This has been one of the best experiences! I am a student from Hawaii and choose to study at DIMS because of their thoughtful curriculum, the flexible scheduling and the overall price. Important Note - This review on the clinic, not the school. I have never taken a class at the clinic. I've been coming to the clinic are years! There new location is a huge upgrade with parking and so much space! There are multiple waiting rooms instead of the one bench in the corner at the old location. When I visited for the first time on 11/10/19, there was a room used solely for the an art gallery; however, all the walls of all the rooms were covered in art that you could buy. A great touch! As for the treatments, the students are insanely good. All of them must go off to expensive spas, as I would be more than willing to pay three to five star resort spa prices for how I am treated and how the treatments go! I have had a lot of the facials, bacial (ugh, so good - a nice treatment and massage all wrapped into one), and the chemical peels. A friend and I love the peels so much, we have decided to make it a monthly thing. We will probably switch it up, but that is how much we love coming here! Scheduling online is easy and they tend to put out the schedule a month ahead of time so you can plan. They send emails with specials of the month so you can get an extra 20% off of already low prices--that's what I'm talking about! I'm a huge fan of their facials and dermaplaning but wasn't too impressed with the massage portion but I think it was due to the student who worked on me and lack of personality or knowledge. Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, Value For the last (4) four months I have been studying to become a Medical Aesthetician. Where, at the School of Botanical and Medical Aesthetics (DIMS/SBMA in Denver, Colo.). To be a student again, that is me! Today, as I am nearing the end of my schooling and beginning my prep for the State Board exams, I want to share, a review of my experience as a student (who has already obtained other degrees). I will state it simply- I got what I came for, a solid education. The workload is rigorous, thorough, extensive covering a broad academia of information, yet detailed and complete; textbook/workbook, class lectures, in person hands-on student clinic, ASCP webinars, product knowledge, etc. Available is a flexible Aesthetics program entailing a schedule in total of 600 hours, a combination of class lectures and hands-on training- learning an extensive array of services; Detox Body Ritual, Back-tial, Reflexology, HFM, Facials (Natural/Medical), Facial Massage, Brow/Lash Tinting, Brow Laminating, Lash Lifting, Waxing (soft/hard, Sugar-optional), Aromotherapy, Makeup, Anatomy, Physiology, Skin Analysis, Nutrition. My license (post obtaining the initial Esthetician license), will also include: certification in Microdermabrasion, Dermaplaning and Chemical Peels. Yes! This is all included in your initial tuition, how can you fail- you can not! Time is never wasted, no lesson/instruction denied, no opportunity too small, but instead teaching was collectively expanded upon and the learning/understanding is encompassed with the goal of mastering specific and numerous skills, first introduced and then solidified. It is awesome! But here the opportunity presented itself, allowing for my desire and energy to be received and returned in the form of a positive and continuing process, allowing for me to meet and obtain my goals and objectives. I have heard from other students seeking to obtain their Esthetics education (at other schools), an unfortunate denial of necessary support, and the lacking of quality in education. I enrolled in the five week program and had my license within six months, seems fast, and though there may have been gaps in my experience upon graduation, I made up those gaps very quickly! As a now practicing LMT in Colorado- I'll say there is a huge advantage in learning in a heavily Thai inspired environment. As I accept more hours, the body mechanics involved in Thai, as integrated into a Swedish based industry have been indispensable- i have a distinct feel that my body received less abuse and I am more versatile in addressing client's needs. That- and the staff and instructors could not have been more engaged and lovely... felt and feels like a family. Where I work now, a coworker is a grad, and immediately we had amazing report! I am a recent graduate student from the 600 hour Aesthetics Program and I've had an amazing experience here!! I started school at the beginning of April and did the immersion program. It took 5 weeks to complete the 200 hour class and my peers and I became so close. My main instructors were Martin and Belinda. They're so knowledgeable in this industry and you can really see through their passion. The rest was obtaining 400 clinical hours. The school is growing so much that they even expanded the aesthetics clinic to a new location that is about 15-20 minutes away from the Denver location. With the new spacious clinic, there's so much more space and it feels very welcoming. As a student I was able to create my own schedule that best worked for me. It was really flexible that I was able to work at my other job and go to clinic full time. You can even do full day shifts, morning and evening shifts as well. By mid November I completed all my hours!! I was excited to start my next journey, but it was soo bittersweet leaving. I met so