Nobody sketchy here either. Its all friendly people either walking with their dogs or kids. There were two loop trails past the off-leash dog park. That park is near the south entrance and is huge enough for your small or little doggos to run around in. You can continue going and there are two loop trails to choose from. You go left and there is a dip, you go straight and its an incline. My dog felt nervous going down and decided to go on the incline. We sadly didnt finish the trail because i was running out of time, but i do believe these trails are a bit long. Overall, i would love to continue taking my dog here. I was thinking of taking my scooter to run this trail but decided to walk... which was a good decision even towards the end when it started sleeting and raining. I didn't want to put my scooter through that. This trail takes you through a wooded area and during the fall it's beautiful. Granted I was here in late fall but still really liked it. I imagine it's beautiful all year round. There were squirrels that I spotted and they seemed friendly and even a few painted rocks that were hidden. I haven't seen this many since Tacoma's heyday with the painted rocks craze but it's alive and well in Puyallup despite Tacoma burning itself out on it. There are several memorial benches and regular ones you can rest at. There's also a playground on the south end of the trailed park I had a great outing on this trail, definitely recommend it.

Lots of trees in the area so it's pretty easy to choose a time that'll keep you in the shade. Some green space, but it's pretty slanted so it's not good for any sort of sports. This is the place to park near if you want to go through the natural area. The trails in the natural area are very well maintained and pleasant to walk on. This area is apparently salmon bearing, but I'm really questioning how they get though as some of the areas I saw looked completely blocked with debris from a fishy standpoint. I suppose time will tell? If the salmon do come through this area, it's definitely a great place to get a close look! Trail had some muddy areas, but overall it wasn't too bad. Great area in a great neighborhood!

This property is pretty big. We GPSed to the north entry of the park not realizing how far the south was. We started at the big north playground which my kids loved. Huge wooden play structures with lots to climb on, and there's an awesome bike/scooter track which we will definitely be back to visit. There's lots of trails to explore too! If our kids were a little older we probably would've walked the trails to the south part of the park, but we were unsure how long that would take with our youngest so we decided to drive. It was about 5 minutes away, so probably was a good call. The south playground is much smaller but my kids still enjoyed it. There's swings, a little excavation toy, and two huge slides that my kids went down a ton of times. There's also a picnic table right near the playground which was the perfect spot for lunch time. So glad that we got to check out this park and it'll definitely be added to our summer rotation.

Ward Lake Park has more potential than what it has achieved at this point. I felt like the most…read morescenic part of this park was from the parking lot where you can walk to one tip of the lake. It had geese and a crain that we admired as well as three different colors of dragonflies flying around on a pier. There are lots of trails that go into the wooded areas and the three or four loops that all interconnected are fun to walk on. As you continue on one particular trail past the loops in the direction of the interstate things get more uncomfortable and less scenic. On the path that goes in this direction, the lake path I believe it is called goes through an asphalt paved circle that has since become overgrown. Around here and past that we encountered homeless people and there was rubbish all over the place back there . There were several paths that started from the asphalt area and the brush was not cut back as much so that was another reason if we wanted to go further. Not only that but Ward Lake isn't quite as pretty here like how it is by the parking because the surface of the lake has moss or algae growing on top of it and you don't get to see much of the lake itself at that point because of this. So if you decide to do Ward Lake I'd suggest to stay close to the parking lot and enjoy the lake from that end and don't go too far on the path designated as the Lake Path.

I definitely feel this is one of the pleasantly lengthy and well maintained bike and walking trails…read morein the University Place and Tacoma area. There are a few others I feel that are of this good of quality but notable exceptions would be the walking paths at Ruston Way, Cushman Trail (in Gig Harbor) and maybe a trail in Orting, WA which I have yet to go to. I am focusing on the surface of the trails because a lot of Tacoma trails have pretty significant bumps and upheavals in the path caused by roots, frost and time. And seeing them neglected is a bit sad and possible hazards. The views while walking the trail are breathtaking in which you can see the Olympic Mountains, neighboring islands and Puget Sound as well as different angles of the park in which you can get in great views of the concrete structures on one side of the park and the golf course. Definitely a trail I recommend taking if you are into scouting out bike and walking trails and don't mind going up tall hills and a giving up some time to do the loop. This trail is pretty popular as ts in the summer lots of people use it and I can easily understand why.
