I adore Dennis. He is a class act and an enormous talent -- the best in Chicago, hands down. I defy you to find a photographer in Chicago whose work is better than his. We had booked Dennis to photograph our wedding, but about a month later decided to relocate our festivities to Hawaii. The biggest mistake I made in my wedding planning was not paying for airfare and hotel to bring him with us to Hawaii. Dennis was very generous and fair about our deposit and we worked out a deal that involved him taking us on an engagement photo shoot. I now consider these my wedding photos, since they are absolutely incredible and my actual wedding photos don't come anywhere close, at least in terms of photography. In actuality, it was a FRIGID day in May when we took our engagement photos, I was looking a little chubby, my husband was looking a little worn down, and the both of us are incredibly awkward and self-conscious in front of the camera. And yet, in the photos we got back, everything is magical and perfect. We made the photos into a guest book, and also into a thank-you card for our guests. We've gotten rave reviews. Dennis is a gem. We feel lucky to have been able to work with him, and were so glad he was available on our wedding date. I first witnessed Dennis in his element while he shot my friend's wedding. After seeing the way he interacted with the bridal party and the guests, I knew I'd one day want him to be my wedding photographer. We did our research and interviewed other photogs, but once we spoke with Dennis and my fiance met him in person, too, we knew for sure he was our perfect match. Dennis can tell you every emotion going on in every shot he takes. He pays such close attention to the little things, and it pays off in his work. It's incredible how he captures little moments that you didn't even realize he was there for until you see your photos. His photos are stunning, and he really makes it fun to be in front of the camera, without changing anything about the flow of your big day to get a good shot. He's flexible, calm, and super personable. He makes you feel at ease while he's shooting, and encourages you to be as natural as possible and not 'force' shots. He's a true photojournalist, and it's obvious he has a real passion for his job. His photos include creative, artistic shots and bold colors, as well as a lovely use of classic black-and-white images. He also makes sure to capture all the details of your day, too, but not in a cheesy way. We worked with him for our engagement photos, too, and this was a great opportunity to get a little more comfortable being with a photographer in advance of your big day. We absolutely adored our e-pics and had a great time on the shoot. Dennis also has many great ideas for photo locations if you're running short on inspiration. He'll work with you to make sure you get to go to all your important spots, and isn't afraid to try new places. For instance, we were really hoping to take photos at the AMC River East, and thanks to his handiwork, we were able to get all the way up to the top of the theater on a busy weekend. The result was fabulous!! He knows his stuff. And he is worth every cent, especially considering your wedding photos are forever. Dennis and his assistant were our wedding photographers and we were thrilled with their work. They were both very professional and easy to work with up to and the day of the wedding. The price included ownership of our photos which we really liked. A photo album isn't included in the package price but we weren't all that excited about getting one anyway, much preferred the 8 x 10s that were included. Plus the proof books were very nice and 'album' enough for us. We've recommended Dennis once or twice for other functions and everyone has loved him and his work. We'll definitely be calling Dennis the next time we need a photographer (baptism maybe?). read more

I can't say enough good things about Dennis, who I booked as my wedding photog but now also consider a friend. We were THRILLED with how our engagement and wedding photos turned out, and also had a blast with him and his assistant during both shoots! His photojournalistic style captures so much and he has a wonderful eye for unexpected photos. We had a winter wedding so outdoor shots weren't super easy to come by -- no problem, we went into the Mich Ave Apple Store of all places (it sounds weird, but the shots came out UNREAL) as well as downtown Union Station. We were also lucky enough to reconnect a year later when Dennis did a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and had him take some photos of our puppy. We hired Dennis for our wedding and couldn't have been any happier with him, his team and his photos. I have always loved perusing wedding photographers' websites, even before I got engaged. I came across Dennis' site and was instantly drawn to his style. His photos are instantly timeless, classic ... he's a true artist in the way he sees people, light, landscape. His pictures don't need any added "effects" to be beautiful. Beyond his incredible talent for photography, he's so down to earth. You instantly feel comfortable and at ease around him.... which is SO important since the wedding will surely be high stress. He's a calming presence. One of the things about Dennis that impressed us the most is that he attends the wedding rehearsal to get to know the family, meet the VIPs and begin to sense the vibe ahead of time. So, he gives up his Friday afternoons/evenings to begin thinking about your wedding. That's dedication. Our engagement pictures and wedding pictures were BEAUTIFUL! The angles, the light, the moments. Dennis strives to capture the little, yet meaningful moments... the special glances, hugs, etc. Not posed, fake smiles. Dennis is just wonderful - when my husband and I first met him we thought, "what a cool, down to earth guy." We loved his style and we *knew* he would produce beautiful photos - no cheesy poses guaranteed. Dennis shot both our engagement & wedding photos and they truly were beautiful - so classic looking, a few posed group photos, but mostly completely photo-journalistic. Dennis is very thoughtful in his picture taking; he captured so many amazing little moments -bittersweet looks between my parents and I, knowing glances between my siblings and I, and quiet breaks with my husband & I. dennis and his assistant millie were the photographers for our wedding in september and we couldn't have asked for better. when we initially met with him i knew instantly that i wanted him to photograph our day. very easy to talk to, extremely friendly, professional and overall nice guy. he has also worked extensively with sonia roselli (and co.) which was another bonus. if you look at the samples he brings with, you would be hard pressed to find a better journalistic photographer. he takes a good combination of color and b&w photos and captured every moment that we requested and even those we didn't know we wanted. he was also a good sport when we had to take the obligatory "table pictures" during the reception. not the best use of his skills, but they turned out great :) we have received so many comments on our wedding photos and many questions about where they were taken. dennis somehow turned a very well known location (union station) into a mysterious backdrop that stumped many people, in a good way, who saw our pictures. our guests were also very impressed with him. i have never heard wedding guests complimenting a wedding photographer, but many people did after our wedding. we had a very long day with dennis (12+ hrs?) and he never once showed signs of hunger, thirst or fatigue. don't know how he does this, without missing any shots, but am very glad he has these super human capabilities. his services included pre-wedding meetings, services on the day of, an online slideshow after the wedding and DVDs of all the negatives. he also was a fabulous dance instructor for our impromptu father/daughter dance lesson (i owe you dennis!). i'm surprised nobody has reveiwed him yet, but i am extremely glad to be the first. nothing but compliments and raves for dennis and his team. will recommend you highly to others in need of your services :) read more

