Trust me after getting a second and third opinion from other dentist. Didn't need a root canal or super high priced cleaning... sad, clients you have been warned!

On April 12th 2014 I had bitten into a hard substance and cracked a tooth, as I bit down the…read morecracked part drove into my gums causing extreme pain, the tooth could be moved with my finger very easily and also was very visible. I called Dr Marie J Basco office and they said I could come in at 11 for an extra and a consultation and it would be $100, I showed up at 11 and went through the registration process and waited for Dr Marie J Basco to see me, the extra technician put me in a room and said which tooth is it and pointed to the one that was cracked, then ex-rayed it and I waited for Dr Marie J Basco to return to see me in the room. Dr Marie J Basco looked at the ex ray and said yes I see a fracture, we can do a root canal and a crown and save the tooth, I said OK made my appointment for the next day to complete the repair. Dr Marie J Basco came in the room and administered the antiseptic and numbing agent with a needle in several areas numbing my entire mouth, once it was numb Dr Marie J Basco started working on the tooth and because I can not feel anything I'm assuming Dr Marie J Basco is working on the cracked tooth number 13 when in fact they were working on the wrong tooth number 12 of which I didn't know because I was totally numb. After two hours the medication was wearing off and I touched the tooth that was broken with my tong and to my shock they were working on number 12 not the broken one 13, i explained this to the assistant and she said she was only do what had been instructed and that I would have to wait till Dr Marie J Basco was finished with another patient before we could go any further, I wanted for 45 minutes because she was in the office that day by her self and the schedule was completely booked. Dr Marie J Basco cam in the room and listened to what I had to say and apologized and said I should have used my stick to make sure we were on the correct tooth, next time I will make sure my staff dose this to avoid this in the future. Dr Marie J Basco applied more Novocaine with the needle to my mouth and decided that tooth number 13 that I came in for had to extracted and could be saved, in the meanwhile I now have a good tooth carved for a crown and that I just had gone through a root canal that was very long and painful. Pulling the tooth took quite some time maybe an hour or so because it was broken off and only a small piece could be grabbed by her pliers to remove it, the tooth then broke off and had to be drilled out and that took anther hour. I was in the chair for over six hours and by the time I left I was mentally shot, I just wanted to pay my bill and leave, as I was doing so Elsie Chua office manager said that my bill was going to be $883 and the crown would be $1000 and that I would have to pay half of the $1000 and that would be a deposit on the crown once it was ordered so I wrote a check for $1383 0n 4/15/2014 so I could just get out of there. The following week I went back and spoke with Elsie saying that i wasn't comfortable having Dr Marie J Basco complete the work and would like my $500 dollars back for the crown deposit because I was going to have it done else were based on my experience at Dr Marie J Basco office. Elsie Chua said maybe they could refund $250 back but she would have to discuss this with Dr Marie J Basco and then call me back, that never happened so today 7/1/2014 I stopped in to speak with Elsie Chua, she informed me there would be no refund and that I owed $500 for the crown that was never order no a mold taken for to do so. All I wanted was my deposit back for something that was never order or a mold taken to produce, this has been the worse experience of my life and I would with this on anyone, so don't go to Dr Marie J Basco DDS office.

On August 20, 2026, my wife arrived for her scheduled dental appointment at 12:30 PM because she…read morehad been experiencing pain and discomfort in her tooth. Approximately six months earlier, she had been advised that she might eventually need a root canal and was prescribed ibuprofen to help manage her discomfort. During today's follow-up visit, my wife explained that she had begun experiencing discomfort again and simply asked whether she could be prescribed ibuprofen. She specifically requested ibuprofen--not narcotics or any controlled substance. Unfortunately, according to my wife, Dr. Elaheh Habibi's response and demeanor made her feel as though she was being treated like someone seeking drugs rather than a patient seeking appropriate treatment for dental pain. This was completely unacceptable and deeply concerning. There is a significant difference between appropriately evaluating a patient's request for pain management and making a patient feel judged, stereotyped, or accused because they asked for a commonly prescribed non-narcotic medication. My wife deserved to be treated with dignity, professionalism, and respect. I work in the medical field myself, and I understand the importance of responsible prescribing and the need to protect patients and providers. However, professionalism also means communicating with patients respectfully, listening to their concerns, and avoiding behavior that can make a patient feel stigmatized or humiliated. I believe this incident warrants serious attention. No patient should leave a medical or dental office feeling as though they were treated like a drug seeker simply because they asked about ibuprofen. I am requesting a formal apology from Dr. Habibi and an explanation regarding how my wife was treated during this encounter. I also intend to pursue the appropriate channels for reporting this incident to the applicable licensing and regulatory authorities so that the matter can be properly reviewed. This is not about demanding medication. This is about demanding respect, professionalism, accountability, and appropriate patient care. I will not tolerate my wife or any patient being treated in a manner that compromises their dignity. I expect this matter to be taken seriously and addressed appropriately.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Shore Haven Dentistry. In December 2025, I paid…read more$1,602 out of pocket for a crown that failed within a few months. The crown repeatedly fell off, and during a follow-up visit I was informed that the underlying tooth structure could not adequately support a crown. After learning this, I sent a formal written request for a refund and received no response. I also called the office twice requesting to speak with office management and never received a return call. As a patient, I expected professional communication and accountability, especially after paying a significant amount for treatment that did not succeed. Because my concerns were ignored, I reported the matter to my dental insurance company for review. While treatment outcomes vary, patients deserve timely responses when problems arise and reasonable efforts to address failed treatment. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and refusal to address my concerns has left me with no confidence in this practice. Their office manager or financial person will not return my calls, and I have been professional in the handling of this matter. Management resolved the issue at hand. They were professional in handling the situation and everything was resolved.
