As far as Denny's go, this one exceeded expectations with the lovely waitress. The place was clean. We were seated right away. Brought hot coffee promptly. Even when ordering, our waitress recommend the best way to order our meals to include pancakes for my grandkids. They were out of regular creamer, but our waitress brought us milk as well as hazelnut creamer for our coffee. I had a grand slam with eggs, double bacon, hash browns and pancakes, which my grandson ate. My daughter had an omelet and it was delicious. Happy to have had breakfast here before heading home after a long night of storms. Bathrooms were clean and stocked. Parking lot had ample parking. It was also nice they had tv's with the local news playing. After seeing the aftermath of Atticus, I'm glad we stopped and stayed in Effingham for the night. read more

The single worst experience I have ever had with a waitress. The food was decent, and the place was clean, and the kitchen staff were great. The waitress Mandi on the other hand was overwhelmed apparently, with 1 already seated and served table there. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt, but when you don't want to get an extra kids menu because you miscounted, got upset when asked if what was brought out was what was ordered (it wasn't), and then loudly ranted at the kitchen staff because you were asked to verify if an ingredient that a customer is allergic to is in an item, then you probably should not be in any kind of service. Of course there was no manager, and whenever we refused to pay for the one item that we did not ask for, went back and yelled at the staff that woe is me, these customers are awful and demanding. She may have been stressed, but wow. Never going to Denny's again read more

First the ladies that were waiting on us, they were very nice and also helpful. They made the experience for me a little more special. The food itself was good, but could be better. The chicken fried steak came with two side dishes mashed potatoes and squash. The squash was sauteed, this was my least favorite of everything, they were sitting in the oils. Went for breakfast this past Sunday morning around 1030 am. Place was very clean, waited about 10 minutes to seat. Wait staff looked short handed but they were all working hard and very attentive. Nathan R was one of the best servers I've had in a while. I had a picky order, and we ordered quite a bit of food - Nathan didn't even have to write it down. We got: -Cali Chicken burrito - He said he liked it, came with chips -Beyond Burger on bun - next time no bun; I added a fried egg, just wish the cheese melted a little. Also added red onion and jalapeños -Sampler platter - seasoned fries, onion rings, cheese sticks and chicken strips - the fries were great, everything else wasn't that special. Pleasantly surprised after a long day of driving,we went to the Denny's as it was in the parking lot of Hampton Inn. Not having high expectations at a Denny's is where I was wrong. The menu was very diverse with traditional burgers and fries, but also salmon, steaks and salads. I would imagine I could have had breakfast if I wanted. Our hostess was our waitress and the restaurant was not busy at all. She seemed like she ran the place and was very knowledgeable. I could hear her once telling the kitchen staff how to prepare a meal. My bourbon burger was excellent, as it was just as pictured and cooked as ordered. Others at the table were happy with their meals. When speaking with our hostess/ waitress she was pleasant and had fun with us. I did hear her talking to the table next to us that she has been working over 12 hours daily, so as with everywhere, they must be short staffed. The only negative comment was the exterior of the building. It need the parking lot cleaned and windows washed. read more

