I was unfortunate enough to find myself in the midst of a fender bender on my trek home from visiting family 2 weeks ago. The damage was minimal and only cosmetic, but the cost I was quoted to fix (replace) my bumper was going to be somewhere in the ballpark of $2,000 when all was said and done. I immediately got online and searched for the best body shops around Kansas City. Dent Physicians was among the highest rated, but what really caught me was the longevity of the business. Someone who's been around that long and still is that highly rated, must be worth a shot. I called to see if they would be able to squeeze me in for an appointment and was asked to swing by once I got into town to get a quote. I ended up getting back 5 minutes before close of business, but when I called to let them know my status, I was still welcomed with open arms (my first personal experience with how great they would be). I met with Ruben and he treated me like I was family, literally giving me advice as if I were his own daughter. I didn't use insurance to have my car fixed, and so he did everything in his power to salvage parts instead of replace. As luck would have it, I was going out of town that following weekend (just 3 days later) for work. I was conveniently able to drop my car off on the way to the airport for them to repair while I was gone. My final cost of repairs ended up being less than the amount to just replace the parts. I was extremely happy with the fantastic job that Ruben and the team at Dent Physicians did! You can't even tell that I was ever in an accident, and I didn't have to pay unnecessary money to get that. It's hard to find that kind of service these days! Dent Physicians sets a new standard for honesty in the automobile world. They're a small, unassuming body shop off Merriam and Johnson but don't let looks deceive you: they know their cars and understand the true meaning of "smart business." I got into a minor fender bender a couple weeks ago, and have been to Dent Physicians twice in the last 4 days for estimates (mostly out of sheer paranoia). After both trips, I walked away satisfied without paying a cent. The first trip, Rueben helped me realign the hood of my car for no charge; the second trip, Dave replaced a lost screw inside my hood, also for no charge. They both gave me their opinions of the damage and the cost to either 1) replace my hood or 2) re-align the hood to the car, but both told me that both options are strictly cosmetic and I don't need to spend the $150-$1000+ dollars to fix the issue. I had taken my car for an estimate to another...ahem, un-named body shop in the area with a full 5-star Yelp review slate. They were less honest, kind, and helpful than both Rueben and Dave, and hadn't bothered to mention my car would run fine without the fixes, even after I asked them about it. I'll be avoiding them like the plague in the future, that's for sure. Both trips had me walking out confident about my car situation, and completely ecstatic to have found an honest car shop that I know I can go to when necessary. Their quotes are around market price in comparison to the estimates that I got elsewhere, but you'll be able to sleep well at night knowing they're not quoting you just to get inside your wallet. I bought a new car June 1st of this year and sustained hail damage the same day. I had the damage appraised at three different locations and the gentleman indicating he was the owner offered his services for the same price. I decided to not get a few chrome trim pieces replaced and was suppose to have gotten a refund from him for the excess paid. I've contacted him three times since picking the car up in June, twice on the phone and once in person. I've never received the promised check from him. The exterior work was quite satisfactory although I had dirty patches on the headliner on both sides of the car just above the seats. I figure that's where the gentlemen pressing the headliner back into place were putting upward pressure on the headliner. I cleaned that off myself with interior cleaner. My advice would be to not give any money to him above what's needed to pay your bill. Otherwise you might be giving him a $300 tip like I ended up doing. read more