many more students that were in the program at different times and it really became an place where it felt like family. The instructors there really provide guidance and everybody was always willing to step in and help! I didn't have Jen as an instructor, but she was always supervising clinic. Jen is probably one of the sweetest and most passionate people I have ever met! She really began to grow on me. At times when I was nervous to perform a service, she really encouraged me that I can do it. I'm so grateful for her and everyone there and I miss them all so so much. The school really prepares you for the practical portion of the exam! I passed the written and practical tests in December and while most of the studying happens at home, I felt really prepared and it's still so surreal that I'm now a Licensed Esthetician in Colorado. I mean, where do I even start honestly? There are so many amazing things that I have to say about this school I'm not sure I can list them all in a review. I started the Aesthetics program in March. We had three in person classes and then COVID-19 hit Denver hard and the school was mandated by the state to close. Being a new student, I was SO impressed with how the school handled the pandemic. With composure, grace and incredible organization and flexibility they moved our classes to zoom calls and reconfigured the clinics so we could continue our education safely and effectively. The administration department is absolutely amazing! They are so SO organized, helpful, and just there for you as a student as support in many ways. They are basically therapists at some times too ;) Jen, Sam, and Julia always respond so quickly and they get work DONE! Amazing group of ladies, I can't thank them enough for all that they have done for me during my time at school. Now to talk about my teachers. It is funny because usually in a school environment you tend to gravitate towards one or two teachers as favorites/connect with them the best. There is no way I could decide who my favorite teacher is. I love them all so much, and they all bring such unique and different perspectives and energies to the table. They all love what they do and come to class just loving to share their talents with us as students! They are all so positive and forward thinking! Martin not only has his own skincare line that we use in school but he is an incredible esthetician, so incredibly knowledgable about nutrition, herbalism, and holistic aesthetics in general. His zoom class presentations were so amazingly helpful and full of information I will value for the rest of my life! Shauna is the cutest most loving bad-ass goddess I have ever met and also happens to be the creator of the CBD skincare line, Color-Up that we use in school! So awesome. Client here not a student: I went in for an age defy facial and I enjoyed it. They use great products (Sanitas) and the student I received the facial from was professional and explained each step in the facial. My skin felt refreshed and soft after my facial. The one thing I didn't care for is that you generally don't get a private or even a semi-private space, you are in a big room with several other people so it is difficult to relax and enjoy the experience. Even if they had fabric dividers it would help (they could easily string cables across the room and hang curtains up). Also, you have no way of knowing the level of experience the individual you are booking with has or other customers experiences with said student. I was tempted to book a chemical peel, but I'm very nervous about having an inexperienced student do a procedure on me that could cause a chemical burn. Also, parking is a pain since it is street parking only in a congested area. read more

I was very pleased with my program at SBMA. I have been a massage therapist for over 19 yrs and have wanted to get my esthetician license for many years. I was living in Texas in 2019 just before Covid changed the world and so my plans were put on hold. We moved to Colorado for my husbands job transfer and began to look again into esthetician training here. After reviewing a couple of schools here in CO. I choose SBMA for many reasons. The way they structured their learning during Covid allowed us to have many choices as to how we wanted to learn and still go about our education. One thing I really liked was I was able to do an Internship with a few esthetician and get plenty of "real life" experience! I have been here three times since April 2016 and this place is awesome! I have had three different massage students work on me and each have brought their own style to the table (no pun intended) for my 90 minute deep tissue treatment. Today was my third time and the massage student was incredibly communicative and met my needs, despite it being her first time working on a person. The lead instructor, Hannah, was very effective at giving her hands-on (no pun intended) pointers about what's best for my needs. Hannah and the student worked on me simultaneously at various points and despite the intensity of two women working on you at the same time, it was a fun and relieving experience. I recently completed the classroom portion of the Aesthetics Skincare Immersion program offered by the school, and I absolutely loved it! The curriculum is very well rounded, and includes things not included in other Aesthetics programs. Chemical Peels, Microdermabrasion and Dermaplaning are usually additional certificates that have to be