If you don't mind run down seating and a greasy walled environment, this might be just the place for you. I normally let things go but this is the single most disgusting environment I've eaten in. To start bugs, of some sort in the light fixtures overhead. The seats were grease and split open at least 4 inches ripped out of the cushion in cresent shape, the entire width of cushion. The cushion still inside the seats, despite being foam, had the appearance of moldy bread. There was food stuck to the table in plain view. Dinner was served after 20 minute wait and party of 2 were served 5 minutes apart. WTF? None of the plates looked anything like a Dennys advertisement or the presentation you would expect. The oil they cooked in was old. Several days old. It ruined the fries for both of us. Neither finished. I left a ten dollar tip on a 30 dollar meal and got out of there while i still had my health. Never saw anyone washing hands when they came in from smoking either. Nasty, Nasty, Nasty If you ever scored this swill at above a 3 you are out of your mind. Update....... no one has contacted me. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of service here. I'm thinking the place may have recently been re-renovated as everything seemed relatively new and was in good order. The staff was very friendly and attentive. My glass never came close to being empty ! Not to mention the order was taken quickly and did not take long to come out to the table. For my first time at this location, I ordered the bacon cheese burger with fries and I must say, it was really good. It presented well, was not all smashed or flattened out, and everything about it was fresh. I was very pleased. Then it was all topped off with a nice two scoop hot fudge Sunday and my waitress was not stingy with the whip cream after I mentioned that I like a little extra on my Sundays. When we walked in we were seated within a minute. Denny's was pretty packed. Our waitress, Janelle, was very nice and was very quick for how packed Denny's was. We got our drinks within 5 minutes of walking into Denny's. We ordered our food about 3 minutes after getting our drinks. So within 10 minutes of walking to the restaurant we had everything ordered and waiting on our food. 5/12/17 We tried going to a couple of local, non-chains, but they were packed so we decided to head to Denny's. The server was friendly enough, but she was really flustered and the restaurant wasn't that busy and they had a lot of staff. I'm not sure if she was new and it was nerves or what but I ordered a build-your-own burger with cheese, BBQ, and bacon and got a hamburger with bacon. At one point my husband tried to flag her down to get some milk for our son and I swear she said, "What now?" (Like 'what do you want now' ! Not good...) When my husband ordered his meal, he asked specifically for the "slam" that was on the sign advertised for $4.99 when we walked in. The bill came and he was overcharged. She had entered the wrong meal in the computer and to adjust the price, she gave him a 15% off coupon. Although we didn't quite receive what we ordered, what we got was good. The server was very sweet but very flustered. It seems that her co-workers could have helped her adjust our bill. After a long day of traveling, this was kind of a disappointment. read more

As I entered this Denny's, one of the employees quit in a blinding fit of rage. She was screaming and swearing at one of her coworkers, who looked to be on the verge of tears. At first I thought that this restaurant would be awful, and that I would severely regret eating there, since it was giving off so many red flags from the people who worked there. However, just as I was about to say, "Ok, let's go somewhere else", I was struck with an epiphany. I realized that this was a new restaurant experience I thought I had never encountered before, but something about it seemed very familiar. I was suddenly filled with a feeling of wonder and curiosity as I realized that above all else, I HAD to eat at this restaurant. I LOVED this environment this Denny's had provided for me, and I wasn't about to give it up. My colleagues, on the other hand, seemed to be a tad put off by the atmosphere. And so, in the end, it was me against them, and we went to the Cracker Barrel nearby(which was good). Shortly after that, it suddenly struck me as to where I had heard the shouts of the employees before. It all began back when I was but a boy in the spring of 1983. I grew up in Canada, and one day, while I was moose hunting with my parents, I heard two Denny's employees yelling at each other in the distance. I stopped extracting the maple syrup from the moose and listened. My father put his hand on my shoulder and said, "I dag er det bursdagen din. I dag er du en mann. La argumentet til disse to restaurantmedarbeiderne føre deg til voksenlivet."(Today is your birthday. Today you are a man. Let the argument of these two restaurant employees carry you into adulthood.) This was strange, because my father had never spoken Norwegian before. But then he poured the maple syrup onto my head, completing the transition from boy to man, and that was when I knew that the sound of those two Denny's employees screaming at each other would stay with me for the rest of my life. So I suppose it filled me with a sense of nostalgia, hearing something so similar after all these years. But that's enough about me. The experience overall was truly amazing for the short time I was there, and although I never sampled the food, this restaurant touched my heart unlike anything else had in my entire life. 11/10 would recommend. Traveling from Chicago to Memphis, we needed grub. There weren't many options in the area, so we chose Denny's and I'm glad we did. Our food came out fast and hot. It's the same Denny's menu as anywhere else. Our coffee was refilled frequently and our waitress was in a cheery mood. The rest of the staff appeared to be in a good mood as well, something I definitely am not used to at Denny's - although most of my visits were late nights after the bar, when the crowd gets loud and messy, instead of during the breakfast/lunch hour. read more

