On Isla Mujeres and getting tired of tacos and bachos?…read more The Sunset grill has a more European menu. Not a taco in sight. Felipe is a great chef, and his wife Margarete a very good pastry chef. And they are both very pleasant people. Dinner can be eaten on the patio overlooking the water. Felipe's Grouper Omah(his mother's recipe) is delicious, as are the coconut shrimp (huge, best on the island) and various other things on the menu. Margarete's chocolate cake is divine. Good wines. All this at a every reasonable price. And when the taxi did not show up, Felipe drove us back to our hotel. Gracias, Felipe. A la Proxima. Peter R.

I believe they offer seating right on the sand during the busy season--I'd recommend reaching out to the restaurant to confirm. That said, they were happy to rearrange a couple of tables for us to give us a better view, which was so thoughtful! Felipe and Margarita were incredibly warm and welcoming, and the fact that they speak English was a huge plus for me since my Spanish is limited. The Spanish Sangria was refreshing and a delightful change from what I'm used to--highly recommend it! We started with the Mixed Ceviche (Fish & Shrimp), which featured fresh pear slices--a pleasant surprise that took it to the next level. I almost didn't want to share it! The guys had the Beef Tenderloin, served with a to-die-for mushroom gravy and cooked to perfection. The Brisket was a surprising standout--possibly the best I've ever had! Both dishes came with fresh veggies and mashed potatoes, all expertly prepared. We ended the evening with their homemade Banana Cake and an Ice Cream Boat--the perfect sweet finish to a fantastic meal. Reasonably priced and such a wonderful experience. We will definitely return on our next trip to the island. Highly recommend!

Good selection of fruits and vegetables - we love the guavas, mangos, and carrots the most! They taste so fresh and more flavorful than what we get in the US. Decent selection of meat, dairy, snacks, cereal, etc too! They have a bakery (with fresh tortillas), pharmacy, a touristy area (bathing suits, shirts, souvenirs, etc), and an area that has prepped food items. They also have a decent alcohol/beer area. Prices are way better than what they charge at the hotel (though you're likely paying for convenience there). Highly recommend this treat to pick up items! This is on the top floor of a shopping mall, though the mall itself has few store these days.

It's located in a shopping mall that seems to be having some occupancy issues, but has an absolutely beautiful atrium, with a decorated dome, fountains- It's amazing! The shopping is a bit rough- it's not exactly the cheapest place to shop in Mexico. It's not the most expensive- that honor seems to belong to the other grocery up the road a mile or two and the Cancun Pointe. The aisles are a bit jammed together, and they certainly cater to the gringo tourista. They have new swimsuits, hats, sunglasses, plenty of cerveza, tequila, mixers, and food. A bakery section offers pan dulces and a variety of things to make sandwiches with. There's a bunch of bottled water, and everything you need to feel at home. I kinda don't care for how they seem to organize this place- whatever they're doing, I haven't figured it out yet. The prices were okay, the selection okay. Okay!
