Beware, it's a peeper and pervert paradise. While face down getting a massage I happened to look up towards the accordion style doors and noticed a figure quickly step aside. The door was open a couple inches and someone was peering in. Ugh... ruined my experience and I'll never return. After finishing and walking out, I noticed every single massage room door was open slightly. This allowed anyone to peek in. One instance could be an oversight but this was obviously standard practice there. If you dare to go here, please take note of the door gap before your massage begins. read more

I had a terrible "hot stone" massage at Delaware River Spa on Main Street in Port Jervis. It was the most painful experience of my life. I should have gotten up off the table and left, but I didn't. I cried out in pain several times during my massage and she literally laughed at me. I am not sure how she could not feel me tensing up the entire time. There was no discussion about preferences before she started. Massage therapists, real ones anyway, ask you how their pressure is. This woman did not speak to me at all. I am not actually sure she spoke English. She was not using enough oil and was pulling my skin. The bedding was not warm. Every massage i have ever had always used blanket warmers. The one star is only for the 30minute reflexology, which was better than the massage. Not likely to ever go here again. The atmosphere was shabby and run down. read more

My friends step mom took my friend and I here a few months ago and at first I was skeptical, to be honest especially when I saw they had a dog there. But the dog was adorable and SO sweet!!! The staff was also very kind. I have to say, this place was THE BEST!!!! I had an hour foot massage and it was literally the best foot massage I ever had in my life!!!! I haven't been back because my schedule has been so hectic but this is my GO TO spot!!! They are super clean... cleaner than some full spa's that I have been to. My friend and I drove by this place on our way to another restaurant and decided to call and see what appts they had last minute. They were able to fit us in for a later appt, same day, which was great, for the 50 minute reflexology. We got there and promptly got settled in. The chairs were adjustable and extremely comfortable. There was a basket for our belongings and a warm blanket. I was promptly tucked in which made me laugh and the lady adjusted my seat for me. Before the massage, my feet were soaked and I received a brief head, neck, and hand massage. During the massage, there was soothing music and I was so relaxed. The foot and leg massage was really nice, too. When we went to pay, we were pleasantly surprised when the lady told us there was a special and it was $35 versus $50. So awesome! I had hour foot "reflexology " that began with a foot soak, scalp, neck hands and arms massage. The foot and leg massage was amazing! I was so relaxed I could have fallen asleep! Dim lighting, soft music- almost perfect. They are close to the road and even with the music I heard all the traffic, which made it a little difficult to zone out completely during my massage. I will bring my ear buds next time with my own music and that should solve that. Definitely need some "be good to me time", and will be a regular customer. You really should go! In less than a month I have visited here for or five times. Well driving in Port Gervis I saw the banner advertising a summer special which was too good to pass up. I thought I might need an appointment but each time I have gone it has been a walk-in. They have wonderful equipment and great massages. I dropped in here tonight after my regular place Couldn't take me as a walk in. I called prior and they accommodated me for an 8pm appointment. The place is a traditional Asian massage place with a good selection of services. Most one hour massages range from $50-$65. I got the one hour reflexology which occurs in a space in the store with several new leather recliner chairs and ottomans. The chair was quite comfortable and each station has a small bottled water and some mints. It was a cute touch. The masseuse was professional and did a nice job with my feet. She knew what she was doing. My only critique is that it may have been a few minutes short. They wash your feet when you get the reflexology and so.. I guess that's on the clock. My other place isn't on the clock until they start massaging you. All in all, it's a good back up for my regular place and I'd go back. read more

Was in the Port Jervis area for a meditation retreat and looking for a massage on our mid-week break to help with my achy back. The massage was fine, although there was some confusion about price and payment, with the manager yelling some instructions to bump up the price I first was quoted. However, due to a language barrier and me being in a fairly chill mood, I didn't haggle and just paid. Turn-offs were the prevalent "no prostitution" signs that were pretty tacky and plastered everywhere. The place is quite a hole in the wall. I went for a 60 minute massage and the timer went off when the masseuse had gotten most of my body and one leg done. At that point I agreed to another 10 minutes to finish the other leg and wrap up. All-in-all and okay experience that works in a pinch. Don't expect ambiance or a whole lot of customization if you have trouble areas, want different pressure, etc. read more

Be VERY careful about your massage here - I had to take Aleve for 24 hours afterwards! When I first heard about the Delaware River Spa, I was excited because I have gone to many Tui Na places in NYC. In exchange for a no-frills set-up and a staff that hardly speaks English, you get a good to amazing massage for an incredibly low price. Great deal, right? The key is - a good massage, but that is not what I got. The place is clean and pleasant. Like most of these set-ups, there is almost no sound privacy - you can hear people checking in while you are in your massage room, but people tend to talk softly, so not a big problem. My masseuse gave me a foot massage that was ok but mediocre. She clearly wasn't trained in the finer points - she just rubbed my soles back and forth. For the hot stone massage, she seemed better. The stones were soothing and relaxed my muscles. Tui na is a hard massage, so I wasn't surprised when things hurt a bit. A few times I asked her to go less hard or avoid certain areas. She said "yes". I later found out that the only English she knew was "how is this", "yes" and "more time?". A few hours after the massage, I felt a dull ache in some areas on my legs on which she had applied pressure. The pain mounted and I had to take 2 Aleve. The next morning, I had to take two more. If tui na is done properly, it may be a bit uncomfortable in the beginning, but you feel fantastic afterwards and even into the next day. The fact that I was in pain tells me that their massage therapists have not been properly trained. read more

I wouldn't even give a star. My husband got me a gift card for Christmas. He thought this place was good. I went there and got a deep tissue massage. told the guy multiple times to take it easy. he did not. walked out in more pain then when i walked in. as I was leaving i was very upset with how it wasn't even relaxing everything was and I did not want to tip. the guy said as i was leaving "excuse me miss tip" Guy left me in a very bad situation where i had to tip due to how he made me feel uncomfortable. lets just say the gift card he gave back to me I ripped up in the parking lot. I will never go back. I now have to go see a chiropractor for the mess he left me in. plus the table was dirty. as I looked down there was dead bugs and dirt on the bottom of the table. It was a good experience!! I was a little hesitant at first but they were very friendly, and the massage was excellent I also got cupping for the first time there and I was surprised how much energy I had the next day. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but I'm just glad I did it! Although the bulldog they have at the front desk is cute,I could do without, just because I don't think a dog should be at a spa,(cleanliness issue with me) but you don't realize he is there, because he is sleeping most of the time, and also that bird chime that goes off every time when someone enters i could do without as well. So I've been talking about getting a massage for over 4 months and today my husband and I went to the Delaware river spa and I'm still on cloud 9. This was our first body massage ever and it was absolutely perfect from the moment we walked in. The ladies that did it were very respectful caring and knew what they were doing from start to finish.
