So you know when you think you've found a bargain online, and it turns out to cost you a mint? I did that to myself recently when I bought an iPod connector $25 for my car stereo. It WAS super cheap - however having it blow all my fuses and paying somebody $95 for an hour's labour to identify the fault wasn't.
Thankfully, this is where things start to get 5 star. Firstly, Alderley Auto Accessories came and looked at my car when it was being serviced by Bridgestone Select up the road (I like neighbourliness). Secondly, I think $95 an hour is OK for an auto electrician because of course he tested everything before looking at my shitty iPod connector in the cigarette lighter. Thirdly (and most importantly) they knocked $100 off the usual $300 price for me to get the iPod connector thing installed properly, which I know is below market price anyway as I rang around before buying said crap item.
So yes, I'm out $300 just before Christmas, however that is $300 I should have spent anyway if I wanted a proper music solution. Also, a jolly good laugh was had by all - and a jolly good time will be guaranteed on the impending 10 hour Christmas drive. read more
