If you want a mega-sized supermarket then this is the one closest to town centre. It has little variety of products. Mostly just own brands. In the evening especially, you wil find it difficult to get around the store because most passages will be blocked with piles of boxes and carts. Asda, being a generally fairly good value chain, usually is full of good offers. This particular store just feels more pricey, possibly for the lack of choice.

The george here is good and often has sales to make the clothes even cheaper that usual, they have a full range of their electrical stuff as well as dvds, books and cds. I woudlnt be getting the fresh fruit and veg from here as they tend not to have a long shelf life The meal deals here are good as they have a large range of chinese and vegetarian food. They do have a space in the chiller where the sale items where the date is almost up and they usually have some really good offers here

What has prompted this review is their mouth watering and delicious rhubarb and custard macaroons that I only discovered last week.....so good that they drew me back every day without fail! If you're a newbie to the French Oven it can be difficult to peruse their selection as it does get pretty busy along the counter but the staff are always more than happy to help and the queue is a reflection of the high quality and fresh food on offer. They also deliver if you want time to consider your order online or buy in bulk. I would highly recommend their macaroons as they are by far the best I've tasted outside of Paris itself! I also tend to favour the sourdough bread or focaccia - so flavoursome and light. Although not a frequent pasty fiend I have sampled their chilli con carne pasty when I was looking for convenience food and it was very tasty although perhaps could have had a bit more filling. As you would really, it being a bread shop :-) Anyway, the lady behind the counter was very helpful, and described the bread that was on the back shelves, and I selected a mixed grain. Sitting infont of her on the counter was an interesting dark brown round loaf, with some bright pink bits showing through. She said it was Prawn and something!!! I nearly choked! She said "It's been really popular today and this is the only one left!" I decided I may need to gird my loins a bit more before delving into the dark art of baking to that extreme. I asked if she had a list of the bread they do, and she handed me a Qype card! Whoo hoo for promoting Qype! Not so hot on getting me more info on produce sadly. Maybe a blackboard somewhere with "FreshToday" written on it and a list of bread and cakes available as well as the specials of the day would be very useful I feel. The bread was lovely!

The Lunch Box offer a huge range of sandwich fillings on a wide variety of breads and buns, to cater for all tastes. The most popular sandwiches are prepared before lunch and packaged up ready to buy... if you don't see one you like or have particular requirements, the friendly staff have no problems making one up to order. They also offer jacket potatoes, soup, salads, Indian snacks, crisps, hot and cold drinks and my favourite, a range of homebaked cakes and flapjacks. I can honestly say, that in 19 years I have not had a bad sandwich from The Lunch Box.
