I have never been to a Pride Fest in another city (although I want to), but Denver's is the tits. Located smack dab in the middle of Civic Center Park and the surrounding area, this is the place to be to show your love.
It is crazy hot outside (to be expected, in the middle of June). No worries, because you can show as much skin as you feel comfortable with here. If you want to show those taters, be my guest. Just keep the goods and chattle to yourself, and everything will be A-okay. But be sure to wear your brightest colors (and lots of sunscreen) and show your support for the community. Gay, straight, bi, etc. who cares? No one here. That being said, Pride is not just about sex. It's about society. It's a movement. It's our culture.
It's free, and if you wander around enough, you can get a lot of free swag. Need more condoms? This is the place to load up. Lots of fun booths to visit with people and buy some art and such from local vendors. My friends and I like to compete to see who can get the most free stuff and tote bags. SWAG on SWAG on SWAG!
Traditionally, Saturday is Family Day, but the kids don't get in your way (too much). There's even a petting zoo sometimes. The parade is on Sunday. Both days have been really fun to attend.
Darn, I cannot wait until summertime to attend this event! read more