Dennis was one of the first members of our wedding team we hired, and we couldn't have been happier with him from the get-go. We saw his work in a magazine, and we loved the way he excelled at catching the candid moments and capturing the intimate moments in time. He was very professional throughout the entire process. He was helpful - recommending a make-up artist and videographer, both of which we ended up using. He was friendly - coming to the rehearsal before our wedding to make sure he met all the key players. He was low-key - even when things seemed to getting chaotic or stressful. He was great! The only minor downfalls (and they are VERY minor) - he's not always the most responsive right away via email - but that's because he's busy shooting weddings and events! Totally understandable and he does always get back to you. Second, he's great at the candid moments, but sometimes - during the formal portraits - we wished he had given a little more direction to make sure everyone was standing in the right spot or was looking the same direction. But honestly, I'm sure that's something he would have done had we asked him to - and the photos still came out amazing. read more

I could not have been happier working with Dennis Lee as the photographer for our wedding. I believe it's very important to have a good connection with your photographer on your wedding day - they are the ones who are with you from beginning to end, capture the intimate moments, and create the visual lasting memories for your lifetime. I loved Dennis' style from the moment I met him. He is thoughtful, intelligent, and not too pushy - characteristics that are reflected in his journalistic style of photography, where he was able to capture candid and happy moments throughout the day. Dennis was also very knowledgeable about the best places (both indoor and outdoor) around downtown Chicago to take our photos. He and his assistant did a great job directing us in our First Look photos, while encouraging us to act casually and be natural with each other. Our ceremony venue had some unique restrictions on where photos could be taken, and they did a great job accommodating those restrictions while still capturing the key ceremony moments. During the reception, I have to say that I didn't even notice them, yet we ended up with hundreds of beautiful photos! From a business perspective, I really liked the photography package options that Dennis offered. I didn't feel over-sold on products or services (which I did with other photographers), and Dennis worked with us to find the right arrangement - for example, he usually includes a 2 hour engagement photo session with his packages, but since we weren't doing engagement photos, he allowed us to apply that 2 hour credit to our wedding day instead. I also love that we received a flash drive with all of the original photo files. He also attended our rehearsal to meet our bridal party and see the venue the day beforehand, which not all photographers would have done. He also got rave reviews (both on his professionalism and his photography) from our friends and family. Dennis is an amazing photographer!! We were so happy with how our pictures turned out!! Just looking at his website, we could tell how unique the pictures were and how he really captured the moment. He was one of three photographers that we met with and we really felt like he would be best for our day. We took our engagement pictures in the summer and we very happy with them. We went around the city for hours and got a lot of great shots. I loved that Dennis came to our rehearsal and knew who all of our close family was. I can tell that he was really attentive because there many pictures of them from our wedding day! Instead of posed pictures (though we did take some) most of our pictures are just about the day. You barely knew he (or his assistant who we loved too!) was there but our whole day is in pictures which is such great memories for us! A major bonus is that we have the rights to all our pictures (which he sends you on a cd). Also we got our pictures about a month or so after the wedding which I think is really quick! Dennis is also just a really nice guy who was so helpful with everything! Any question/request we had before or during the wedding he was more than happy to answer or take care of for us.
