Get it in writing UP FRONT! Don't trust verbal statements!…read more Client for several years. Made appt for a crown. Cost $285 with my insurance for a lab made crown, or over $1,000 for a same day CERAC crown. I opted for a lab crown. Went in for appt and the Dental Assistant tells me I can get the CERAC crown, for the same price as the lab made crown, $285. Was told the CERAC is done in less than 2 hours, AND it incudes a 5 year same office warranty that the lab crown does not include. Yes, the exact same price, with a 5 year warranty. I was out in under 2 hours with my new CERAC crown. On April 24, 2026, I emailed the office to ask for a copy of the 5 year warranty. I got no reply for 5 days, so on April 29, I emailed again, saying that one of the selling points was the 5 year warranty, and there had to be something I could get in writing about it. Bernice calls me and says that because I paid the same for the CERAC, as the lab crown costs, I was not entitled to the 5 year warranty. I explain to Bernice the Dental Assistant used the 5 year warranty as a benefit to me of getting that crown. Bernice, said it doesn't apply to the discounted price. Bernice said she would talk to the Dental Assistant and call me back. On May 5, I called and asked for Bernice. Christian said she was busy, but he knows every detail about what happened. He told me he was aware of what I was told, the Dental Asst confirmed that she DID tell me the 5 year warranty was included, however, they would not be honoring the 5 year warranty because even though she, "made a mistake", I didn't pay for the warranty and therefore it would not be honored for me. No apology. Christian repeated that I didn't pay for a warranty and I wasn't getting one. No apology. He was saying, yes we offered you a warranty, INCLUDED with the price of the CERAC crown, BUT we admit we made a mistake and we refuse to honor that mistake, even though there is no financial loss to our business because if something were to go wrong with that crown in the future, we would bill it through your insurance anyways, and we could just write off your 20% co-pay. I asked if Dr. Miaoulis was aware of the situation, and what I was being told. I truly didn't think Miaoulis would approve the way it was being handled because I know he is a shrewd business person, but Christian surprised me by saying the Dr. was fully aware and he wasn't going to honor the warranty, even though his personnel screwed up. No apology. It seemed the calmer I was in trying to rationalize with Christian, how bad of a business decision this was, even saying that I'm not yelling, I'm not swearing, I'm not making threats, it was making me not want to come back and to let others know, Christian got more irritated and then he said, Dr Miaoulis is willing to offer a 1 year warranty on that crown for you. So, why wasn't that mentioned at the start? You wait until I imply I won't be back and that I'll leave a review about this experience, before throwing out a 1 year warranty that Miaoulis allegedly had already approved? I told Christian it's unfortunate something which likely wouldn't have cost them anything, assuming nothing happens to the crown over the next 5 years, will cost them a good client who will now let others know about this situation, which may result in someone choosing to not go there, with the result being a loss to that office of more than what the warranty would have cost. Christian said he was sorry it came to that but he understood my feelings and I should do whatever I needed to do. Pretty arrogant, in my opinion. The loss of my next visit alone, not counting the lost future years of revenue, exceeds whatever non-costs from offering the warranty would have been incurred. For the next patient it happens to, start by making a genuine apology for the mistake your business made. Take ownership and don't blame the patient. Then, immediately offer the best alternative option. Don't wait until the patient says they won't be back to throw out an olive branch that you could have started with, allegedly.

This is the best…read moredentist I've ever had, my insurance changed earlier this year and my copays increased but I couldn't fathom the idea of changing dentists. Today was a great example of why I will continue to recommend and be a patient at this office. I broke an old filling while on vacation last week. I called and Terry fit me right in on the schedule. I arrived on time for my appointment and they promptly called me back. I am 6 months pregnant and getting dental work is a scary thought. They were entirely prepared and up to date on my chart, I was given also extra protection during x-ray and they explained risk associated with pregnancy and dental work. Start to finish, forty minutes and two fillings later I was on my way home. I felt no pain or discomfort in the initial exam, novocaine injection, or drilling/filling. Five hours later I am still pain free. Dr. McAdams and his awesome staff makes visiting the dentist a joy, I could fall asleep in his dental chair. My troublesome tooth feels great and my bite is perfect. I had no wait or delay in treatment and no pain at all. Not sure what would make a dental experience any better.

