Outstanding pragmatic approach to teaching style, with great capacity to articulate instruction that is immediately applicable out on the water. They were very attentive to safety measures, and given the significant risky nature of the sport, that is much appreciated. I was so glad to take my training to the next level, and look forward to further instruction next Spring, and perhaps, lifelong collegial friendships with these outstanding instructors. We were disappointed that we didn't catch anything, but that wasn't Barry's fault... though we were surprised that there were no bait changes when we were at the same spot, and were a little concerned with the amount of WD 40 on the reels. That said though, even without the bait changes, it was a fun, relaxing trip, at a reasonable cost. Barry took care of us, and made sure everything, including payment, was simple as can be.

All you have to do is come with some great friends and pack a lunch and Barry takes care of the rest. He provides the boat, the fishing poles, etc. He teaches you what to do and makes it very easy. When you pull in the fish he takes care of it. At the end of the trip Barry cleans the fish for you to take home. I wish I could give Barry 10 stars because that is how much fun we had. The only thing you have to remember is that if you get sea sick bring the dramamine.

We had some good and bad experiences here. The place is beautiful and clean. Most of the…read moreinstructors are nice and helpful. But there is one instructor who obviously does not want to be there and she makes it uncomfortable for the kids and the parents. We tried to brush it off but it was affecting our kids learning and they dreaded when she was the instructor. Why pay for someone who doesn't want to teach your kids and makes them uncomfortable? Communication was always an issue as well. Several times there were scheduling issues. We appreciate what our kids learned but there also wasn't any new skills being taught, each lesson was repetitive even after years. While we really liked some of the instructors we felt it was best to leave and find somewhere where our kids felt comfortable.

He was so friendly, went through a bunch of options that we had and just chatted about the area. My dog doesn't get along with strangers so I was shocked when he didn't have any issues with James. James was patient with him and my dog ended up trying to shake his hand unprompted (which is so rare for him!). My dog was hesitant to get in the water and was nervous but James got into the water to play with him! It was so sweet and you can tell James loves Discovery Bay, what he does and it's just so great being around positive people. If you're looking for a captained cruise, look no further!

He explained things so I understood the why and the how of flying kites and riding the board. I learned so much the other instructors I took lessons from at another Bay Area school didn't bother to teach me or explain to me. Nat has me riding comfortably and I feel confident I can be on my own in almost any location kiting and know what to do and not to do. Great times and so fun I'm glad I drove to Sherman to finish my lessons with him and got out of the Bay.

I know the Delta is grody, but I don't care. I spent so much of my childhood tubing, waterskiing, &…read morewake boarding out here that I can't help but love it. Most people never venture more than a mile off the Main Channel, but you'll be rewarded if you explore. We have a couple go-to spots that are never busy even on a 110 degree Saturday during the summer & always have prime glass for skiing. I've gotten sick after wiping out & swallowing a mouthful of water, so I recommend bringing a bottle of Pepto for said wipe outs. Gross? You betcha, but even with this yuck factor, I still love the Delta. People are super friendly out here- always saying hi & waving. I'm not sure why, but even the most callous, hardened jerks will begin smiling once the boat is cruising along & the breeze is whipping through their hair. I think it's because the Delta has magical qualities :)
