I recently went to Algodones Mx. for some dental work. I ended up having it done at Algodones Dental Implants. (Jose A. Valenzuela) 1005 2nd St. I was seen after X-rays by Dr. Copa. Told him of my dental needs. He looked and after consultation left. He sent another guy in with a quote. It was way to much money for my budget. So I opted for just some of the work. Which was a cleaning and brightening procedures.
I was very unhappy with the service and the results. I have tried every way I can to find and write a review, so you can be forewarned. What I discovered, before finding YELP, is it is impossible to find a way to write reviews about the individual dental companies there in Algodones. That should be taken as a warning. Read all reviews. You will find them all positive. I did. Couldn't find one negative review. Should there be negative reviews in there, somewhere?
First procedure: the cleaning. Two persons were involved. the cleaner and her assistant. They both wore surgical gloves. However the assistant after repeatedly getting her gloves in contact with my mouth and naturally coming in contact with my saliva went repeatedly and moved equipment around. Light posts etc. she was reaching and contacting that equipment and a dropped a equipment plug on the floor and picked it up off the floor with those gloves hand. I looked at the floor and equipment. The floor was not clean and the equipment had dirty surfaces plainly evident. She returned to assist with those same gloves on that had come into contact with those dirty things, without replacing those gloves and put those gloves hands in contact with my mouth, again.
AIDS is spread by bodily fluids. Saliva is one of the means by which AIDS is spread. Sure enough you can appreciate my alarm by their obvious lack of proper hygiene. You can imagine this assistant following the same undisciplined procedure with every customer. Therefore the last customer was treated to the same un- hygienic process. In other words she touched the very same equipment with saliva from the last customer. Then came in contact with the same equipment with my "wet" saliva, transferring the older saliva with my saliva and the putting those contaminated gloves back in "my" mouth. It there any guarantees their previous customers weren't AIDS carriers. Saving some money is great, to a point.
The cleaner never mentioned any damage to my teeth as a result of her procedure.
Second procedure: Whitining. My teeth were whitened. It took a while. The same assitant that worked with the cleaner assisted with the whitining. She moved more equipment around wearing the same gloves. I was handed a mirror when the had finished. I took a quick look at how the whitening went. I should have done a better inspection. After getting back to Yuma I took a better look, only to discover that somewhere in the cleaners actions she had taken a good sized chip out of one of my upper front teeth. It is a good sized chunk of tooth missing. It is very evident, and very disappointing every time I open my mouth, there it is plain as day. The cleaner had to have noticed but kept her mouth shut. Sure, wanting to keep her job, probably.
They gave me a device they molded for further whitening to take home with me, applying a clear type paste to put in the molds to further whitening of my teeth.
When I went in, that tooth was not chipped. There was to chip in that tooth on the xrays. However the chip tooth is clearly evident in the mold they made after cleaning and whitening procedures. Common sense dictates the chip, therefore, took place between the X-rays and the whitening. But my money in on it happening during the clean when the where using metal tools with lots of pressure to remove stubborn plaque But they did "not" bother advising me of the damage they did to that tooth.
I called right after discovering the chipped tooth. They set up an appointment for a repair. They did not mention that it would and should be a free repair. They did "not" apologize and or admit anything. Though I'm sure they are aware of the proof that I also have, X-rays& dental mold proves. Beyond any doubt when and where the damage was done.
I can't tell you where to get or not get your dental needs taken care of. But I will say this.
Saving money isn't what's most important when you do business, with anyone. Be careful choosing any dental facility in Mx. and be sure to sight my review and the unsanitary methods that I experienced and insist that such flagrant disregard for proper heigene will not be tolerated by you. You have every right to insist on it and they have a absolute responsibility to provide it to you and every patient that comes through there clinics.
Will I go back to that outfit to have my tooth fixed, even if it's free? No way! Try suing a dental outfit in Mexico. And if you are unlucky and get AIDS, sorry to date there is no cure.
This doesn't happen to everyone. But it happens. Hope it isn't you. read more
