I've seen the Walk of Fame in Hollywood and a similar installation in Saint Louis. This is the Denver Colorado History Walk and it consists of more than a dozen plaques in the sidewalk honoring key moments, people and events in Denver's history. It is located opposite 16th and California Station in downtown, near the 16th Street Pedestrian Mall.
"On the Road - I walked around the sad honkytonks of Curtis Street; young kids in jeans and red shirts; peanut shells, movie marquees, shooting parlours. Beyond the glittering street was darkness, and beyond the darkness the West. I had to go. Jack Kerouac 1955"
"Teddy Bears - Teddy bears got their name when President Teddy Roosevelt posed for a photograph with his foot on the head of his trophy bear on the lawn of the Colorado Hotel in Glenwood Springs. Another guest suggested the bear be named 'Teddy.'"
"Manassa Mauler - William H. Dempsey of Manassa, Colorado began boxing as Kid Blackie. His older brother Bernie boxed as Jack Dempsey, after a famous Irish boxer. One day in Cripple Creek, when Bernie was unable to fight, the younger Dempsey took his place as Jack. He won, inherited the name, and became World Heavyweight Boxing Champion in 1919."
"The Denver Omelet. Beat 2-3 eggs per person in a large mixing bowl. Add chopped ham or bacon, green pepper and onion to taste. Pour mixture into hot frying pan. Fold to form omelet. The Denver omelet was developed to mask the stale flavor of eggs shipped by wagon freight."
"Butch Cassidy. Famous Hole in the Wall Gang outlaw Butch Cassidy robbed his first bank in the box canyon town of Telluride Colorado on June 24, 1889. Cassidy and three others made off with $20,000 from the San Miguel Valley Bank and were never caught."
