A blast from the past! There aren't too many camera shops like this around these days, and I loved walking into Jim's shop right here in Delray Beach. This is a real camera store that deals with film! There's a bunch of vintage cameras and probably new ones for sale, but the real treasure here is Jim. He's a photographer that knows about photography and film. They developed a roll of film for me in a timely manner. Turns out Jim is a long-time resident of Delray Beach, it was nice to talk to him about the changes in town over the years... the kind of relationship you had with local shopkeepers in days of old. read more

My daughter took a trip to DC with her class recently and in old school fashion, the staff banned cell phones on the excursions. They told the kids to get disposable cameras instead. So 90's! Totally loved the idea. You know what I didn't like? Finding a place to develop the pics! Man I looked high and low and could not find a single place in Boca that developed disposable cameras. There were a few that I saw that you could mail the camera away to, but I wanted something local. That's when I came across Delray Camera and Studio. The staff was pretty cool, they walked me through the entire process and answered all my questions. It was a little bit expensive and actually the photo quality stunk, but that wasn't their fault it was the crappy camera and my kid's unsteady hands. Overall though they got the job done and the price was reasonable, maybe a little bit high for what you're getting. Overall I would give these nice people four stars and definitely come back again if I was ever in need of photo development. read more

I stopped by this camera shop on a Thursday afternoon. I had a Pentex 35 mm camera that I got new old stock, but I needed a strap for it. I told the gentleman and he showed me that he had a strap it's for a Canon camera, but he said it would fit. I wasn't sure how to put it on so he was very nice and spent about five minutes winding the strap through the post and making it right. I'm not too good at that type of thing so I'm glad he did it. I also bought three rolls of fresh Fujifilm. I inquired about a canon digital camera, but he said they don't come in very often. It's a very good model and not too expensive. It's really nice to be able to get this personal service at a small business like this. They had lots of interesting vintage cameras for sale as well as new digital cameras Everyone is always pointing their phones and everything. It's much nicer to use a real digital or a film camera. I definitely would recommend coming here if you need to buy a vintage camera or a 35 mm camera any accessories that you would need film of course read more

The worst! I bought a camera for a safari vacation. The camera didn't work properly and ruined the vacation for me. They showed no empathy for what I went through and just sent the camera back to the manufacturer for repair. I wanted a new camera rather than getting it fixed (the camera was brand new). They could care less and did nothing to help me achieve that goal. Will never buy from them again. read more

Brought my Pentax k1000 in after years of not using it due to a jam of sorts and the guy working (so sorry I didn't get his name) fixed it in under 5 minutes, got me set up with new film and taught me how to use the camera a bit as I'm a rookie. I talked to Chris on the phone and met Tom in person. Due to the Covid situation they are doing a drive-through window. He took time to look at my camera to see if it was in good working order and made some suggestions. They still offer an analog film development for $8.95. They use a service that pick's up film twice a week. It was nice to have someone help me without the expectation that I had to spend money. People interested in what they are doing! Delray Camera Shop is iconic for many reasons. First of all, the building is one of the most historical still untouched and in a great downtown location #PineappleGrove #east #Delray--with a huge parking lot. It is vintage old-school with modern technology. Thanks to James Greene, he took several head shots and made me feel comfortable. Then, he used photoshop to edit them. The entire process took less than an hour. He emailed me the digital versions within a few hours. What a great value and quality photographs. I know these guys well. It is one of downtown Delray's oldest locally owned businesses. The guys there are very personable. They answer any questions a customer might have concerning photography, without making the customer feel like they're being hurried along. Since they're all professional photographers, some working, some retired, everyone on the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Over the years I've learned a lot about photography from them. They're authorized Nikon and Leica dealers, and they also sell Fuji and Olympus compact digital cameras. You can also find lenses, darkroom supplies, tripods, lots of camera bags, studio equipment, and a wide assortment of other camera do-dads. They also have one of the largest selections of binoculars, if not the largest, in south Florida. read more

Was in the market for a new-ish digital camera, and I haven't chosen a camera since 2000. The gentleman there was SO helpful, without making me feel uninformed at all. Most definitely a fellow artist. I'll be using him to get any and all new gear, even though I will be out of state. Bravo for a great bricks and mortar shop. Had my Nikon sensor cleaned here. It took one day. They were supposed to call when it was ready but never did. They sell items on consignment there but their website is lacking in so many ways. They should list these items there. All it gives is their address and phone number. read more

These guys are old and slow. They love to keep people waiting while they talk to "customers" about nothing relevant to photography. Their prices on film are outrageous and if i wasn't in an emergency to purchase film i would of never gave them my business. I bought kodak ektar 120 for $6.50 (which was there commercial rate) when you can buy the same roll of film anywhere else for $4.00-4.50. read more

This is a solid little place at the beach that still accommodates us film enthusiasts. I've been going here for a few years now and its the same helpful, knowledgable group of guys that I like to talk photography and do business with. Ive bought and sold here and they're honest and fare. For what its worth, I live in Miami Beach now but still go back to Delray Camera to get my film and stuff there. I recently had an issue with a micro sd card that had become corrupt. I called them and they said they had a person on staff who dealt with those types of things. I left the card and a couple of days they called me. They said they tried everything but unfortunately they were unable to recover the video files. I arrived at the shop and they gave me the sd card back and told me there was no charge. I offered again to pay (as I know how time consuming data recovery can be...) but they refused. Yesterday was my first time there. Great service. Very friendly and helpful. Had a problem with my digital SLR Nikon, and the batteries holding charge. Went there upon a photographer friend's recommendation. The place reminded me of other places that were around more down south in south Florida "back in a day" when you could find an actual camera shop that was not a commercial electronic chain with no expertise.
