The Biltmore Bar & Grill - Truly awesome steak: the petit chateau with Guinness and soy reduction

I imagine it's even better at night. The cocktails were very pricey but absolutely perfect in every way. I didn't enjoy the food I ordered , the beef tartare, but that was purely because I didn't realise that it was going to be raw meat and it disturbed me somewhat! I would highly recommend this place but make sure you've got plenty of money to spare.

Take their Freaky Music Friday's for example which is a total must if, like me, you love a really good dance off. I stumbled in here with two work colleagues on a bitterly cold sleepy Wednesday night. I confess mostly I was happy to get out of the cold but I was ultimately lured in by the Wednesday's Half Price Steak night. We were not disappointed. I'm not so bothered by décor as I'll take good food over posh wallpaper any day, but if it's your thang then this place is very nicely styled. We quickly skimmed over the excessively priced wine list, selected a discounted Happy Hour bottle of Malbec and headed straight to the decent choice of cut price steak list. Overall I can't begin to recommend highly enough: 1. The steak - probably one of the best I have ever had, so tender, melt in the mouth tasty and a total bargain £17.00 for their 300g petit chateau (that's the best cut from the middle of a fillet btw) 2. The amazing Guinness and Soya reduction. It was a tough call to divert my attention away from the amazingly sublime smokey peppercorn I'd chosen but I couldn't resist dipping into my colleagues more than a few times after the first taste! 3. The service. Superbly attentive, perhaps a little too keen but it was a quiet night 4, The Happy Hour half priced bottle of Malbec and bargain steaks. We were unanimous in our 'too stuffed for desert or coffee' verdict so I can't comment on anything else on the menu on this occasion but I am persuaded enough to come back here again and not just to swing my booty about on a Freaky Friday Dance night. 10/10 Biltmore Bar & Grill.

The menu…read moreis fantastic and their chef and kitchen staff are obviously well versed in creating tasty dishes. A fantastic setting along the river front with outdoor seating that is perfect for those sunny days and plenty of indoor seating with great views for those colder days. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. For those who enjoy a drink, their interpretations of the classics as well as their abundant stock of wine, beer and liquor choices is impressive. Finally their breakfast is probably the best deal in town and includes bottomless cups of filter coffee!

Inside, it's all very stripped flooring (watch out for the step between the bar and the main area, it's not that obvious!) and large, lounging chairs. I can imagine everything getting a bit 'sticky' in the evenings, especially as I believe this is the same Missoula as we have on Deansgate Locks in Manchester? Happy to be told otherwise... We only stayed for one, sat outside to be serenaded by the many geese that seemed to be around that day. We considered staying for food but felt like exploring the city more, though I would come back on my next visit.

Part of the successful chain of restaurants and nightclubs, Bury's Chicago Rock is a fun place,…read morewhether you're after decent food, a bop to some cheesy tunes, or just a decent cheap drink. By day, Chicago Rock provides a decent menu, similar in scope to that offered by similar chains such as Frankie and Bennies or TGI Fridays. Main courses range around the 8-12 pound mark, and the portions are sizeable - you shouldn't leave feeling hungry! As with these other chains, the serving staff are all about tips and can be a bit in your face, but that's not a bad thing - you'll get all the attention you need, and shouldn't be left hanging round between courses. Starters and desserts are also plentiful and recommended, from garlic bread and appetising meat dishes, to luxury ice cream sundaes and good portions of cakes, there's something for everyone. By night, Chicagos comes alive with the DJ and dancefloor. The bar usually has good promotional offers, such as 2 for 1 on certain drinks, or free drinks between certain times. These attract a wide range of people, from students after a fun night, to older types who might just fancy letting their hair down. The music tends to be a mix of chart music and cheesy dance stuff, with the odd bit of rock and roll, disco and rock thrown in - something for all. The place is quieter in recent months than in its heyday, but it's a decent and generally trouble-free environment. Stag and hen parties usually end up here, and it's often fun to watch the singles prowling ;-)
