Since I was home all the time and wearing masks outside all the time, Covid inspired me to do something I always wanted to do. I got adult braces and now am finally fixing my bottom crooked teeth! Going to Dr. Thomas was a no brainer based on reviews alone. But a friend also recommended this office as she used them for her adult braces too. The service and staff is top notch and you can trust yourself or your child will be in the best hands. Another interesting thing about Covid is that it also had me re-think my lifestyle and I decided to relocate to Arizona just 5 months into my treatment. I didn't think saying goodbye would be so hard. When you find a great service provider you want to stick with them! I wish I could afford to fly back for adjustment but alas, I had to find another orthodontist to continue treatment. And I have to say I was also so appreciative for Dr. Thomas's help with the transition as well. I chose this practice bc of the…read moreglowing reviews and convenience of the practice location but I regret taking my kid to start treatment here. 1. Impersonal care. It is a factory line. We never saw the same orthodontist or tech more than once. I don't know if they use random per diem orthodontists or moonlighting residents but the orthodontists don't seem to have much of a role. They come for 3 minutes and the tech does everything. 2. They are not careful or maybe it's a lack of skills. Something as basic as scraping off excess glue/cement so it doesn't puncture/irritate the gums when putting on orthodontic device. 3. There is no one on call for after hours at this practice. No one answers the on call service. They just don't pick up. You're out of luck if anything goes wrong after hours. 4. Difficult scheduling appointments. You must make your appointment weeks in advance. If you need to reschedule for an unexpected reason, there are no available appointments. They are also always running late. You wait in the waiting room, then wait again in the chair. Clearly overbooked all the time.

His gentle, reassuring manner went a long way towards keeping our family sane during this crisis. The group goes out of their way to ensure that our daughter can get timely appointments that work with her schedule, and she doesn't spend much time in the waiting room. Let me start by saying that the staff and technicians are all wonderful and kind. My oldest child was here for 3+ years, and during that time his orthodontist left (Dr. O). We were never told about it and placed in the care of Dr. Fiss, whom we rarely saw at our visits during the third and final year of treatment. When we finally did see him and I asked him why there was such slow progress and when my child would be out of braces, he admitted that he would have done things differently than the previous doctor and blamed my child for not wearing rubber bands often enough (not completely true). He got very defensive with me. I told him that I have two younger children whom I was planning on bringing to his practice in the future, but this experience was very concerning. I thought knowing that he potentially had return business would make him more likely to do the right thing and complete my child's treatment. Guess what? He didn't care. The next week I received a CERTIFIED LETTER saying that he would no longer treat my son. I had paid in full for the treatment (within the first 2 years) and, clearly, he wasn't interested in finishing out the treatment since he was no longer getting paid for it. I was shocked and didn't even know that a doctor could do this. My son was left with braces on his teeth, treatment that wasn't finished, and Dr. Fiss had the nerve to write that he was proud of the work he'd done on my son's teeth, even though his smile wasn't perfect and his teeth weren't finished being corrected (his words). How is this even possible!?! In the letter, we were asked to return to their practice to get the braces removed. NO THANKS! I found Dr. Penna at Penna Orthodontics, who agreed to take my child on as a patient for a very nominal fee as my child's teeth were almost finished, and he completed treatment about 4 months later. Dr. Penna is amazing and sees my children at EVERY visit. Do yourself a favor and go to Dr. Penna. Dr. Fiss didn't care about my son, my family, and the "care" he did provide was, dare I say, harmful.