I had an extremely negative experience with Dr. Nejad at First Scottsdale Dental. What was supposed…read moreto be a simple filling procedure in December turned into a long-term problem that has significantly impacted my daily life. Before this visit, I had never experienced issues with my teeth, bite alignment, or speech. My teeth were straight, healthy, pain-free, and functioned normally. I went in expecting routine fillings on my upper left and right teeth, but immediately afterward my bite was completely off. My teeth began colliding against each other in an unnatural way, causing constant pain, discomfort, and pressure. My speech was also impaired almost immediately after the procedure. I returned multiple times for adjustments, but the issue was never properly corrected. In fact, after one adjustment, part of a filling chipped and became lodged between two teeth to the point that I could not floss between them. The quality of the dental work and overall standard of care I received were deeply concerning. Although Dr. Nejad attempted to fix the problem, it became clear she did not have the skill or precision necessary to properly correct what had been done. The work itself felt rough and overly aggressive, and excessive filing left my teeth feeling unnatural and damaged. The situation became so severe that I eventually had to seek treatment from another dentist and pay out of pocket to have the fillings redone. While that helped somewhat, my bite still has not fully returned to normal, and I continue to experience pain and discomfort on a daily basis. This experience has affected my quality of life in ways I never could have imagined from what should have been a routine dental procedure. I would strongly caution others to carefully consider this before trusting First Scottsdale Dental with their dental care.

Subject: Unsafe and Traumatic Experience at 1st Dental - Scottsdale…read moreI had a deeply distressing experience at 1st Dental in Scottsdale that I feel compelled to share. Before my visit, I was told by the front desk staff (Debbie) that my appointment would only involve two fillings. However, when I arrived, the plan and communication changed without explanation. When I confronted Debbie, she rolled her eyes, and continued to be rude and dismissive to my concerns. She had a dismissive attitude towards my trauma. This woman needs to be removed from interacting with humans. I informed the dentist that I have complex PTSD (CPTSD) and may experience emotional responses during treatment. As I began to relax under nitrous oxide, I started to cry -- something I explained was a normal trauma release and not a sign of distress. Instead of responding with understanding, the dentist appeared frightened, turned down the nitrous oxide, and continued the procedure while I was in intense pain. When I tried to explain my trauma response, the dentist said she did not wish to understand my trauma. Yes, you read that correctly, she stated she did NOT want to hear about my trauma and work with me!!! That moment made me feel profoundly unsafe, dismissed, and retraumatized. I was left in unnecessary pain, and the fillings I came for were never completed. I am sharing this so that others who live with trauma, anxiety, or PTSD are aware that this office is not trauma-informed and may not be equipped to provide compassionate care for patients with sensitive medical or emotional needs. I hope 1st Dental takes this as an opportunity to train their staff in trauma-informed care and honest communication so no other patient has to endure what I did. If you want to be traumatized, go to Dr. Nejard!

Unfortunately, I will no longer be going to see S&C Dental. They charge TOO much. I have great dental insurance and it is depleted after one visit. They want all money up front before you even get the service done. I don't have thousands of dollars just sitting around to pay in full even before service has been done. They are NOT flexible at all with creating a dental payment plan. They just expect me to whip out a credit card and charge it. Like most working people I work paycheck to paycheck. I believe because of the swanky Scottsdale location, they just think everyone has that kind of money lying around. I am sad because I really loved that office.

We moved to Scottsdale about six or seven years ago. My wife did a ton of research before picking a…read moredentist and she chose S&L with Dr. David Ngo. I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. If you're looking for a truly professional dentist who gives five-star care and service, this is the place. Dr. David Ngo at S&L is the only one I would recommend without any hesitation.

I chose this dentist because of all the amazing reviews, and so I thought I'd detail my experience…read morebecause it wasn't as perfect as the reviews make it seem. They seem very knowledgable and seem to know what they're doing when it comes to dentistry, but my concerns are more in the administration side of things. I changed jobs earlier this year and got new insurance with a common major insurance provider, and I needed to get a procedure done. I asked them what the procedure would cost and they gave me a quote, which was already expensive, and I paid that at the time of service. However, when I came in for a routine cleaning 6 months later, they said the insurance "didn't pay as much as they thought" and stuck me with MORE THAN DOUBLE their original quote. I looked into the insurance claim and called the insurance company myself, and the insurance company paid exactly what was according to their billing schedule. There were no surprises. I think the office knew (or should have known, because they're the professionals and this is what they do) that this would happen, and they dishonestly gave me a lower quote, did the service, and then stuck me with the even more expensive bill (but to their credit, they did give me a lower price than what they billed to insurance, but it was still VERY expensive that I was not prepared for). Additionally, I distinctly recall the procedure treated four teeth, but then on the bill and insurance claim, they say they treated six. Unfortunately, I don't really know how to argue this, especially because it happened so long ago. I suspect they didn't contact me about this issue earlier for this exact reason. Again, dishonest. Another concern with this dentist is that it's unprofessional that they use Zelle to get around credit/debit card transaction fees. Every merchant has to deal with card transaction fees, they shouldn't be up-charging that cost and they shouldn't be using Zelle, which is supposed to just be a peer-to-peer payment network. Lastly, as much as I love dogs, I don't think it's hygienic that they keep a dog in their office. In all, I started off loving this dentist, and very disappointed that they turned out to be this unprofessional and dishonest. I'm sad I'll have to go elsewhere from now on.
