I can honestly say that I have never had a worse experience with a doctor than I did with Doctor D'onofrio.
I called Dr. D'onofrio's office to make an appointment for a painful condition, one which two doctors, both of whom I trust, told me they had never seen before. When I made the appointment the receptionist said that the doctor spends an hour with every new patient, which ended up being 57 minutes longer than my visit. That's right; I saw the doctor for about three minutes. After a forty minute wait.
My chart hung on the wall next to my room. I heard him grab the chart, walk away, and return about a minute later. In that minute, he "diagnosed" my condition and grabbed an information packet about it (one which was written by a veterinarian). When he came into the room he had clearly decided what was wrong with me...before even meeting me.
When he sat down I tried to show him the problem, and even pulled out pictures of what my toes looked like at different stages of the condition. He chuckled at the poor quality of the pictures. He never looked at my feet closely, and never touched them. He asked if I was, or had been, in pain. I explained that the pain was so intense that I had difficulty walking and could not sleep. There were signs that the condition was worsening, and that I would be in even more pain very soon. He just nodded and never addressed it again. He told me that there was nothing I could do other than what I had been doing (basically wearing socks). When I asked if my problem was caused by any specific event, he said "you people always ask if there was one event that caused this." Yes, he said "you people".
I expect that many people have similar experiences. There are two doctors in the practice but several examination rooms (at least five). Each room had someone in it, even though only one doctor was an duty. Five patients at once? I quickly made an appointment with another doctor, one who could not possibly be as ineffective and rude as Dr. D'onofrio. read more
