These guys were ready to go the moment I dropped my car off. They have good clear systems and didn't just manage to keep to schedule, they actually finished early (what the? That never happens!!). The job that they did was great; it was a nice extra touch that my truly filthy car was given a bit of a spruce up and clean. Could not recommend them highly enough. I know that an earlier reviewer didn't love their service, but I'm just wishing I could see service like this in more places!

Their website says they clean cars inside and out before handing back to the owner, and well... they kinda did... sorta... Let's start with the outside. My tyres were all black and shiny, lovely. The side of the car with the damage was all cleaned and polished (as evidenced by the thick smears of polish left on the car), but not the other side. There was a clear line down the middle. The man doing the hand over grabbed a cloth and wiped it down as best he could. Inside. Well sure, they vacuumed the carpets, but over all the interior was dirtier than when I took it in. There's fine white dust all through their workshop, which is to be expected. I didn't expect the drivers door to be covered in the hand marks from it (which he also tried to wipe down), and when I got the car home I also noticed the back seat was covered in more hand marks. I don't even know what they needed to be doing in the back seat to repair a panel on the front of the car. Sure, I only drive a Ford, but I sure hope they don't treat the prestige cars in their name this way. While the repair was fine, quite honestly, if my insurer ever refers me here again I'm going to ask for a different place.

So, went to my Tiguan owners group Facebook page to ask for rim repair recommendations in Brisbane. One of the first to respond was a woman on the Gold Coast who had used FIXARIM and posted some amazing before and after pics, so checked to see if they had a Brisbane office and they do. I booked an appointment online, was quoted a very reasonable $160, (what price vanity?) and was contacted shortly thereafter. A rim repair tech named Alex came to our home, assessed the damage, invited me to watch if I wanted to (a nice touch which I did) and then the magic began. The whole process from start to finish was an exercise in professional service and technique. The outcome? Upon arriving at Northside Smash Repairs the female administration staff member offered me a coffee and my son a drink. Furthermore she went out of her way to find a TV show my son would enjoy watching and presented him with some colouring to keep him amused. She was very professional and thoughtful at all times. Steve Davies (who was extremely well presented) welcomed us warmly and immediately inspected my car. I was surprised when he wrote up a quote within minutes when I had previously been made to wait days to hear back from other companies. I was expecting the quote to be very expensive due to the lovely service I had received and also due to the immaculate presentation of their staff (very different to the other smash repair companies I had received quotes from). I was shocked when I was presented with a quote that was much lower than their competitors. Steve offered to start work on my vehicle immediately and explained that he would return my vehicle by "tomorrow" as the work required would need to be completed over two days. I was kept informed, throughout the entire process, of how the work was progressing and at what time I could collect my vehicle. Upon completion of my repairs my car was returned to me looking new and I was additionally presented with a paint correction pen (for future use on stone chips etc). I was overwhelmed by the outstanding service Steve had bestowed upon me. At all times Steve and the staff were extremely professional and accommodating in order to make the process as easy as possible for me. I wasn't surprised when I discovered that my employer was also extremely satisfied with the work he had also had completed by Steve and the team at Northside Smash Repairs. Thankfully the company said they'd cover the damage. When I rang around for quotes, I was shocked to find out you need to replace the whole tail light! McLean motors was good on price, but what really impressed me was that they also found a second hand option and quoted on that as well. As the ferry company was paying I went with the new replacement, however I really liked that they gave a cheaper option. They could fit me in the next day, so I drove out there, waited half an hour and it was done. On the invoice they only charged me $50 for labour, so again I have no complaints about their prices. When I was there a regular customer came in, they called him by name, recalled his car type, and discussed when he would need a service. This seems to be a really good mechanic, equipped with all the mod cons but with a satisfyingly old fashioned notion of service.

I spent a really solid amount of money getting a new factory roof fitted to my van and my roof…read moregutters strengthened by these guys. The windscreen had to come out to do this. The windscreen was refitted using the old windscreen rubbers that were obviously cracked and past their use by date. No sealant was used. The assumption was made that I would prefer to fit a leaky windshield back in after doing major work to my vehicle. I was not consulted, given a choice or told of this. Days after the job was finished rain poured in (yes poured - not dripped) through the centre top of the windscreen seal over the rear vision mirror and cascading through my dashboard. The stereo and airconditioning/heating/ventilation system was destroyed by water. The owner blamed the windscreen guy. He refused to take responsibility for his subcontracter or the end result. Still there was no acknowledgement or responsibility taken by Impact that they had handed me back a vehicle that was not even waterproof because of the work they had done. I had no recourse. The work was immediately prior to Christmas and a nice wet season. But now the workmanship has revealed some more of such quality. It is now 4 years later and the paint that Impact body works applied to the factory supplied roof is coming off in sheets revealing bare metal below. There is rust coming through the seams where the metal was not cleaned and stabilised. Everywhere else the van is absolutely fine. It is only where these guys have touched it there are problems. This guy is a motorcycle helmet airbrush artist who needed to make his business bigger so he started doing cars and he obviously lacks some of the expertise required in his workshop but far worse than that, he lacks the integrity to stand by the work that he has done.

I was put onto Impact after seeing some of their work on friends cars. The workmanship has always been of a very high standard with no corners cut. The paintwork was blended and matched perfectly with no discolouration three years on. Body shops in the past have matched the paint but months later discolouration has occurred and I've had to have their work rectified. This hasn't been the case with Impact. I should also mention that Impact has also used high quality replacement parts in their repairs with Adrian able to source hard to procure ORIGINAL parts and keeping me abreast of progress on the car. Impact have always gone the extra mile with my cars and have been flexible with pickup and dropoff. I'm based on the Gold Coast but it's worth the drive for the service and high quality work.
