I initially reached out after my cat Aggie passed very suddenly. the review i saw said something along the line of how easy they made things and to not keep looking. it was very correct. I was initially surprised they didn't have more reviews like the one I am leaving but I realized everyone that uses their services is not having a great time because of circumstance. I was a train wreck, I was crying. I didn't know what I needed or wanted or even what the options were. the staff was so kind and respectful and helpful. they charged a very affordable amount. I was kind of worried because times are not the best with finances for me at the moment. I was going to just get it done and figure things out later. they were incredibly fair on pricing. also every step of the way, they check in. they consistently offered me a moment or privacy or time to be alone. the team may be small, obviously I o my saw a short window. but the lovely young lady in the reception area ( I didn't catch her name or even title, I was a little frazzled) spoke to me when I dropped Aggie off and when I picked up his remains. it may seem silly but it genuinely felt nice to feel like the team I spoke to was involved throughout and gave my baby the respect and care I would have wanted. everyone I spoke to was kind and loved animals and cared about what they were doing. they made something sad and stressful as easy and graceful as it could be. thank you to the team for taking such good care of my sweet boy and I can not recommend them enough. read more

They went above and beyond to make sure our sweet dog was taken care of and safely returned her ashes to us. There was a bit of a mixup on our end but Jordan put things right for us. The box the ashes came in is lovely with an engraved plaque with our dog's name on top. I was so heartened by the care and concern from Jordan and his team. Give fur baby parents the paperwork of their beloved pet. Don't say my baby was cremated & change the day. Don't say my baby missed the UPS truck & promise the next day, she will be shipped. You gave us a UPS tracking number that when looked up, it said was invalid! We are senior citizens & had our fur baby Sheba Inu for 15.8 yrs never leaving her behind. I was blessed to have had that once in a life time pet who was more than a pet. He was a companion who served as a psychoanalyst when one was needed and whose innate ability to provide love exceeded any expectations that we as humans can place on others. Wesley was his name. He was a rescued Cocker Spaniel so his age was a great unknown; an estimate; a good guess from veterinarians. But as 2017's New Year's Eve celebrations settled down it was a good guess that Wesley at his youngest was 15 and at his oldest around 17. It didn't matter which number you chose because when the human versus dog year calculation is made it meant that Wes was over 100 with less days to go than days he had travelled with me. As with any aging pet one notices the slow down ... one mourns the missing spryness and energy that used to fill each day while celebrating the occasional rear view mirror days when our pets out of nowhere act just as they did in their youth. That was Wesley. But, Wesley never stopped knowing the importance of sitting close to me during my down days but also of wagging his tail and almost smiling during sporting events when my cheers indicated that our teams (Buffalo-based primarily) were winning (Since they were Buffalo-based the frequency was not as we both wanted.). The awakening occurred as April melted into May. He was really slowing down ... then he was hardly eating ... and finally I knew; he knew; and we spent his last evening and night together as friends. I was fortunate enough that he crossed the proverbial Rainbow Bridge in the night at home in the midst of sleep and peace near me. But, on the evening before Wes died we started to look at 'crematoriums' for pets together. Ok, I know that sounds strange but I knew he was going so I talked to him. Frankly, the YELP reviews of southern New Jersey facilities greatly disappointed me because none seen to indicate anything more than a processing center but then I read the reviews for this special place. The night that Wes died I called Delaware Pet Crematorium but it was "after hours" so I left a message. Less than an hour later Rob, the owner, called me back. I inundated him with questions about why he was in the business, what did he do with pets that people didn't want back, etc.. I needed to know if this was the place for me to bring my friend, companion, and family member to be cared for. The phone conversation convinced me. So, we drove across state borders to Wilimington and I will admit that industrial park where Delaware Pet is located almost caused me to turn around but I am glad I didn't. I walked into an incredibly peaceful office setting that was tranquil in its carefully thought out design. This was a place I could mourn ... this was a place I could entrust Wesley to. The young woman who has worked there for years showed great compassion to me and her dog Gwen brought me her toy and kissed me to let me know all was alright. They offered to carry Wes in but I did however in the transfer of Wes' body to their hands I saw love and respect for my dead dog. They valued a life that they had never known. They treated his body as if Wes was their dog. The options were explained ... and then the wait. I received a call that Wesley was ready. There was Gwen wagging her tail, the entire package of urns/memorials was better than expected. But what really impressed me was the young man who had just helped me bring Wesley in spotted me (Now, I didn't say when I was coming in