People were inside working but I know they noticed me as one of them looked at me, but decided to wait a minute to actually say anything, and it was in short sentences. He called another guy This guy was right to the point and professional, and the wait was nothing. I wish they had wifi, but not a big deal nor contributing factor to score. I asked about taking pics for this review...they pointed me to a guy outside taking down the special sign (this was an hour before they closed ) so I asked him to tkae come pics of the garage for the review. Very curtly he said no and pretty much ignored me after that, which it did put me off, as all I wanted to do was to make this profile. I guess I am venting but it IS a new biz and he could have been more tactful. The other thing was....my buddy was running late so he asked me to call what time it closed. I thought 5 but called and the person on the other end had told me that they were closed. He also said the price I paid for the oil change was going to be the nirmal price, unless I misunderstood, and I don't think I did. After calling my friend up he told me he had also called and said that they were open still. Whatever. I did like the fact (according to the signage on the wall) that 2 pumps were handicap/elderly full service pumps. Pump 7 doesn't dispense gas all the time when the handle is pressed and requires you to hit the buttons hard. When it was snowing, the sidewalk and driveway wasn't shoveled, creating a huge slip hazard. The only good thing about this place is the air gauge. While its $2, It's digital and comes with a PSI reader and gauge so it saves you from having to own one.

In my defense, this BP had much clearer instructions on how to use those points, and even a sticker telling you where to start in order to use points, so that's helpful. Now I know how to do it at other BP stations. For others whom it may help, you click Cancel on the touchscreen, NOT the Cancel button on the physical keypad. I think that was my mistake. Since I joined the Mariano's Boost delivery program, I got 1,000 fuel points and because they don't want to be TOO generous they expire the month after they are obtained, which means I have to use them all by the end of September. Stopping here allowed me to use them all and I got $1 off per gallon. I'm glad about that but I'm also wishing I wasn't so close to running out of gas (I was at about five miles remaining in the tank so it was an emergency) because since this station is so close to the freeway they can charge a bit of a premium, and a mile or so down the road (a BP, even) was about 25 cents per gallon cheaper.

It turns out there is a minimum and modest 5 gallon purchase for a free car wash. I gave the free car wash a try and it was valued at $14 and it was a modern and effective no-touch car wash. For a Shell station, I'm now a fan, and they have always had a great corner location for all that east bound traffic on Dempster St. The couple attending the counter today were fine folks also.

If you don't have the time, BP does in a pinch. It would seem that the tiny garage at this BP is set up to do minor repairs to your vehicle, and perhaps oil changes. I have used BP for their air pump, and they will lend you a pressure gauge if you need one. One time my ex-boyfriend's Mustang broke down and they allowed him to leave his car in that garage while he sorted out towing arrangements. I think he might have actually fixed his own car and went to get parts for it. Bottom line, the attendants here are always courteous.

This Mobil also offers a car wash station which is touch-less and purchase of any of three wash styles ($5 - $7) will garner you a discount on the price of gas. For example the other day a gallon of unleaded fuel cost $4.22 and with a car wash purchase the gas price was reduced to $4.02. For a touch-less wash it is decent even at the $5 dollar price. After two days and a couple downpours my wash is still streak free and looking smart. If you shop at Dominick's for your grocery needs you may have heard they have recently partnered with Mobil to offer discounts on gas because of credits earned buying groceries. An example of the fuel discount would be to receive ten cents off per gallon on your next gas purchase. Something which is not noted (or explained properly) by staff or on marketing at the gas station is that once you decide to use your credits off gas (Dominick's card) this price reduction cannot be used in conjunction with the car wash special. It's one or the other. (Makes sense in your head, two offers cannot be used together but when swiping your Dominick's loyalty card and then making gas payments at the pump it's easy to not realize this since the antiquated system at the pump gives minimum details. )
