I just don't get this place? It's hard to miss on Church St in Brighton and has a huge indoor/outdoor setting where you have a hope that it's going to be good. There a bad colours and lighting inside though where it's reminiscent of an American Diner. Are they going for this feel? It's not a cafe really, it's not really a restaurant either and it's not really a bar? What is it? I'm not too sure but the menu is massive trying to appeal to too many different types of people or occasions where it being open really late doesn't appeal to me at all. It's too expensive and there is no life in there so I think most people walk away confused and unsure what reason they sat down. read more

It's a 3.8 on the old scale. Had a toasted focaccia with smashed avo, pesto and two poached eggs. It was delicious. The coffee was very nice. We shared French vanilla slice which was really yummy too. Nice place. They know what they're doing here. read more

Great place for coffee and cake before or after the movie at the Dendy Brighton nearby. I have been coming here for years and staff know me (is that a good thing?). Great range of cakes and a large variety of meals if you are looking for something more substantial. There are booths along the walls for groups (up to ten really close friends), tables for two and four inside and out, and an area out the back. Table service (though out the back is out of sight of the main area so you will need to attract attention). This is a 'casual' cafe - if you are looking for 'silver service' then this being Brighton there are lots of other establishments in the area (with the price tags to match). read more

Service was great.... the parma was seriously just a snitzel with cheese and not very big, tasted good though. Bolognase was lackluster in sauce but tasted amazing. Carbonara was good. I don't know why we bothered.... staff seemed so unhappy I should of know it would be bad. Bruschetta wasn't toasted and so soggy, my side salad was old coleslaw. The service is very slow. There is no service at all when you sit outside for dinner. We waited~10 minutes just for a cup of coffee and some potato wedges. There are better placed to spend your money. read more

Aggressively boring. Dendy deli is abysmally daggy. trapped in a time warp from the early 1980's, there's nothing bad about dendy deli, per-se, but nothing much good either. Food offerings are very much 'meh' and the sort of stock standard filler that you would find in most places. The prices however won't rip your wallet open. It's an old dated space, but then so too is the rest of the dendy complex. For some people this a good thing, as, granted, dendy deli is not too pretentious. it just seems a little tired. read more

I don't often leave reviews but when looking up the opening hours of dendy deli could not help but notice the mediocre reviews. It's not a wanky Brighton restaurant but a down to earth food establishment. I've never had an issue with any of the staff, the food comes quickly, whats supposed to be hot is hot and whats supposed to be cold is cold. It isn't the cheapest place I've ever been but the meals are large (and I eat a lot!!) The calamari is especially yummy, pasta is also a good choice! Avoid the souvlaki though, as it's simply average, not the worst I've had though. I was especially impressed with my last visit (was a Monday night I believe) with the waiter that served us outside, very polite, well groomed and super efficient. Recommend this place for a decently priced meal with a warm casual feel, good for a glass of wine and snack with the girlfriends! (alternatively they DO know how to make a chocolate milkshake!) read more
