I had a coffee here the other day, and was left wondering whether the 'caffé' in this pizzeria's name was actually a misspelling of the word 'café' rather than a reference to it serving genuine Italian coffee. In short, it was a perfectly acceptable caffeine hit but nothing spectacular. The food fared a little better, and the pizza I had was tasty, generous and well priced, although my friend's burger warranted less glowing praise. Mezmez feels like it's trying hard to be a proper Italian establishment, but it commits the common crime of feeling like it has to offer other dishes too, and it's the inferior quality of these that lets the whole side down. That, and the coffee. A better choice than many of the cafes and takeaways in the area, but it will have to do better to compete with the mighty Box up the road. read more
