The restaurant was opened by a sister and brother. She is the chef and he is mainly responsible for the dishes and service. The work gratvaerk is very northern Jutland and very much slang. They are going for "lick your plate good food". They got it. We have a small thing from the kitchen for starters with a small lobster bisque, and a small meshed potato ball. The mashed potatoes was made with half milk and half cream with a little cod. Wow really tasty. The first course was beef tartar with dried and recooked red beets. The dish came with a bit of leek mayonnaise. Wonderful presentation and very tasty. The main course was beef curvet with 5 different variations of onions. Again a perfect presentation and very tasty. The beef was presented as medium/medium rare. The dessert was a variation of sorbet and ice from blackberries with black chocolate with almonds and raisins with oat crumble. The food was absolutely fantastic. As we went on a Sunday they had only the prefix menu. The price per person was only $35 which is a fantastic menu for that price. If you are in Frederikshavn please go see them.

The dishes rival any courses you would receive in a fine dining. The chef/owners are accessible often mingling with the guests between courses. The 24-seat restaurant is quite "hyggelig" (cozy). We came on Sunday which is prixe fix menu. The four course meal was absolutely delicious. We can't wait to come back.

After being seated we were thrown menus and we waited again waited for someone to come to the table. After eating about 15 minutes, another couple was seated next to us. And we waited. Then they came and took the order for the couple that arrived much after us. So we waited. Finally I got up and asked if there was anyone to serve our table and explained the situation. This person was very apologetic, but it did t make up for the fact that we were hungry. I give 1 star because the food was good.

Unfortunately acoustics is a bit of a challenge, but overall a great place We had a mixture of burgers, seafood pasta and "star shoot" courses primarily from the light dinner menu. All the courses were well prepared and very tasty. We had a Sauvignon blanc from Marlborough with the dish. Very fruity and a great complement to the dish. This is a great addition to the restaurant scene in Frederikshavn and wonderful for date night, casual dinners or just an excuse to go out.

There was a little mixup with my meal (to be explained below) but everything worked out totally fine. For starters, my lack of Danish made reading and understanding the menu pretty darn difficult, so I was reassured by my very patient waitress as she helped to translate it until I found a vegetarian/fish dish. Per her recommendation, I decided on the pumpkin soup and salmon smorrebrød. When the soup came out, I took one bite and realized it was NOT pumpkin soup. It was some sort of meat soup. I sat for a while twiddling my thumbs, wishing I had a bottle of wine rather than one glass, wondering if I should just respectfully eat it and deal with the stomach ache that would potentially follow, or if I should continue my role as the obnoxious American and send it back. Due to my immense fear of vomit I opted for the latter. When I asked if it had meat, the food runner sort of chuckled. I thought: "Ok yes sir, I know there are hunks of animal flesh in there I just don't know how to navigate this situation." I felt really bad but I could tell he did too. He apologized profusely for the mixup and brought out my pumpkin soup (sidebar: the soup came out in a Mini saucepan. How cute). When the pumpkin soup came out I devoured it....aaand it ended up being free! I don't have any photos from the meal because I was truly enjoying my first TRUE solo sit-down, multi-course meal.
