I try to see the good in establishments, pointing out where businesses can improve and what they did exceptional. Today I have the pleasure of writing about a journey to obtain something personal. An experience that is rarely experienced in life, and achievement of something I have wanted for a long time with little to no effort or pain on my behalf. It is rare to provide a review like this, and I hope you take the time to read my journey and appreciate what I went through. When I was 11 years old, my little brother and I got into an argument, and he threw a glass at me (kids right?). The glass shattered 80% of me right front tooth so that I could spend the next 30 years having people stare at it and make me feel subconscious about it. I would have to go every 3-5 years to the dentist to have them rebuild the tooth with a material that always chipped, would get discoloured with coffee, not to mention that for over 20 of those years, I was a heavy smoker (I have quit now!) I even had children at my kids' school call me "Yellow Tooth" to my face! It was quite humiliating. But every time I spoke to a professional, I was told the same thing: "We can re-build the tooth or put a false tooth in - one being affordable, the other being super expensive". I couldn't afford a false tooth... nor did I want to go through that. So, I would just have it rebuilt every few years and assumed that was going to be routine for the rest of my life. Until I walked into Dentistry on Thornhill Woods. They literally changed my life. Dr. Kent is an incredible dentist. He is very warm and even keel. He too has a great smile, and is very confident in his skills. He is a super competent dentist, and is very talented in what he does. He loves to take charge of the situation, and you can tell he instinctively knows what the right thing to do is. Most doctors try to rush you out the door so they can get to the next patient and make more money, but I never once got this sense from Dr. Kent. He is a methodical man that likes to take his time and do things right the first time, and you can tell that he instills this ethic in his staff as they are all patient, great listeners and are never in a rush to get you out the door. Nancy and Dr. Kent are really a dynamic duo that are hard to contend with. They always make me feel welcome, ensure I am comfortable and that I am an important client to the clinic. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I rarely do this, but I give Dentistry on Thornhill Woods a 5+ Star rating. They truly are perfect in every way possible. I have severely sensitive teeth, so I was terrified to get my Invisalign put on because of the sensitivity, the hygienist took her time and did everything she could to make sure I was comfortable and relaxed during the process (despite it being more time consuming and difficult for her). The front desk workers do everything they can to accommodate my school and work schedule as well. Dr. Chu is funny, kind and really cares about the functionality of the office.

No crazy sales tactics here. My teeth aren't perfect either. The hygienists that have worked on my teeth were great! Professional, friendly, attentive, and thorough. I get food dental hygiene advice when I need it. The staff are warm, the place is clean and inviting, and kids love it there, it's quite kid friendly with toys/arcade machines and a treasure chest. Both my wife and I have been coming here since we moved into the area 5 years ago and now that we have children we plan to have our kids visit this dental office as well. They've also upgraded their equipment recently, new massage chairs that helped me relax while I got my teeth cleaned. New X-Ray machine. Etc. Seems like they're on the ball with emerging technologies. Furthermore, we were always admitted on time for our appointments. We never had to wait long periods of time in the waiting area. They're also very accommodating when making appointments, especially with couples like us who have young children and need to balance our time carefully.

Over billing me hundreds of dollars for a simple anti-inflammatory (free). Firing their best people to save money and make money for those who opened the place 30 plus years ago to make money off the backs of those who made it so great while hiring the most inept Millennials who wouldn't even want to finish 1/4 of their job. That was enough for me. I am still feeling the botched & painful job that they did. Knowing they at least they fired 1 of the useless dentists there but not the others. They took their model of being a family friendly business & knowing they're buying luxury cars, cottages, yachts & all things that glitter gold rather than keeping their patients in good rapport. Is a shame because they brought me back form the fear of my last dentist.. 30+ years ago & had 3 generations of family going their. I never wish ill upon anybody but if anyone were to cause harm to me and my family for money and then I hope they go down in flames!!! I still think that way, however dealing with both Mike and Sandra is gradually changing my mind. Both of them are amongst the best dentists that I've ever encountered. They are professional, courteous and I find it amazing that they can remain so calm when dealing with screaming kids, parents, patients in pain, etc, etc, etc. Everyone that works at this centre are fantastic: from the reception staff to the dental assistants/hygenists...all have personality plus. They make visiting this office a pleasure. The exam rooms are spotless, as is the waiting room and reception area. A small playroom is available to keep the small ones entertained so they're not focused on where they're at. A TV and magazine rack are used to entertain those of us too big for the play room....it is a welcome distraction when you're waiting for someone to stick some sort of pain inducing instrument in your mouth! Kudos to both of them for creating such a welcoming environment and for being the epitome of what a dentist should be.
