He sounded sick. A lot of chest congestion and I didn't feel comfortable being around him. Next day he was in bad shape, needed quite a few rest breaks.I hired him to replace pergola and deck boards, power wash and stain. Missed some areas of the pergola with the power wash and asked about any other boards that needed replacement. He didn't act on that. Power wash on pergola was inadequate and left a lot of paint chips coming off on the deck. Anything above the estimate on the deck, The charge was a little excessive. Asked about sanding, he kept on evading the subject and just carried on with the staining. Didn't really give me a choice of stain. Says he uses brown on older decks. Not happy with the color.Noticed an additional board on the pergola that needed replacing after payment and asked if he would come back for that. Again, evading the issue. Finally told me he was not going to come back. I found his work to be inadequate at best. I'm sorry I hired him for my job and need to hire somebody else to address the issues.

I chose S&J and within a few days, I had a date for installation of my fence (with 3 different heights) and two gates. This was all going to be done in one day (and it was a blistering hot day too!). The crew arrived on time and immediately began work on demolishing the old fence and then digging posts and construction of the new fence. It took all day, but by 5pm they were finished! The finished work was very good, they did not seem to cut any corners and really took the time to do things right. My favorite part of this transaction was speaking to Jasmine who works the front office/phone calls. Plus as an added bonus MS Construction told us that the gazebo we ordered was a high quality brand. After years of assembling gazebos, they know the high quality from the not so high quality brands. The team he sent were Dennis and Mark and let me tell you they did amazing work! They were both very careful and thorough in their high quality work of assembling the huge gazebo! I apologize for this late review. I hired G&G summer of 2025 to build a 15x22 PVC deck to replace a…read more9x12 redwood deck that was built in 1995. They did a great job and we are very happy with the new deck. I was on a tight time schedule to get the new concrete patio and walkway, and then the deck, done before hosting a celebration of life for my best friend. Gary explained the challenges associated with such a tight schedule (so much so I had to ask if he was trying to talk himself out of a job) which I understood. However, he made an effort to include some weekend/OT work ahead of time to make it happen, and for that he is well respected. It has been a year and the product is holding up well and looks great. In hindsight I would have rather gone with darker, medium brown rather than the light color because of muddy dog prints, but it is still awesome. Gary insisted they will be available and responsive if I have any issues or small repairs going forward. This was a primary factor in hiring G&G so I will update the review when that time comes. I highly recommend G&G Decking and would work with them again.
