is surreal. We had everything we could ever want and more. It was definitely a five star Inn and deserves all the great words said about it. read more

I saw the reviews and decided to drive by and look.Pat was welcoming and graciously showed me the room.I liked what I saw and agreed to stay.my wife and I stayed in the cottage.the cottage is charming,tastefully decorated,and VERY clean.the bed was outstanding.the linen and towels all smelled clean and freshly laundered.the room also has a Jacuzzi in it.the cottage is quiet and private and we slept like babies.in the evening we had complimentary wine and the brownies were fresh baked and tasted wonderful.in the am we needed to leave before normal breakfast time and Pat kindly offered to make us breakfast early and oh am I glad she did.WOW.tasty tasty tasty.you get what you pay for and we feel it was money well spent.I know where we will be staying next time we need a room in Gainesville. read more

I did not find the Camellia Rose Inn on Airbnb, which I avoid if possible after having had a couple of terrible experiences and a couple of mediocre experiences on that site. Staying at the Camellia Rose Inn is a homey place where the love and attention of the proprietors is evident wherever you look. I highly recommend this lovely inn. read more

It's hard to avoid going overboard about this place. Tom and Pat couldn't be more cordial and attentive to all the details that make staying here a memorable experience, especially when compared to the typical corporate hotel room. They've taken this fine old mansion on a leafy side street and polished everything to perfection. The breakfast is pure southern goodness and the rooms are lovely. Very lovely inn in a very lovely city. Gainesville is hospitable, friendly, and surprisingly progressive. This amazing inn and its proprietors offer travelers a first class stay, and right-at-home charm. Camellia Rose is a beautifully restored historic bed and breakfast home. Pat is the perfect host. She greeted us at the door as we pulled up with a friendly smile. As we entered it smelled like brownies and Christmas tree. It is quaintly decorated and impeccably clean. Our room was very comfortable with a balcony with rocking chairs off the back. My wife had an early medical appointment at Shands in Gainesville so we decided to stay in town the night before since we live in Jacksonville. I found the Camellia Rose Inn here on Yelp and decided to stay here based on the two previous reviews and the price. What a great decision it turned out to be, this place is so nice, relaxing, and very clean. It was ten times better than a hotel would've ever been and the service is top notch. Pat was very accommodating to our needs to get an early start the next morning and even offered to have our breakfast ready before she normally serves it. The breakfast was outstanding and Pat was such a gracious host to us that I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Our room was cozy, clean, and had a nice comfortable bed. The bathroom was kept very clean and had everything we needed minus a toothbrush. I can't say enough good things about this place and really hope we can go back and stay again. Oh yeah, if there are brownies put out to eat do yourself a favor and get one, trust me you'll be glad you did. read more

Love the inn, the food, and the location. The proprietors were friendly and pampered us with brownies every day, win, crackers, and cheese at night. The inn is well kept, the rooms clean and quaint and it is within walking distance of the main square. Close enough to the action but far enough for peace and quiet. This is as good as it gets!!! I feel like I hit the B&B jackpot -- all by luck and a recommendation of a neighbor ! After making last minute decision to attend a 40 year reunion - I discovered all the pet friendly hotels were totally booked ( Parents Weekend) . My next to last call was to the Camilla Rose. I explained my predicament to Pat -- who was technically full - and she made it happen! I could not have been happier with the location and accommodations and especially the hospitality. Great bed linens, towels, and breakfast!! This will always be my first choice when I return to Gainesville. read more