obtained, but this school includes them in your program for no additional cost. The director of Aesthetics, Emily Davis is awesome, knowledgeable, and knows how to teach you technical processes in a way that are relatable so you understand them. She was a huge part of why my experience here was so rewarding! Martin(of Marin George Skin line) is an incredible instructor as well. He has been in practice for years, and has developed his own skincare line. He made learning fun, and his vast knowledge is actually staggering. He is a well of valuable information and quick with a smile! I could go on and on about Tiffany, Katherine and Deanna, the other instructors, and how amazing they are, but I'll simply say that if you're looking for an Aesthetics education that is worth your time, and money (but actually affordable) look no further! You will not regret choosing this school. I sure don't! If I HAD to list a drawback...it would be that because this school is in such high demand, the class size is a bit too large. We had 24 in my class, and 18-20 would've been ideal. The school isn't large, so things could be cramped, and rushed in order to get thru all the services. I've been a loyal client of the Esthetics School since August 2013 and don't have enough praises to bestow upon the program, staff and students. I come primarily for their extremely affordable waxing services (they wax everything), but have enjoyed all manner of other beauty treatments they offer (some of which I hadn't even heard of before --dermaplaning, chemical peels, eyelash tinting etc--and none which I would be able to afford at full-price). As long as they're still in business, I honestly can't see myself going to a salon or med-spa for any of these services. Why would I? They do such a thorough job, the atmosphere is very relaxing, and you seriously can't beat the price. Of my dozens of waxing appointments, I've only had a couple student clinicians whose work wasn't up to par with that of full-price waxing studios. Since the students have expert supervision and help from their teachers, stray hairs don't go unnoticed. Oftentimes the students do a better job than professional waxers who are rushed on a time limit, and who charge an unbelievable $80 for a full leg wax. Here it's only $24, and you'd be surprised at how many opportunities they give you throughout the year to get half-price services.The other day I treated myself to a microderm (which included a nice foot/leg massage), underarm and half-leg wax, and lash tinting and it was only $52!!! Un-real! The results were spectacular too. I've always had pleasant interactions with the students, who are remarkably well-rounded and intelligent individuals from all sorts of backgrounds. They, along with my favorite supervisors Martin and Tiffany, have useful and honest advice for skin and beauty conundrums, and are always eager to help. This past winter/spring I did a series of 5 chem peels for $120 total, and I was blown away at how effective they were. Addicted to deep exfoliation now! It's super clean and everything smells very natural and botanical. They carry products from the Image Skincare line as well as Dr. Hauschka, but they are never pushy about selling them. Sometimes your service will be in a private room, but most appointments are done in a big open space with dividers for privacy. For me it feels just fine, but others accustomed to fancier arrangements might not enjoy the layout. A couple other things: -You have to set up an online account to book beauty and massage appointments. They're very easy to book and cancel, and you can see specific students' schedules if you really liked someone's work. - Allow plenty of time for parking and walking from your parking space, as it's nestled in a high-density area of big apartment complexes. - Do bring cash for tips, as you can't tip with a credit card. As someone on a budget, I am truly grateful for the amazing services they provide. I would never have even considered getting any of the skin care treatments that I do on a regular basis here, but I'm so glad that I can get them at the right price. I truly loved my time at DIMS! The teachers are a wealth of knowledge, in many healing modalities besides just massage, and they all have so so much to offer their students. Going to clinic never failed to be a grounding and peaceful experience, no matter what craziness is going on in your life, you can expect to walk in to school and have a couple hours of meditation, relaxation, laughter and lots of learning & good conversation. Everything was always streamlined...from zoom classes to clinic shifts. The entire staff is an efficient, well organized, and knowledgeable team! I decided to go with the School of Botanical Aesthetics after visiting the school and having an awesome meeting with Kristy in the office that made me feel like the school's philosophy was the best fit for me. I am now currently enrolled in the weekend aesthetics program and I am absolutely in love with the school and all of our instructors! Every weekend that I arrive to class I feel at home like I am right where I am supposed to be. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and make sure that we receive a personalized experience when we are in class. Hillary and all of the instructors have great experiences to share with us and teach in a very warm way, while still making sure that we will be well prepared to practice outside of school and pass the state boards.