I have been stopping here for a couple years a couple times a week, because of my work. The service was ok and the food was pretty good. As time has gone by things have change. They are super quick to seat you. And even get your 1st drink. They a are so short handed that the servers not only wait on you but they are hostes, cashier , and busser. Once you place your order you won't see your server until your food arrives. You better get your drink refilled because you won't see her/him again till they fly by and drop you check off. Then you go to pay. That is a whole different story. You and everyone will wait, and wait, and wait till they seat everyone, deliver food, place orders, and clean tables. Then they will come take your money. I think it is time to find a new stopping point. read more

Ordered an omelet and they were very accommodating about switching out ingredients, so I could have exactly what I wanted. My omelet had tomatoes, steak, baby spinach leaves, cheddar cheese, bacon pieces, and sautéed mushrooms and onions. It was huge for 3 eggs and very delicious. I don't like ordering toast at most places, but their's was great with nicely melted butter. Hash browns were pretty good, but just somewhat too greasy. The last time I was here, that wasn't an issue, so it may have been just today. The waitress even brought over a bowl of water for my husband's service dog which was very thoughtful. Then we waited for 35 min for our appetizer then 10 more mins for them to come back and say our ticket got lost in the kitchen. I hope I am posting this on the right Denny's. There are two very close to each other. We ate at the one across from the McDonalds. We were on our way to Nashville and stopped for breakfast. I have to say that this was by far the best service we have received in a chain restaurant in a very long time. Patti was our server and she got our drink and food orders. I ordered a side of fresh fruit which she brought out, but along with that, she brought out another large bowl of fruit for the rest of my family! When bringing out the food, Patti had said that the cook accidentally made me a mistake on my pancakes. She said they could make them and it wasn't a big deal and put them on and have them out shortly. It was very quick and she brought out the other pancakes as well! To start, I was a waitress for 4 years during college. I would give this Denny's zero stars if it was an option. My mother, sister, and I went for a late snack around 10 pm on a Thursday that was not even close to busy. Three waitresses looked at us while we were standing at the door and proceeded to walk in opposite directions instead of seating us. Then a waitress in a winter coat sat us, took our drink order, then told she'd get our food order in a couple minutes and sat down to eat in a booth less than 20 ft away. She sat down at a table across from us to take our order and then later talked to a customer right behind about how she is feeling sick. read more

On a trip to IL to visit family, we stopped in for a quick bite after our flight before heading to our hotel. We were seated by an indifferent hostess and promptly ignored. Though the restaurant was almost empty, no one came to the table even to offer us water or a menu. We looked around in exasperation but couldn't catch the eye of the waitstaff who were busy chatting with each other. After about 15 minutes, we walked out. It was Christmas Day and we waited until the usual lunch hour was over so there wouldn't be a long crowd to deal with. We have eaten here many times so we enjoy the food and service. Every thing was going nicely and we were happy with the meal. Only 4 tables were eating quietly when in came a couple and 5 kids. There were three little boys who started screaming and fighting the minute they arrived and sat behind us. The parents had no control over the offspring nor did they seem to even try. We gave up on our meal and asked for a box to take our half eaten food with us. My stomach was so upset I was almost ill. My husband paid our bill and as I walked passed the zoo animals I said "Thank you for ruining our meal with your unruly children". The mother was on the phone and a teenage idiot looking girl replied in a snotty tone "You're welcome" as I left. What is wrong with people who inflict their badly behaved young on others? I don't think we will return until a manager tells inconsiderate parents to curb their kids or leave. We will look for a place that does so and take our business there plus telling all our friends about it. read more