so they could not prep for my arrival.) and said they had made sure Wesley was cared for in the way I wanted. I cried again both in sorrow at my loss but in joy that I had found the right people to care for my pet's body ... his soul was already romping and barking with all the other dogs on the other side. I would drive hundreds of miles to bring a pet here ... I told them that I hope I don't need to see them for years but I know that they are there. They have a website, www.theanimalsoul.com, which may explain the why's but if you are in South Jersey, the Delaware Valley, or Maryland and you lose a loved pet that you want to remember with love ... this is the only choice; you will feel loved. I'd JUST moved to a new state, and a horrific event brought me to The Animal Soul / DE Pet Cremations. Really. Just moved. The day before. I hadn't even had a shower yet. 1. Kathy and Robert (and Oscar!) showed me kindness that I desperately needed. My dog had already started decomposing, and I had a long commute* to get to their facility with a constant malodorous reminder of what had happened to my dog. And then there's me... un-showered, reeking of sweat, anxiety, and decomposing dog.... Kathy still gave me a big hug. *long commute was my choice... they're the best. 2. As opposed to merely running an animal-based business where they can make a buck preying on the heartbroken, they appear to be animal lovers who just happened upon a need in the community. I'm one of "those people" who anthropomorphize their pets, and I imagine that I could be taken advantage of pretty easily. Never once felt that here. 3. My dog's cremains arrived almost exactly 24 hours from the time I dropped her off. She was in a lovely, decorative box, her paw prints in ink, a clipping of her hair, and a thoughtful card. She was treated with dignity. So was I. We sadly lost our one beagle (at an amazing age of 18!) last year, and more recently lost another precious beagle to lymphoma. My name is Katie I'm with FurrButts Photography. I have used DPC twice now. Both of my babes passed within 7 weeks of each other. The first time they were wonderful. When my 18 year old babe that I adopted 16 years ago needed to go, of course I would take him there. HUGE MISTAKE! I had the Vet Dr. Flannigan come to the house to help him pass and she took him with her. I had a bad feeling so I called DPC to ensure that we were getting the full service that we paid $225 for. Kathy at DPC ensured me we were. His Paw Print was NOT in the bag! I picked him up on a Friday and by the time I opened the bag they were closed. I called and left a message, the owner/ so called grief counselor, Rob calls back and tells me he will check on Monday. ON MONDAY! I had to sit and wait all weekend to now find out they NEVER did it!!! I had to call THEM, they opened at 7am and I never got a call! This can NOT be fixed, It can NOT be taken back, He is on my mantle in a box! I will never have this treasure that was so very important to me! So if you decide to use them make sure that in your moment of intense grief you MAKE SURE because otherwise the 2 simple things that they do may NOT get done properly! If I could give Delaware Pet Cremations more than 5 stars I would. Rob, and Kathy perform a service for their customers, in perhaps one of the darkest moments of a customers life. DPC does this with grace, with poise, with compassion, with kindness and with honor. Our personal friend who is/was our dogs Veterinarian came to our home and administered the drugs. Our vet also took our dog with him since he had refrigerated storage (this is the first time in over 40+ years and 5 dogs, that someone other than me did not stay with my dog, until the last shovel of dirt was placed on a grave - For those that understand what happens as a military escort officer - you know what I mean). Simply stated I wanted no one else but me to handle the 'remains' other than me, until the final resting place. Our Vet personally made arrangements for our beloved pet to be cremated at a facility nearly 3 hours away, (whom he does business with and we would take him ourselves vs a pick up) however with an impending snow storm, we elected DPC, due to the close proximity, and did so WITHOUT looking at the reviews. I left a VM on the DPC line and Rob returned my call, within 15 minutes. He went COMPLETELY out of his way to accommodate us for a private cremation the next day. We arrived at DPC on Thursday at noon. Met Rob and Cathy and their dog, for the first time and never once did my wife and/or I feel like we were being sold something that we did not want - and in this time of need that in of itself is admirable , as it would be very easy for a "predator" to take advantage of anyone in this moment of grief. Rob and a member of his staff (apologies for forgetting his name), took our animal into the private room,, placed him on a blanket and allowed my wife and I to grieve one past time, before the process started. I personally watched Rob take GREAT CARE in treating our beloved friend with the respect & dignity he deserved and that we gave him for the last 14+ years he shared our home. We took our cremains home today - the same day he was cremated. This is the first pet we have ever had cremated and """IF""" the hole in my heart were ever to mend to a point where I would have another dog, I would not hesitate for a second to give DPC a call again to handle this daunting task. A friend of ours who recommended Rob, had the exact same results. If you are reading this review and have a need - 1) I offer my condolences to you and your family, and 2) I would not be writing this review (not something I do) if I did not feel this strongly.
